Ok, here we go again - let's rock!!Check ins, please - only had three today.

I have added Marci also to the blog list...she is new like Mandy:)

Kathi said...

Share what, Leigh Ann...how the lady asked for a roommate? I had my door open for air (I do have a metal screen door and had it locked) and she just came up and asked if she can share my "apartment"; I told her these are condos and independently owned, but she asked again..when she was ready to knock on my neighbor's door, I suggested that she put an ad in the paper; she said she can't spend too much (whatever that means); I can't have a roommate anyway b/c I'm on housing. Wasn't that weird? Thank God my screen door was closed and locked

Kathi said...

Well, it looks like I have another cousin; my first cousin's son is now a father..can't say that I'm terribly excited over it (which is not me at all..as I'm totally excited when I hear I have a new one); Josh (my cousin's son) is already a deadbeat, and he's only 19; he dropped out of high school, blew his parents off when they spent a ton of money on trying to get him correspondents' courses for him to graduate and does drugs, drinks and smokes; from what I gather on his myspace page, he didn't even bother being in town (he lives in Oregon with his (deadbeat) mom and stepdad) for the birth; this has really ripped my cousins' hearts apart, the way he's acted; I'm sort of hoping that this is a wake up call for Josh; the baby's name is Carter Ryan Casey (unless the mother decides to have her last name be his, which I wouldn't blame her for) and is GORGEOUS and looks exactly like Josh.

Happy Monday Ladies!! May your week be fantastic!!!

Kathi said...

Wow, Tina; you beat Leigh Ann to the punch..GOOD MORNING

Anonymous said...

Hey all!!! Oh I can't wait to visit the new blogs!!!! Thanks all for the great FUN Friday :D Steph...you're gonna shine!!!

I'm down 2.5 for last week...

Kathi said...

Story to tell on/about Saturday...when we were getting the group shot taken by Paul, Mandy's b/f commented that he'd never seen so many vertically challenged people at once, or whatever he said...was SOOOO funny; it was one of those "you had to be there" moments

Leigh Ann said...

Good Morning...I got to sleep in:) YAH!!! I am off to 32nd street and to the hospital...lots of paperwork for the transfer, a dental appt and a therapy appt.

Brenda,
Congrats on the weight loss:)

Kathi,
Sorry to hear about your cousin.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/04/21/earlyshow/main4029811.shtml

worth reading!! A few men of that compound in Texas were interviewed..I'm amazed and what they said....basically to me..they are saying, yes, they do marry underage girls...and they didn't think it was illegal!!!!!

Kathi said...

DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS ILLEGAL???????? That's how screwed up they are; and just how shut in that compound is

Anonymous said...

Yes, Kathi...they are shut-ins ...I wonder how much of it is BS too...the elders certainly would know...sick sick sick

Kathi said...

Yeah, you'd think so, huh? I'm sure it's all BS; have you noticed that when the women would blot their eyes, there's not one single tear coming from them? Not one of them ask how they're children are doing...they just would say "we want our children back" whenever a reporter would ask about 'em; ya know the media blows everything out of proportion...but I don't think so in this case

Anonymous said...

Good Afternoon all! Hope this week goes FAST. Or at least to get me to Thurs!! I WANT fred to come home.

Tina

Leigh Ann said...

I am going to have to visit that site...sick old men!

Hoping time flys by for you Tina:)

Got a lot of stuff donen today, which was nice...trying to get dinner done so I can veg...

Tina said...

So how is your ankle LeighAnn? Will you be playing soccer Friday? I hate that Paul is out with his knee. You can hopefully not worry as much knowing that Fred had sugery on his miniscus and it is an outpatient surgery and he handled it really well. So... if Paul did tear it - there is life after the surgery. Fred still runs every day!
Love you both!

Anonymous said...

Oh Tina, I am sure you miss him so much!
L.A. hope you and Paul heal fast... take it easy!!!
Kathi, hoping you are feeling ok... I missed the blog about your cousin....

Kathi said...

I"m sorry Nonnie missed her baby today; but glad the day went by fast.

Leighann...hoping all went ok with you yesterday with all the errands...and how are you and Paul...has Paul got his appt made...hope his MRI isn't a long wait :( I went for my bike ride yestersday and the wind made it hard...but so worth it!!! :D I must get my blog updated...Kathi saw what Steve built for Patty the guinea pig LOL...Leighann I don't think you saw it....it's this HUGE enclosure (Steve calls it a piece of furniture)I need to get it on my blog!! OMG! It's right in our family room...it originally blocked the TV so Steve cut a corner off (it's a floating enclosure on the wall 2feetx4feet)

Leigh Ann said...

