There was a hotel explosion here; some injured, some seriously, but right now, they don't think it's anything terrorist related... I heard one report say it was more of a construction related thingy (TONS AND TONS of construction going on in our downtown)... more later as I hear it

Ok, there may have been a gas leak; they were looking for it when it went BOOM (have to have some levity, so I don't completely lose it)
Steph and Marci, they don't have a jeep; they took the van to the chrysler/jeep dealership to get checked. The dealership carries both Chryslers and Jeeps (the van is a Chysler Town and Country; very nice, I might add..wait till you guys see it).
EXPLOSION UPDATE...now they're saying they don't know what caused it, but 14 construction workers were injured... thankfully no others were; it was in a mechanical room of the hotel ..
Oh, I see...dang it! I thought you sneaked out and bought Jeep, Leigh Ann! Around here, you know, a Jeep is a JEEP! I thought we were gonna get to ride around this summer in your Jeep. We would be totally HOT! :)
Kathi, OMG...that is awful. Was that close to where you all are? We have stuff like that happen around here all the time. There is a joke about Tennessee's state colors being orange and white (the color of the road construction barrels...ha ha ha! No kidding. I am sick of my car being filthy. I am glad it was only injuries and no fatalities...
It's about 20 minutes south of us; but it is right next to Petco Park, where our Padres play.. but no damage to the stadium and they played the game..(Pads, pronounced pods, are losing BIG TIME) turns out it was a gas leak; they just have to figure out why it happened.. they'll be serious fines if Cal-Osha - CA Occupation Safety and Health Administration - finds it to be the builders/contractors fault

Well, three construction workers were burned over 25-35% of their bodies and are in medically induced comas and others were moderately injured.. but so far, no one has died.. I can't believe this guy called a newsroom, but an "ambulance chaser" lawyer called a newsroom and has already offered his services for Workers' Compensation - I thought that was rather tacky (of course, he said wasn't offering his services, but you know damn well he was)
Gosh, too much excitement for me. It would be time for me to head to the house if there was an explosion next door to where I was...

Yeah Steph...it happened when we were in Old Town looking around when we found out about it...then I got on my phone and looked it up online and Paul called the Stadium and we were told everything was ok.
I was a little scared and we saw it walking into the stadium - I will try and post that picture today.
OMG I didn't know anything had happened...I'm glad you weren't there Leighann when it happened...OMG the unknown of it at the time would be absolutely scary!!

gosh...those car accidents!!!!! Hope you can find relief from the PT and meds...my sister has scoliosis ...pressed disks.. migraine and neck issues...good grief...she'a mess..but she regularly goes to the chiropractor and accupunturist (sp?)...if she misses a few...her body goes back to the pain...but does find her life manageable with both treatments...I feel for you Marci and Kathi!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, after tonight's performance, I now think David Archuleta (little one) is gonna win A.I. He was flawless and really showed emotion (not "crying" emotion.. he put his whole heart into the songs he sang), where in the "regular" rounds, he didn't.
Leigh Ann, I have to go somewhere in the morning (get fasting labs taken for my blood sugar) and then have a doctor's appt in the afternoon. How did you want to work out getting my jacket to me? I can take the bus up to the last stop (since I'm taking it home anyway) in MM and either meet you there or at Denny's. The last stop is just on the west side of the freeway, right before you go under the bridge on that side. I can call you when I get there.

I love you guys. It's been AWESOME getting acquainted and re-acquainted with all of you. You are the most beautiful girls. I don't want to make any promises I can't keep, but I'm gonna make an effort to save my pennies to come see you guys next year (I LOVE country music, so maybe we can go and see the Country Music Hall of Fame, there in Nashville, Dollywood and other sightseeing things. I'm so sorry I wasn't able to say goodbye in person, but I'm thinking this is a better way for all of us (seeing that it would've been too emotional). You guys have a very safe and fun trip and tell your mom and dad that they had better keep us all here on the blog updated, if possible, that you made it to each stop (overnight, not just potty stops...lol) safely. Whew, it was strange to see the little car on your ticker, roll over to "0 days since we transferred", as in, past tense. I hope everyone travels well. Did you load yourself and MacKenzie with something for your tummies? I remember that you two get motion sickness...me too, unless I am driving. I guess I would have to drive the whole way! Weird...why do you think that makes a difference? Passenger side versus driver's side, front versus back...totally psychological, I am sure...so, I guess you all are on the road now? I will check in throughout the day. I have a mountain of work yet to be accomplished, and a ton of errands too so I will be popping in and out. Call if you want to!

I'm better this morning, thanks to taking some ativan and actually sleeping (and writing the note to the girls); I felt HORRIBLE yesterday all day - very depressed.

