I go the doctor tomorrow at 2....
my goal is to get in the pool at least 4 times a week and do leg excercises.. and walk 3 times a week... my goal is to loose 2 lbs per week...

HI GIRLS!!! Boy, did I miss you guys...but Marci and Brenda said that I (I was going to anyway today) should come on and fill ya'll in on the trip.....so here I are :)
Can I just say....OMG! What a FANTASTIC show that was. It took about six hours to get there (with two stops) and we went straight to my Godmother's place, because we couldn't check in until 2. The first night, we ended back in the room about 9:30 b/c I had been driving all day and was EXHAUSTED. Our room was in a sucky location because we had asked for two beds in the disabled room, so we got a view of the back of the hotel (I did complain about that when they sent me a survey); but it really wasn't bad, b/c we got to walk through the Promenade (bunch of little shops and restaurants). Day 2 consisted of going to casinos, obviously and a lot of walking around during the day. We had to get back early though b/c we were meeting up with a friend of mine for dinner that I had met on Donny.com and then went to THE SHOW, which as I stated up top, was just AWESOME. It was so cool to see Donny/Marie up close and personal, instead of always on TV. Donny came out into the audience, but not in our row :(; he only made it to the third row, which was three down from us. When they first came out, they did all their "new show" stuff, Marie did a set of her songs, Donny did his and they did all their hits together (that they did in their show in the 70s) and then it was over :(. It was a very action-packed hour and a half show. Went by MUCH TOO FAST, if you asked me. If we had known where the stage door was, we would've gotten autographs, but oh well. We stayed up that night until 2 in the morning (only night we really stayed up that late). Day 3, we absolutely DID NOTHING. We didn't even get out of the room until noon. We did have to go back to the NY NY and cash in some tickets (played of course), but then we walked back over to the MGM and I did get to talk for a few seconds with Donny's personal assistant, but that was it. Then we went to downtown to see the Fremont St. Experience (having dinner at McDonald's) and played again at some of the casinos down there. Renee won $112 at Fitzgerald's down there...I tanked, as usual. Got a short video of Fremont St. on my cell phone (I'll email it to you, Leigh Ann) and some pics. We got back to the hotel that night around 11:30, stayed up for a little while longer and played in "our" casino...I finally went up around 1:00am; and she came up at 2(I was already fast asleep); Last day, we got up early, packed up, packed the car, went to a breakfast buffet and left around 1:00pm. We went to my aunt's in Apple Valley on the way home, stayed for about an hour and a half, then came home. I got in the door about 9:00 (after dropping her off and unpacking her stuff out of the car). AND THAT'S THE TRIP.
Now, are we on new goals for this blog? I've read a little of what you all were talking about, but not everything. Fill me in on all the new stuff that's going on around here, please.

Some of us are making new goals or revising our original goals and if we reach those we are going on a blogger girls trip...maybe to Vegas!
We still have some stuff to work out for it, but we will keep you posted.

Doctor went good.. a litte change of plans.. did do my bloodwork though....
"the sleeve" is too New and my insurance carrier won't cover...

The doctor was phenomenal... very itelligent, put me at ease... hewas informative and knowledgeable... so I think within 2 weeks I will be having my surgery...
Please don't think I am taking a "cop-out".... I just need medical means to help me succeed..
I have no metabolism since my hysterectomy and thyroid problemsin my family...

I have to do at least 4 days a week of some sort of excercise...
but I am hoping... as I lose and my energy increases... it will be 7days a week... :)

I will end up being the "first" bariatric patient at Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge... all other have been performed at the Lady of the Lake...

the doctor was "shocked" by my actual weight...he said I had alot of muscle mass... which was great... normally "obese" patients have fat mass....
I used to be 5'5 1/2 inches... I am now 5'3"... my scoliosis has taken its "turn" on my spine.. I have a curviture in 3 places...
I'm hoping the surgery and weight loss will eliviated the back pain.. and I can concentrate on those"excercises" as well to correct my spine...
The doctor said, I could lose from 30 lbs to 80 lbs... it's entirely up to me, my outlook, my drive and my support group....

I talked to a lady today at the doctor she had it done 3 years ago... has lost 85 lbs... just recently had a baby.. soback for a
"fill"....
they inflate saline solution in the "band" to make your stomach smaller...

