It sounds like you have everything under control...I would probably keep the kids with me, too. Just know that they are more than welcome to come here. I will probably be here for a few extra days if it gets bad in Pensacola - they told me to call before I headed that way.

The girls tied their game yesterday and the BBQ with my folks and the Storeys turned out good...food was delicious. Brenda mad a KILLER banana bread... yummy!!
Then we played darts till we broke the tips off all my cheap ass darts! ha! It was fun.
Now... to get the girls up for more soccer. Today at 10:40 and 5:20. I hope we can win these!

Hey ladies... am reporting in....
everything is secure.... Sam's car and My Durango, under the carport....
we unloaded my china cabinet (it was Mike's Grandmother's).... and put my China (my Grandmother's from 1912) o my shelf.... we are blocking my 2 sets of sliding glass doors which is on the side where the wind will come thru...

Girls one this game - 1 - 0. It was a very rough game... very physical. You know, LeighAnn... the kind that brings out the BEST in my girls!! LOL I didnt even have to bribe them to knock girls down. LOL...
Another tonight at 5:20 - and if we tie or win (i think) we go on and play at 8:00 tomorrow.

OK...Steve and I are about to head up to Solana Beach for my Ikebana class ..it's the Japanese floral arranging...a nice evening to hang out with friends and play...but I do wish the news were brighter for so many....

Marci, what car are you taking if you have to get out? Is it still sunny out right now? I see on CNN that the outer bands are starting to come on land. Have you guys got the call that school's canceled tomorrow? Do you guys get calls?

Where's it coming in at? Yeah, sleep in your clothes tonight, so you can go at a moments' notice...do the NOPD or someone else come around in their vehicles and tell everyone to get out, or does everyone just use their own best judgment? I hear it'll be too late tomorrow to get out

On a lighter note, if there can possibly be one at this time, my girls just finished their soccer game. WE ARE CURRENTLY in first place and we play tomorrow!!! FINALS!!! Have to be on the field at 7:00 AM!!
Well... gonna eat and crash as 5:30 comes VERY early.

PLEASE DON'T BE STUPID..I just heard on CNN that a lady took the 10 and then the 65 AND TRAFFIC IS NOT THAT BAD....GET OUT...THINK OF YOUR CHILDREN, YOUR GRANDCHILD; you have the cars packed, it is that easy to get up and go...LEAVE...I can't STAND IT when people refuse to leave in a bad storm like this... You do realize that THERE WILL NOT BE an emergency shelter like there was in Katrina, don't you? As you can see, I'm not at all happy about this

I am praying for her and the family, Steph... I just don't agree with her decision...still watching CNN and it looks like that the eye of Gustav is gonna hit just to the west of NO (thank God) and it's still a cat 3
I made the decision I had to make, I had no choice. where my children were to go was evacuated... and my sister was going to her mother in laws... I can't expect her to take 5 more people to someone elses house.
My family wanted to stay together.
just be supportive please, I don't need a guilt trip right now. if something happens to my family I won't be able to forgive myself
Again, Marci, you have my total support, I don't blame you, I would not have loaded my kids into a car and sent them out alone. There is probably more that could have happened to them on the road. At least if you are together and something happens, you can help them. Just stay safe, and the last thing you need to worry about is opinions from the blog, however well meant they were.
I don't have much room, but if you have to send anyone north, I can accommodate a few, and you are welcome to what we have. Hot food and showers...and love!
Ok; do apologize Marci; I'm glad that the kids wanted to stay with you; and if I was in the same situation, I'd probably do the same thing; who knows... I haven't gone to sleep cuz I've been so worried about you all; and I'm still watching CNN like a hawk (despite my mouth running, I do worry). How is everything now, Marci? You still got power? I did the exact same thing when we had the fires last year...stayed up all night and just watched where it was going (turned out, it was a good thing I did, because my mom/dad's phone was off the hook and they wouldn't have gotten the reverse 911 call). I don't know if I can get any sleep now; I think I'd worry a lot more if I turned off the TV and sleep... but I am watching a "marathon" of BH, 90210 also, to try and keep my mind off of it
My opinion was meant well, Steph; it just didn't come out that way

Who all has checked in? I don't remember seeing many...
We have gone to the river trail every day this long weekend, and I have gotten in some good miles this week.
I did 4 circuits and 22 miles.
Now, I am having a sandwich, and a beer!
I'm assuming Marci's lost power since she hasn't given an update (or she's oveer the top pissed at me...I wouldn't blame her one second for that)