Oh Kathi...they ran out of room in the moving truck...so they parked the moving truck and the trailer (holding the car they are towing) in front of our house...then the guys drove over in our truck and several vehicles, the goods that needed to be loaded...then had to unload part of the truck to reload it...and dismantle about 10 dining chairs...oh my....there was heartache for what didn't fit :(

yes...all is done...some things will not be joining them at all and some will join them later...it was a 26footer...hard to figure when you go about all that...then in the end..you just hope it holds it all :)

Ladies, we need to say a prayer for the Steven Curtis Chapman (Christian Music Artist) Family... their youngest adopted daughter was struck in the driveway of their home and killed (it didn't say what she was struck with, but I'm assuming it was with a car)....
Father in Heaven, we ask that you be with and watch over the Chapman family as they come to terms with this unspeakable thing that happened to them. We also ask that, as we all know you will, welcome little Maria into your kingdom with open arms; in Jesus' Holy name, Amen

My husband just talked to Paul a few minutes ago, and he said they were just outside of Yuma, AZ? Did I spell that right? Anyway, they are hoofing it, out in the desert...Paul said, "It's dusty!" :)

ya, you don't want to drive leisurely out in the desert in the summer, even if you're in a car with the a/c on full blast; i'm gonna be doing that in two months, and I'm not looking forward to it; we're gonna be leaving VERY early in the morning to try and avoid that
Got the test results back from the lab work yesterday.. it's all good; except today, my sugar is running irratic (sp?)..this am before eating it was 159 and two hours after eating is 189 - any suggestions, Steph? I did email my doc, so he does know (told me to let him know whenever it goes above 120 before meals and 160 after

Kathi, what are you eating? Are you keeping those high glycemic index foods in mind, and steering clear? You know, those are the ones that spike your sugars quickly, then drop them suddenly...makes ya feel like crap! Ah...no bread, no potatoes, no concentrated sugar, no pasta!!! :0
Kathi, I forgot to ask, are you still on the steroids and watching your carbs? If so, you know you have to be VERY careful with everything you eat when you are going low carb. Unless you are doing low-fat and low-carb (which is very hard!!), if you ingest carbs while taking in all of that meat, cheese and eggs, guess what happens...BAD STUFF!!! :)
Yes, Steph, I am still on the steroids..in fact, I had to bump it up a bit, cuz this week, my chest was REALLY hurting.. I'm trying to be careful, but I forget. See, I had a little spaghetti last night, but only a little. Think ya need to come out here and beat me with a wet noodle..but not too long; I might start to enjoy it...lol.

Steph, feet are there. Because of the orthodics, my achilles tendons are much improved, but the left ankle has been VERY painful, as I might have said before. Went to the Podiatrist yesterday and I found out that, because of what I was born with, the bone under my ankle is partially fused. He gave me a cortisone shot though and it's feeling much better. He said that I can have a few of those a year, if needed, and not have much harm done. If the shots stop working, then he said that there is a surgery that they can do to scrape away the fused part and put a screw in to hold it together. I'M TRYING THE SHOTS FIRST THOUGH. But he said that he doesn't see the surgery happening anytime soon. Yeah, I CRINGED when he mentioned the screw, so I don't want the surgery either.
And besides, I'm more than likely gonna have to go into a rehab facility..I don't have anyone to take care of me after the surgery.
I'm gonna be using Vegas as my guide.. if, after we get back, I'm "crippled" with pain, I'll call him and see if he thinks another shot is advisable.

There's new carjacking scheme that's going around; my mom just sent it to me (LA, I did forward it to you since I have your email); when you go back out of a parking spot, and you see a piece of paper blocking your view, DO NOT PUT YOUR CAR IN PARK AND GET IT; when you do, you have your door open, and your purse in the car, more than likely, and THAT'S when they jump in your car and snatch it...and probably mow you down in the process. SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL

Night Leigh Ann; I thought about that today...having all four girls in the van, for a week.. I don't know how you're keeping sane (my sister and I want to kill each other if we're in the car for longer than an hour; I don't think there would be anything left of either of us if we had to stay in the same car for a week).

Love long weekends :) Marci...Sat and Mon is the days we are setting up our booths at the fair...I belong to mult clubs (for the love of plants and rocks) and we create this asian alley feel in the back of the fair amongst the large garden exhibits...I love it :)

Me, KK and Mylee are going to my sisters in Lake Charles tonight.. but we will be home early Sunday afternoon... and Mike will bbq or make a jambalaya for us.... and chill on Monday... family time :)

yeah, I'm sure that's what it is to'; I wonder if they'll drive straight, depending on the weather of course, from Gila Bend (pronounced Hila, BTW) to El Paso, TX (I think that's one of their stops) to make up time. It would be a total drain, but I know Leigh Ann was really looking forward to those crawfish on the 30th. OMG'; I can totally hear the girls fighting in the back, Leigh Ann fixin to go balistic (unless they switched and Leigh Ann's driving the truck now with the dogs - it'd be a lot more quieter, that's for sure)

Just wanted to check in and let you know we made it to El Paso about two hours ago and ate and are now going down to the pool.
Today was much easier...