I'm allowing myself SUGAR on Monday nights...only...Tina, is there sugar in the margarita mix?? Hmmm must think about that LOL But I did walk twice at work and my tonight walk didn't pan out do to some important emails I had to tend to...dammit! BUT, I'm on for 2 walks at work tomorrow and hopefully...at night :)

A bit of bad news to report...my dad found out that he has a blood clot in his leg; guess his leg had been bothering him this past weekend and it had gotten worse yesterday, so my sister took him into ER...they were just gonna send him home with cellulitis; THANK GOD my sister had insisted on them doing an ultrasound (and telling them that her sister had a clot also); so he's on Coumadin and some injections, for a week (just the injections are for a week, to get his blood thin enough to be on the Coumadin on a "maintenance" type thing)...he'll be on the Coumadin for six months

I talked to an OM at a facility in Apple Valley about some possible work the other day! It would be done remotely, of course! Just the name "Apple Valley" sounds quaint, like out of a novel...
Brenda and Tina, I love all of this talk of rallying and working toward new goals! You two crack me up with the margaritas! Do you think there is a recipe for a celery or carrot margarita? BLECK!! Ha! Just wouldnt be the same w/o the sugar!
Marci, I am so happy that you are going forward with steps for your health and well-being! Gosh, I told you, I have a friend who did the lap band and after a year she actually said she was considering having it reversed! She is a very sweet, (short-statured...she is 5 feet, 1 inch!!) lady who was so sweet to me. She was so excited when she found out I was pregnant with Ansley, and when I showed her the sonograms and told her it was a girl, that's all she talked about! :) She lost 102 pounds in 18 months. She literally looks like a different person, and she says her energy is amazing, like a tremendous weight has been lifted off of her, and I told her that's cause it has! :) You have nothing but support from me!
Leigh Ann, how is Pensacola? Does it rain a lot? Maybe we can all visit some time. It would be nice for you to not have to do all of the traveling to see your people! Are you falling into a "groove" with your new job? Did you say you might have a room mate?
Ahhh...I tried a new cream to put on my sore wrists after work/workout, and that stuff is LETHAL. The active ingredient is capsaicin, which is the stuff in hot peppers, and it is great on my wrists, but I CANNOT get it off of my hands! I have washed and washed, but I still feel it on there, and I am terrified to touch my face! I feel like going out in the yard and dragging my hands in the grass! :) Time for some latex gloves, next application!
Yeah, Apple Valley is a nice little community now. When my aunt and uncle first moved there 20+ years ago, it was NOTHING; but it obviously has grown quite a bit; the only thing is IT IS THE DESERT and does get very hot there in the summers. But what facility were you thinking of "working out" of? On the way back from Vegas, as I said, we stopped there; it was frickin hotter there than it was in Vegas when we left.

I'm really going to focus...my gut has grown!!! I see it in Tina's pics on her blog...I think my 2 pound weight loss was from me taking an extra water pill (one of my blood pressure pill)Saturday night partying with Tina....I was really puffy and I knew I was going to have salt on my margarita...so that weight loss was WATER for sure...What's worse is my husband is calling me Betty..LOL my mother is Betty and he thinks I'm looking like mom...chubby...especially in the face.... :(
My brother update...don't know how he is....I think I'll call the hotel tonight and try to reach him...he's suppose to graduate this Friday....hope he goes right onto the road from school, Tina, otherwise, I have to go pick him up Friday night...and then he would await his assignment at our house (I think)

I think I'm gonna challenge myself to get out of the house more and exercise; not go hard core like I was (cuz that's where all my probs started, I think), but just to get outside for fresh air (I do have my window open constantly)

I turned on the news right after you said that, Bren; we're all fine here (didn't even feel it here), including my aunt in a.v. and cousin that works in chino hills; another cousin was under her desk at work, but she's fine
What a trip...I'm on the 3rd floor at work and we felt it for a long time...maybe 30 seconds and it was strong!! They are interviewing people all over town, of course...there are places, like Mira Mesa that didn't feel it...etc..but it tripped me out LOL

LA - I agree... NO KIDs! haha. Well I went to the gym... did 35 minutes on the eliptical for 280 calories.... and a couple sets of crunches and my tricep weights... Tomorrow...its me and BRENDA and the gym!!! YAY
I'd like to go though, Tina, wherever it is (unless it's a cruise to the Carribbean or something...lol; than I'd have to bow out probably)

