Try to understand...your Dad just doesn't get it...it's like my Mom when she tells me she doesn't love me-it's her illness, not her. I am glad you have your siblings for support.

I know that LA; and I guess the sooner I do get it, the better; but that just threw me for a loop; I do understand sometimes that it's the disease and not him; but other times....I don't know; I want him to have a "connection" to this; how can you be married to someone for 45 years and not have some kind of connection!? God, I dont know how you handled that when your mom said that to you; I don't know if I could; and I'm REALLY not looking forward to the day when he doesn't recognize any of us..and I know it's coming, and probably not in the far distant future, as rapidly as it's progressing

Kathi, Leigh Ann is right... it's not your dad anymore... it's the disease.... it's confusing him and he is getting frustrated... so he vents on your mom's memory... probably b/c it gets a charge from yall.... attention..... sad but true.... Alzheimer's is the most degrading and sad disease there is out there..... sounds like he is fighting the confusion right now...

It is hard, but I'm sure with time, it'll get easier; I'm thinking maybe it's time to talk to someone professionally...I've been fighting it ever since Mom passed, maybe it's time; I mean, I would like to talk to one of my cousins that lost their mom almost six years ago, but I don't want to bother either one of them (just like us, there's four of them) right now...just b/c not only are they also dealing with my mom's (their aunt) death, but also our other aunt's; the family's been through hell the last couple of months; maybe after the first of year I can talk to them...but in the meantime, I think I will get a hold of a psychologist

My mom is recovering from surgery...and is intubated. They were having trouble with her BP being too low again.

Well, I just found out that my sister's going to Chicago for the brunch (my brother had a free ticket on United and basically forced her to go...which, I'm not gonna lie, I'm upset about...but in the end, she is and has shouldered the majority of the burden of this whole thing, so I guess she deserves it; I'm gonna try and get out there for my birthday in April
I'm now ok with my sister going to Chicago; I talked to her when my brother was dropping me back off at home (he and I had lunch with Dad at his house) and she told me that our uncle (her Godfather) was just SHAKING and his voice was quivering he was so happy to hear that she was coming...and it gives him something to look forward to (my cousin said he's just done nothing but cry everyday since my aunt passed, and has been very depressed...so it makes me feel good that he has something to look forward to); I know I'm making the right decision in being cool about this

I've just finished cooking for part of the week...doing laundry..decorated for fall (I was 2 mons behind on that..WOW...first time ever, I think LOL)...gonna go pot up some geraniums..then more of the garage...EWWWWW

HAPPY Monday Ladies! Hope you all have an awesome week! Today is Jenna's very last volleyball game of the season. I hope they play well. It would be great to go out on a win... but i will settle for good volleyball!