The kids have been great and now I am going to organize their suitcases. Tori and Rayna are at the gym - not me:(
Our room is wonderful - big and spacious with a living room and a recliner...lmas...too funny!
What time did you leave Gila Bend? How's Mack doing with her car sickness? So, there hasn't been any major brawls in the back of the van? I'm sorry I said that, but with four girls in the car for a week, living out of suitcases, even if they are sisters and really close, I'm sure there's bound to be some things.

Ah, Leigh Ann...Texas! I've been through it, that's all I can say. Exactly how you are doing it; driving! I was 7 years old. I just remember DUSTY AND TOO DANG HOT TO BREATHE. Ick.
Have you run into any Texas Highway Patrol officers who want to "kick the sh_t out of" your tire? (remember that, from your trip out there?) HAHAHAHA!
Jonathan finished up school today. He had a graduation ceremony and walked for his certificate...it was too cute! He made honor roll all year, and scored in the top 98% in the county for reading and science. He stood when they called his name and announced his accomplishments, and he got a standing O from the audience...I was a little proud, to say the least! I hope he remembers, mom taught him to read!!! :)
Ansley ran around the auditorium yelling the entire time...out of all those people with toddlers, I was the only one chasing mine around...it was better than the alternative of her screaming and writhing on the floor! I have pictures...it was hilarious! Okay, it was stressful and not funny at first, but you had to step back and laugh!
She was happy for her big brother, I'm sure; how far apart are they, by the way?
Leigh Ann, I hope you didn't run into the Sheriff of Maricopa County in AZ!! GOOD GRACIOUS...he puts new meaning to "not taking any s**t from anyone" I'm sure you've heard of him on the news; can't remember his name, and frankly, don't care....lmas
Oh Kathi...I am thinking of Jackie Gleason again, kicking that guy in the butt on the side of the road! LOL!
Jonathan is 12 in 4 months, and Ansley is 2. Yep. Almost 10 years' difference! She adores her brother! She says, "Jon-Jon, HUG ME!" and, "Jon-Jon, pick me UP!" :) She follows him around and mimics everything he says and does.
BTW, did anyone else catch the typo on the little saying at the top, under I AM...it's even highlighted! Sorry, I can't help it. Typos jump out at me from everywhere, because of fixing them all day at work...it's a gift, and a curse! :)
Oh yes, Leigh Ann. More home stuff...there has been a huge biker "convention" here over the past week...guys (and some scary tough ladies!!!) everywhere on motorcycles...I went into the gas station down the street from the house to pay for my gas, and one of those guys walked up to the counter beside me and was staring, and the cashier asked him what he had in his box from the deli, and he said, "breasts...Oh I mean chicken". Then he turned back to me and said, "you made me say breasts..." Gross, and funny! Men have no shame, it seems...:)

No, he loves her just as much. I do catch him being "mean" to her sometimes...like not letting her play with one of his toys that she wants, etc. Typical big brother stuff. But he is generally very protective of her. I am so glad!
No, it was Smokey and the Bandit...remember that scene I described on the blog a few months ago...I think Cannon Ball Run was hilarious too.

I know, I read it; and thank you. I guess everyone has questions like that.. I know when people die, it should be a celebration of that one person's life; a celebration of all the things that they may have accomplished.. but since our family is sort of reliving 2003 all over again (we lost four family members almost back to back), it's rehashing all those horrible feelings I had back then, only this time, I'm not as shocked at death anymore like I was then; and you have no idea how that frightens the dickens out of me..it's almost like I'm saying, "Oh, ok; another one bits the dust". I would NEVER, IN A MILLION YEARS say that, but that's what it feels like, ya know?
It took me an hour to write the damn thing, cuz I wanted not only to say the right words, but convey them in a way people would understand

Very long day... Im exhausted. Girls team won BOTH games and are currently in 2nd place (2 points from 1st) Zachs team one first game and tied 2nd... not sure what place they are in. Im gonna have a slice of pizza... a glass of wine and go to bed cuz we have to be back on the field tomorrow at 9. Brenda - how did setting up at the fair go, that was this weekend or did i get it wrong? Goodnight ladies!!

Hey all :) It was a grand day at the fairgrounds...yes...we were there and set up our backdrops...it was pretty smooth sailing..then we helped a friend work on her MAJOR project..she wond the bid the create the grand poopa as you enter the flower and garden area....this thing will blow you away..she 's in the beginning stages of getting it going...We'll be back there Monday to put up our bamboo :)