Hi all :) Hope everyone has a good day!! Hey Tina...I am on for the gym but will have to meet you there since I have to go to the commissary afterwards...I was suppose to go on Sunday BUT LOL
I went to this cool coffee house last evening, for a meeting, in Carlsbad and they had the coolest thing on the wall...for the regulars (and there are alot) there's a peg board that has their own mugs!!!!!!!!!! They bring in their own and keep them there on the board :) It had this toally relaxed setting...everyone doing something...on their phones, playing chess, laptops..LOVED IT!
YAY Brenda!!! I am looking forward to going. I am gonna try to get outta here by 3:30 - and if i can... since fred doesnt want to go... we can go as soon as I get home and changed - then he can drop the girls at soccer camp. Oh... and I have to run over to the commissary too... need to get coffee. :o)
oh great Tina :) I'm outa here at 2:30 and will go home to change..make my grocery list and just wait for your call to go :)

She is in an extremely mommy-clingy stage right now and I don't necessarily hate that.. :) Not to mention, there are other day-to-day operations that depend on me...I just don't think it would be wise for me to take off! I wouldn't be able to enjoy the time away for worrying. I hope that doesn't sound lame...

I, personally, cant imagine not having been able to count on fred to run the household without me. I travelled with work and that would have been impossible if i hadnt been able to count on him. I left my 8 yr old son and 5 yr old twin daughters for 10 days to go to the Philippines to do training. NOw.. HE DOES ALL THE LAUNDRY because he CAN!!! WHOOO HOOOOOO!! :O)

and supposed to be my parents 50th anniversary... and the mass is for my dad that passed away 7 years ago...

That's so freaky that he's from the same "town" as my aunt (who, by the way, is still doing amazing with the treatments; she did have surgery to "insert" like a port-a-cath near her collarbone, so it'll be easier to give her the chemo; but when she has the radiation, it kicks her butt - I called her on her birthday a couple weeks ago and she sounded really tired - but her kids come and help clean the house, do cooking for them...my uncle's not well either, so he's limited on what he can do - but they have some of the greatest kids and grandkids in the world; they take very good care of their parents)

but this would have been their "50th" wedding anniversary this Saturday.. so she did a special mass...
it also happens to be "Tarra's" wedding... Leigh Ann and I's niece....

What a meanie...now I see why I was so depleted...which is why we are not having any more! :) I don't think I could do that alone again...I am getting too old! My week foodwise went right out the window LOL...I ate terribly due to not taking the time to have good food prepared ... I am very excited because I have heard great things and really liek the principal and vice principal!! plus you know how i felt about where I thought they were going to have to go...this enables me to go back and get nursing school finished . I have decided to apply to a different school which is private but has better hours as far as childcare is concerned but smaller so hard to get into to! I take the test for them on august 12Th !! I am a wreck they have five entry requirements and four are great but the fifth is this test score!!
marci my mom had gastric bypass in 2004! She looks amazing and feels great but had a very long hard recovery take care of yourself and if ylu feel like somethng is wrong keep pushing them to find it..with my mom there was a problem but they were missing it ao the recovery was horrendous!! i am very excited for you!!!

Steph i had never ever left my kids either but I went on a weekend trip for my 30yh bday with my childhhod friends i threw up twice at the airport but ended up having a great time!! and Shane did wonderful with the kids...He can do everything but breastfeed but I probably did not give him enough chances. I saw that the kids really enjoyed staying with him too. so do not feel pressure you will know when you are ready to try leavign that little angel!!

I'm on medication, so don't know how this is gonna come out, but I seriously think my goal should be to get out of the house more often; whether it'd be just walking about the pool a few times, or just sitting outside and enjoying the day. I know it sounds stupid, but I'm also becoming a hermit (at least it feels like it)

Oh yeah he is; she's only 2 now...oh, poor John; he thinks this is bad, what until she becomes between like 8-12; these are the "tween years" and when their hormones are ALIVE AND KICKN. It's pretty sad; my second youngest niece, who's 8, has PP (I'm not even gonna attempt to spell it; but it's somethinig Puberty) She started "developing" when she was like 5; no kidding, she has little "buds" at boobs; so tyo control this, she receives shots every month to stop this development.,...I don't think my brother an his wife are ready to have their 8 year old go through puberty quite yet

Hey Tina...pluck pluck pluck...I wanted to do my toes tonight so they look pretty ...BUT it's 8:20 and I just sat down from chores...so it's a big NO LOL Thanks for keeping on that torture machine...I'm glad to have lived through it...gosh, at my old gym the treadclimber or tread stepper burned more calories but wasn't as hard...wonder if it's wrong in reading calories...as much as I hate the machine...my heart feels good for it...I've never been able to get my heart rate up that high for so long...I feel great!!