Morning all,
Brenda, yes, I saw it on Saturday...very nice.

Leigh Ann said...

Tina,
I have internship...bring it Friday Night, I think Paul wants to come cheer you guys on:)

Tina said...

YAY!!! I am so glad you guys will at least be coming.!! I will bring it then!

Anonymous said...

you may have to hold Paul back Leighann...he may try to get on the field LOL :)

Tina said...

LeighAnn - you have see my silly comment to you about the cat (on my blog). hahaha

Kathi said...

Brenda, I don't know if you remember (I'm sure you don't), but you said that we're gonna go and watch P&L play on Friday..are we still doing that? If not, that's totally fine.

Anonymous said...

LOL...Oh Kathi...I think my tolerance level is getting worse in that regard...LOL...Yes...we can go watch the game...but limp and gimp aren't playing..they are cheering on their team :)

Kathi said...

Limp and Gimp.....ROFLOL; Brenda, I got your message on my blog; they don't know what kind of cancer it was; and it went to AFIP and still couldn't come up with an answer..it was just a primary tumor in my liver - primary meaning it didn't originate from somewhere else; and the LUCKY part of it was that the cancer cells were only encapsulated in the tumor; no chemo or radiation needed, only a big surgery that took 75% of my liver and gallbladder

Anonymous said...

OMG! Kathi...that much of your liver is gone!!! That's pretty scary stuff!!! Glad to hear the cancer is no longer an issue in your life!! :)

Noboyz said...

My gosh Kathi, that is incredible!!

Limp and Gimp, I love it!
too funny.

Leigh Ann, I put that check in the mail today...
the other envelope for Rayna is at my house, will mail tomorrow!

Mylee June and KK are coming by my office... smooch smooch smooch..

:)

Kathi said...

My liver isn't "gone"...The liver regenerates itself (and it's the only organ in the body that does that, by the way), so I have a fully functional (size also) liver; the liver regenerating itself is the reason why alcoholics live so long..it keeps going back to the original size after the alcohol shrinks it

Leigh Ann said...

Hi everyone, I am taking a break from working on my reseach paper - I am only two pages shy...23 pages done of the required 25 of info. Minus appendices and other required documentation.

Thanks Marci and give her a kiss from her great Aunt - damn, I'm old.

Your right Brenda, but unlike me, he is still hurting:(

Kathi, the liver is pretty amazing, ugh:)

Bye for now,
"Limp"

Tina said...

eighAnn... You are too cute. I truly admire you. Way to go Mrs Limp.
hahaha

Stephanie said...

Oh wow, Limp and Gimp...talk about a nickname that ends up sticking! :) Hilarious!

How did your workout go, Leigh Ann? What are you doing now, by the way? Lots of cardio?

I watched the Boston Marathon on Monday (well, parts of it, in between typing and laying floor boards!) and it was incredible to watch those women out front in the marathon. I am totally unprepared for that! I think the best time for ladies was around 2 hours, 26 minutes, running 26 miles. Unbelievable! Well, just going through with the half and actually finishing will be such an accomplishment for me.

The Kenyan man who won the marathon said he eats 1 meal a day, and took up smoking for a while to control his appetite. He was literally skin and bones. I felt bad for him. Think how fast he could be if he had not smoked, ever...big dummy! So, the fast ones don't carb load...they just dont eat, period. I dont know where the energy comes from. That cant be good on their hearts.

Stephanie said...

BTW, I finally picked out what I will be wearing...Underarmor, white visor, pink shirt, gray workout capris (it's supposed to be cool...John thought I should have bought shorts). Anyway, that's it. Y'all can look for me on TV! It's actually not broadcast until the following Monday on Comcast Sports Southeast...you all may not be able to find it.

Kathi said...

It's not gonna be on ESPN? It might be on CMT (the country music channel)

Kathi said...

Limp (lol), I just saw the pics on your blog of Mack as Student of the Month last month...so this is for her...

Mackenzie, you are so pretty when you dress up (you're pretty anyway, but you know what I mean); you should do it more often..I shouldn't really talk though, cuz I rarely dress up also

Stephanie said...

I did read that ESPN would have it, but I haven't heard any details on date/time. I will keep looking and let you know.

Stephanie said...

I totally agree, Kathi. All of Leigh Ann's girls are pretty. MacKenzie, with that beautiful hair and big blue eyes...lovely! :)

Kathi said...

Yeah, Paul and Leigh Ann are gonna have to beat the guys off with sticks with the two little ones. Probably already do that with Rayna.

Kathi said...

