Made a post on the blog then I walked the kids to the bus stop at 6:25 this am, kissed Paul goodbye as he left for work and told Rayna I would see her this afternoon... then I went back to bed. I SLEPT FOR ALMOST THREE HOURS!!! Still can't believe it! Must have been tired:D Feel great now!

WOW, LA; you must have been really tired - maybe from all the back and forth stuff? Do you think PCola is gonna get hit by Fay? I'm "two ways" on that...kind of hope it doesn't, cuz you won't have anything to go back to, as far as work, but then again, I hope it does, cuz you get more family time :D (or would they "ship" you somewhere else?...no pun intended about the ship)

We go back to look at furniture again tonight. Picked a sofa and loveseat, tables, and an entertainment center... (not real hip on the center) now need lamps and a chair. THEN since what he picked is a sage green in color (very pretty) I will need new curtains and accent pillows etc...
*sigh* all i wanted was a new comforter and curtains for my bedroom... LOL

Just found out that Rayna's high school had a code red...they were put on lock down at like 1030...but, I guess they got the guy that was making the threats. Tori is updating me from Bristol!!!!! Local news isn't saying a lot about the current status - just the history of the situation. And Rayna's phone broke yesterday - it's in my purse!!!! DAMN IT!
The guy was the father of a high school student, who with the rest of his family went into hiding due to domestic violence. The father held the domestic violence "worker" (?) up at gun point and then threatend to kidnap his son from school...
OK...that sounds so confusing and I kinda of know what happened. Sorry, guess they got the father who was making the threats, so the lock down should be over...
Damn... I hate when that happens.... these people always seem to loose it and drag their kids in it...

Heard from my brother yesterday :) when Steve dropped him off 4pm Friday 10 days ago in LA...he went, driving the whole time, with his engineer in the truck...to San Diego by the border, Ohio, Minnesota and is leaving from Atlanta today to ??? don't know...she's doing good and sounded really tired..but said the truck is state of the art and is comfortable to sleep in :) My sister was bummed she couldn't see him (she lives 100 miles south of Atlanta) but we are pretty sure he'll go through again sometime...I'm just really proud of him and happy he's doing what he wants :D

Tonight after the gym we are going to Best Buy... for a big screen tv. *sigh* I think Fred has forgot we are in the middle of a recession. LOL

My younger brother tore down some old cypress barns on a plantation acreage... he has more than enough to do my double carport and line the inner walls and ceiling with cypress... it would be gorgeous!

Still no word on the van and we are in a rental. Then I had an emergency orthodontist appt because Mackenzie spacer bracket whoha thinge broke and it was cutting her mouth! What fun - picked her up from the school nurse and off we went. Had to order Rayna a new cell phone cause Dailen tripped and broke hers...isn't life grand?
Already getting sad and bitchy and I haven't even left yet!
Leigh Ann, give us a yell if you all are free on that weekend, and maybe we can coordinate something.
Don't be sad about going back to work. The bitchy/angry part can be fuel for the drive, but we don't like the sad part...we don't do that here, honey! :)

Oh yes, the sore throat, Leigh Ann. That is how mine started, 2 weeks ago. I mean, a vicious sore throat. Hurt all the way into my ears when I swallowed. Take care of yourself!
They start at 7:30 and end at 2:30 - the bus picks them up at 6:25. Rayna is like an hour behind them.
Fixing to go pack up my suitcase, Ms. Judy is picking me up at 1100 and my flight leaves at 1:00.

Kathi, Hurricane Katrina, mangled our shed in the back yard and it ended up wrapped around a tree heading for our sliding glass doors in the living room... My roof (entire with wood and all, was lifted from my house and water was blown into my attic... but thank goodness it wasn't torn off... we replaced our roof and repaired.. ceiling etc.... only about $10000 in damages...
My brother lived by the coast and had about $50,000 in damages...
then, 3 weeks later, Hurricane Rita, wripped thru cameron and Lake Charles and my sisters house had $98,000 in damages.. (just the house)
it was horrible....
Fixing to be the 3 year anniversary!!!!!!