His doctor says according to his growth chart, he will be at least 6'3" by the time he is 18! I know, I know...he should be playing football. But I just can't bring myself to let him. I want him to play golf!
Apparently I also was early, and missed a Tennessee Tax Holiday that is happening next weekend. Well shoot...I could have saved a whole 8 dollars.

I do understand about Ansley now, but Jon's gonna be 12 and he's a boy (with probably a ton of energy); he needs to use that energy on something like sports. OMG...you should've seen my nephew when he was little...he was using his energy and being aggressive towards his younger sister..he would constantly hit her (even today he's like that), so my brother and sil took him to the doctor and asked for advice on how to redirect all that energy. He said GET HIM INTO ANY AND ALL SPORTS. So, he plays basketball, football and baseball (when they're in their seasons, of course); he is so much better than he was; I mean, you still have to remind him about stuff, but he's not where near what he was doing.

He's getting a ride back to San Diego with a classmate who's family also is down here....My brother scored, I think he said, 93% on his finals...had 80-90's on all his tests....his days were 12-13 hours a day then back to the hotel to group study...his class started with 20 some students...he was one of 6 in the end...the last class that went through ended with 2 that passed....Sad though, my brother's room mate and potential drver team mate...didn't make it through :( too bad, I liked that guy...So Ben needs to find another partner..I'm so proud of him!!! It's funny, I told my mom about the good news and she was more interested in how he was going to get back to LA area after his 3 days off :(
Oh, pooor Ben; I bet you'll be excited to see him though...now, does he wait for his assignment, since he's not directly going on the road? I've never ridden in a big rig before...maybe he'll give me a ride, if he brings his down here....lol
Hey Kathi...they are giving them 3 days off before receiving their assignments...which is nice after that intense 2 weeks...he'll be drving for maybe 4 weeks at a time and then get 1 week off...he'll be on the road throughout the US and Canada :) Don't know if his travels will come this way...LOL..if he does you can ask him if he'll give you a ride :D
cool :D. What's he gonna be hauling, like produce for stores? That'd be so cool to be a truck driver...now that the rules have changed as far as how long they can drive at a time, it should be a piece of cake for him
Well the company he's driving for has contracts with many many...but the top ones are GM, Revlon and Costco...if he's partnering up with someone, then he'll be on the road for along time..I think they are paid by the mile...otherwise, solo drivers...less time on the road..less pay ....Hope he gets a driving partner :D
I know money is GREAT, but I'd rather take the low pay than be in an accident because I was tired
that's why team drving is better...when one gets tired...he goes in back to sleep (where the bedroom is) and the other guy keeps driving :) Solo drivers are the ones who get tired because they have no releif driver (gosh I hope my brother doesn't solo drive!!!)

Well, nothing was done tonight, as I didn't injure or break anything, but I am in another equalizer boot. So, I have to call the Podiatrist on Monday and see if I can get in to see him, and talk about.......... the dreaded "s" word. I'm on pain killers and he put me back on Prednisone (50mg...yikes) for four days.
Kat, maybe it's just a "fun hangover" from Vegas on that foot...I know I had a "fun hangover" for a full week, on my entire lower half, after my half marathon. You know, just from having more activity than you are accustomed to. Even with all of that training I did...Was it bothering you at all during the trip? I hope it settles down for you. Take care!
Yeah, it was bothering me during the trip; once it really started hurting, I almost had to sit down at every bench that I passed; it was kind of sad...I had gone down to the car to get something out of it, and on my way back up to the room, I had to sit in the lobby for a few minutes to rest my feet - I had done a lot of walking that day

Leighann I am up 2 pounds for the week~!!!!!! Damn, I've got to get it together ...this roller coaster, up and down isn't helping me at all!! I hope your weekend home is refreshing for you and the family :)