Thanks, Steph, on the info on ESPN; I hope it's regular espn and not any other ones cuz I don't have them; just have espn and espn2

off to bed now; it's 3:38am

Anonymous said...

Hey all!! Hey Tina...Leighann...what time is the game Friday night...Kathi, if it's a late game...count me out LOL...early, I'm in :)

Steph...amazing about the runners' prep routines!!!!!! WOW! I'll be on the lookout for the race...how about playback on the website vs TV?? Are you remaking a room Steph..I saw you wrote about laying floorboards...what a woman!!!

Leighann...you're paper sounds so close to completion!!!!!!!! go go go!!!

Stephanie said...

Well, Brenda, actually my dear husband is doing most of the work, but yes, we are redoing the floor in hardwood, in foyer, hall and living room in our downstairs. Roger pretty much ruined the carpet down there, but now I am kind of glad he did it, because the hardwood floor is gorgeous!
:-) We just lack a few more boards. I have to make a materials run so we can wrap it up...

Leigh Ann said...

Good Morning Everyone!!! I slept in, but not really, I woke up with and then didn't fall back to sleep until around seven...I feel like I have been hit by a truck.

I had the oddest dream...lol...we invited friends over and Brenda brought over an appetizer. It was these beautiful french fries with bites of green apples stuck on the ends of them with peanut butter...lol

Obviously, I am hungry!

Stephanie, wish I could be there at the finish line:( Have John take a picture of you in your "gear" so I can post it.

Yes, I sent my paper to the post grad assistant, Jessica, and she is going to edit it for me before I put the final touches on it!

Kathi and Stephanie, I will let Mackenzie know what you said...she will like it:) Her favorite show is Kimora...Life in the Fab Lane. I have a feeling she will not be a tomboy forever:)

On a more serious note, you should read the letters she wrote to me and Paul last Saturday night when we were at Chevy's...I will keep them forever. Bless her heart she is extremely stressed about me being gone during the week in TN...but at least now we are all talking about the situation and what we think will work for us, etc.

More homework today...oh yea, Steph, I have only done body sculpting this week. Today, I will try some cardio. Last week I was up to almost an hour of it.

Leigh Ann said...

Stephanie, I can't wait to see them and I am so excited that John knows how to do it. Whenever we get the money I am putting the guys to work:)

Anonymous said...

Steph...what kind of hardwood floors??? We're thinking bamboo for us but I'm so afraid of wear/tear...we are so rough in our house...I want the wear/tear to look good and not look like we need a new floor...any ideas?

Leighann...funny funny dream! The body sculpting sounds nice :) My heart hurts about the letter..but yes the talking about it helps to know where to direct the conversation :) I'm off to look at your blog...the citizen of the month (?) I thought was early in the blog...didn't know there was something recent on it :(

Stephanie said...

LA, funny about the hors d'oeuvres. Brenda, hmmmm....French fries with apple and peanut butter! Leave it to her to create such a masterpiece!! :-) I am sure it would be "delish"...I wonder what vitamin or mineral you are deficient in, to make you dream that!!!

John will groan, but of course will oblige to help with any flooring projects you take on! You know, you can bait him with a 6-pack! But he's killing me...he's graduated up to Land Shark beer (Jimmy Buffet's brand), Red Stripe and Red Hook Blonde, which are all around $10 for a 6-pack. I told him he'd better put in some overtime at work to compensate! :)

Can't wait til you all are back, and it summer and everything is settled in, and we can enjoy a drink by the pool! I am looking out the window at it now...it's sunny and I want to go play!

Well, back to work (with little whip-cracking sounds in the background...)

Leigh Ann said...

LOL...yes, Paul switched a couple of years ago...he is no longer a cheap drunk!

Stephanie said...

Brenda, we considered the bamboo too, but we went with American Red Oak, because it is a dark wood, and a hard wood, so we are hoping it will be less likely to damage with wear and tear. Like you said, it is supposed to have "character marks", but not look like it needs to be replaced! I loved the bamboo...if you don't have a lot of traffic (aka kids with muddy soccer cleats, dragging toys behind them, etc.) then I think the bamboo would be very nice. I think it would go beautifully with your decor, from what I have seen!
:-)

Stephanie said...

Okay, word of the day, ladies...I just spent 10 minutes looking for this one...

Dysgeusia...which is distorted sense of taste.

Ugh.

Leigh Ann said...

They must have had my appetizers...lol

Anonymous said...

OMG! I can't even say that word LOL...

I want appetizers...right now!!! LOL

Thanks for the floor education :) I'll file that in my brain for when we can afford that luxury :)

summer ...pool...beer... :( I'm gonna cry! BUT I will smile again if there pictures..on the blog... :D

Anonymous said...