It's hard to imagine..We lived in Pensacola in the 70's when one went through...but I was a young teenager and didn't really get it...I just remember swimming down the highway..and in the parking lot of our shopping mall LOL...good god...what an idiot!! alligators, water moccasins...never entered my mind back then LOL
Brenda, I Know you love the storms.... somewhere I have Katrina and Rita on video tape.... until we thought the tree in my front yard snapped and we took off!!! LOL
as kids, I remember thinking it was all FUN....

but My brother had manditory evac as well as my sister....
and it was a week before they even let them get back in to see what happened to their properties..
WOW; that was just incredible how bad that was. That's good that you're at higher ground than other places got devastated (I know parts of Louisiana is like a bowl and sits below sea level); yeah, I know it's almost the three year anniversary...and I hear that some of the damage is STILL there, which just sickens me...FEMA did a shitty job
FYI: I wasn't left w/o anything for my foot...I did have a little brace on, but my foot just hurt a lot while in it, so that's y I'm back in the boot

Yeah, I do agree with you on that, Marci...it is past time to move on with their lives; it's not fair to milk fema this far out, cuz there won't be enough funds for the next disaster for them to help THOSE people out; BUT..I say they did a shitty job because they all saw the news and saw how bad it was gonna be (it was a cat 4 in the Gulf)...they could've had people there on the ready
Anyway...got my appt set for next week (YIPPEEEE); it's the 29th

I counted up my calories that I consumed today...about 500 over from the formula that they give you if you want to lose a pound a week. Gonna work on it and cut some calories - it's better when I have my fruit - with it only about 250 over.
I could lose my religion over Fema and the people that milk the system... no one was prepared for that disaster.. anywhere it would have hit... there is no way you could have been... it's hard to explain Kathi... you would have to lived it.....
it's called people panic.... just ordinally reality and life...
sad but true....
I personally NEVER want to live it again....

Well, I'm off to bed, as I have to get up pretty early for the scan (Mom's picking me up at 7:30 :( )
I'M FREAKING OUT NOW (yes, I'm still up..haven't been to sleep at all); I don't know what to do about my foot - on one hand, I want the surgery, cuz I'm SICK OF DEALING WITH IT AND THE PAIN (and complaining to you guys about it) - on the other hand, I know as I get older, even though I'm a fast healer, it's harder to bounce back after each surgery (not to mention possibly being either on crutches or in a wheelchair for a few months); my mom's going with me to the appt next week, but OH GOSH, do I wish either Brenda or Tina could go with me, just to get an "outsider's" pov (point of view)
Well, I did ask my IHSS worker to meet us there so she can get an idea of what it's gonna take to take care of me, should I have the surgery; but I'd still rather have someone I've known for a LONG time there...but I know and understand that's not possible
Gosh Kathi...that's an incredible load to carry :( I know I just can't commit to something this grand ...If my husband were home during the week...I'd for sure be there for you thru this entire process...but I'm learning my limits due to the heavy load I carry at home and to still have a life outside of the house...and I do know this...I can commit to occassionally, when my schedule allows, to take you out and about or come and visit... :) HUGS!!

Kathi - It is IMPOSSIBLE for you to go to a game. There is no way to get you from the parking lot to the field. Brenda has tried to tell you that easily. We feel bad every time you ask so I personally wish you would stop.
I do not want you to think I am being mean or rude... it is simply a fact. And every time you say you wish you could go... I feel bad and Brenda feels worse. Please understand if it were somewhere more accessible - we would take you.
Yes, Kathi...next week we can get together and make a recycle run...Hmmm I have stuff that needs to go too :) I do agree with Tina on the soccor games though...it really is too difficult to get you there....it's a long uphill walk from the parking lot...then more hills and stairs...it just wouldn't work...I know you'd like to be there...and I would like for you too ...but it's gotta be something you can physically do to...So, with that...in spirit and support on the blog....we can cheer each other on!!!