Hey Kathi...I'm changing plans for Friday :( I shouldn't have jumped on the soccor tailgate...I have to be up early Saturday...I'm a greeter for a garden tour and want to feel fresh :D LOL....we'll have to get the updates for the game on the blog :D

Stephanie said...

That word is pronounced disk-CUSE-ya. Sounds like a 'C' but it was a 'G' which is why I could not find it...hazard of the job!

Leigh Ann said...

So, what does one do for that?

Stephanie said...

It is sequela of a sinus infection, apparently. She said even water tastes "funny" to her. They are treating the sinus infection and hoping the secondary stuff clears on its own.

Leigh Ann said...

Wow, who knew? LOL

Leigh Ann said...

My ankle really hurts today, I am going to take a motrin when I eat lunch and then ice it while I lay down with Dailen who is home sick -but doen't look or act sick:) I shouldn't say that she is in her jammies, wathching tv...

Paul is at the sports doc appt...

I am working on one of my presentations and am trying to download a video on hypothyroidism...exciting, I know:)

Anonymous said...

Leighann...I can just picture you girls LOL...poor things...glad to hear you're taking care of the foot :) Hope Paul's appt goes well...sounds like he's not being seen at Balboa (?) your work sounds exciting to me! Yours too Steph :)

Anonymous said...

Tina...Where are you on the miss Fred meter scale today??

Mandy...Rima...Kathi...Marci...Crystal...HELLO!!

Stephanie said...

Oh yes, Brenda, my job is definitely exciting. Very interesting, and new stuff all of the time. No two days are alike...that is why I love it. :-)

Anonymous said...

very nice Steph ..makes a difference when you love your job :D

Leigh Ann said...

PISSED OFF AND SAD...JUST DID 30 MINUTES AND MY ANKLE HURTS AND I AM JUST CRYING...ALL THESE MONTHS AND I AM NOT GONNA REACH MY GOAL...READY TO JUST GIVE UP!

Tina said...

NoNONONONONo!! No giving up.. you just have to be patient! A rolled ankle is WAY painful and takes a while to heal! Do only what you can... something is better than nothing! Focus on maintenance for a couple of weeks... give yourself a break you have done SOOO well! Here I am... UP a half pound from when we started... You are my HERO! Dont be so hard on yourself... (((HUGS)))

Tina said...

Oh...Brenda, I am at the VERY TOP of the missing Fred meter. However he comes home tomorrow!! YAYAYAYAYAY

Stephanie said...

Yes, Leigh Ann, like Tina said, give yourself a break. You have made such progress. And that day marked on you calendar is just relative. Who cares if it takes you a few weeks longer to reach your goal, working with an injury? I have no doubt you will do it. Please rest.

Leigh Ann said...

Thanks guys:)

Kathi said...

LA; you, in health care, should know this more than any of us; a twisted ankle is sometimes worse than a broken one; so please give yourself a break..AND LISTEN TO TINA

CAN I GET A WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!! Just got back from UTC to get my orthodics and they surprised me and told me that Kaiser is also picking up THE SHOES!!! That's right, ladies..no paying the $140; Doing a happy "jiggle" now. Vegas, here I come!!!!

Brenda, I'm bummed about the soccer game, but understand..we'll have to do it before they leave though; I'm not flying all the way to TN just to see a soccer game... (just kidding, Steph; I know you'd kill me if I didn't come and say hi)

Leigh Ann said...

Yes, I do know...but, it still pisses me off!

Glad you got a break on your shoes:)

Kathi said...

I know it does... would me too

That is a HUGE break; but I'M SO FRICKIN SORE NOW; my legs are killing me from walking in them; but I'm trying to convince myself that I would be A LOT MORE SORE if I had surgery to straighten my feet; it'll just take some gettin used to

Leigh Ann said...

Yes, you are right - great attitude - I will try to stay more positive:)

Leigh Ann said...

Good Morning All...tomorrow is Friday!

Anonymous said...

Hey Leighann...sorry you're feeling bummed about the gym :( You know this is an injury of time....just focus on the things you can do :) Yoga, water aerobics, and all the other stuff...I know it's hard...I went through it too!!

So happy for you Kathi :) Glad it worked out for you!!

Tina...YEA!!! Are the kids gonna go spend the night somewhere :D You'll probably play your best game tomorrow night too LOL

Kathi said...

Too funny Brenda

Well, I just got back from spending the night in the ER; I thought I was vomiting blood, so I went down there...turns out that it wasnt blood; I'm still dizzy too; doc says it might be my veritgo making its ugly appearance

Leigh Ann said...

Kathi, if it wasn't bllod, what was it? What can he do about the vertigo?

Anonymous said...

OMG Kathi! how scary!!! Yea, what was it if not blood...did you drink or eat anything red

Leigh Ann said...

Thank Brenda for your ealier support - I wish I were a more patient person...

Anonymous said...

you're welcome Leighann...that's one of the benefits of this blog :)

Anonymous said...

Happy Thursday! I have up since 5:15... got the kids up at 7:00. The house will be very clean! LOL
I cant wait. Five hours and Fred will be home!!
No Brenda... the kids will be here but since he will have been up since midnight our time... i doubt he will do much more than sleep. Tina

Anonymous said...

clap clap clap!! Yea Tina :) So very happy for you!

Anonymous said...

Kathi...I was alittle off on the Honda Element 2007 2WD gas mileage...here's the link to see the actual numbers...you'll need to put in the car info...also you can check on other vehicles too :)
my mileage is better than I thought

Leigh Ann said...

What are you guys talking about?

Anonymous said...

Kathi rode in my car and was asking about the gas mileage...

Leigh Ann said...

OH...

Anonymous said...

How was Paul's doc appt?? How is Dailen??

Stephanie said...

Just got back from being in Nashville all morning. I went to pick up my number and chip...the newsletter asked that locals participating in the race come in today to pick up their stuff, because the out of towners would make it very crowded tomorrow...well, I hate to see it tomorrow, if that is the case. They opened at 11, and Ansley and I got to the line at about 20-til, and there were about 400 people in line already!!! OMG!!! But, once they opened the doors, it moved right along. The scary part is, when I got to my corral checkpoint, it was only me and 6 other people. All of the other corral registation tables were swamped. I am really nervous now! :)

I met my pacer, and he is a total doll...about 25 years old from my guess, tall and tan. I felt my face get hot when I shook his hand. I have you all to thank for that! I didn't see his bum, but I am sure it is very cute! :-)

Stephanie said...

Brenda, thanks for the guardian angel...I am glad to know I have her come race time, and thanks for thinking of me! Maybe she will protect me from injuries and shortness of breath as well... :-)

Anonymous said...

Yes...Steph...that Angel will follow you through the race :) Sounds like your pace guy, is the guy to run with :D Very nice!! I'm so excited for you!!

As for Tina...I wonder if she's biting her finger nails right now LOL...Few hours left in her waiting for Fred!!

I just did something totally awesome....went to the Deli for lunch with the hoodlums from work...I normally order my fav pastrami sandwich...today, CHICKEN CRANBERRY :D woohoo!! I did it...I ordered something healthy!! LOL it will completely tide me over after work as I go help some friends continue to primp their garden for the tour Saturday :)

Stephanie said...

The chicken cranberry sounds great, Brenda! Happy primping! :)

Leigh Ann said...

LOL...Stephanie, that is too funny!

Kathi said...

They really don't know what it was; probably an irritation of my esophagus.

Anonymous said...

oh my gosh! Kathi, I hope you're feeling better :( darn scary!

Well, I am off to primp LOL and a happy one I am....

Leighann...How was Paul's doc appt??

Leigh Ann said...

Oh yea, Paul does have a torn MCL, but the doctor thinks with some physical therapy, surgery won't be necessary. He has to be re-evaluated in six months. PT starts asap...he still hurts:(

Kathi said...

what's MCL; I know what the ACL is; my sister tore her ACL during a softball game YEARS ago; I don't know if she ever had surgery though; she just can't play any sports now, or if she does, she has to wear a "hinge brace" on her leg..but if she did have the surgery, they would have to reconstruct it; she didn't want to have almost a year of recoopering

Leigh Ann said...

It's the ligament on the side of the menicus...

Leigh Ann said...

One class down and one to go...hopefully we will get out early 'cause we have a guest speaker:)

Kathi said...

who was the speaker? is a mcl tear as bad as an acl is?

crystal should be getting ready to go to the airport to COME HOME!!

Kathi said...

congrats on your class, leigh ann

Anonymous said...

Happy Friday everyone!!! Fred made it home safe and sound. We had lunch with the kids and then layed around and watched tv. Poor baby was so tired. He was asleep very early. Me... i tossed and turned. Oh well.. ITS FRIDAY!!!

Leigh Ann said...

Good Morning - Happy Friday:D

MCL easier from what I understand.

Glad Fred is home:)

Anonymous said...

Happy Friday to you too Leighann...Happy to hear you are one class down now :D

Happy Tina!!!!

Happy Crystal!!!!

And now...Steph!!!!!!!! WOOHOO...run run run

Anonymous said...

I so feel for Paul :( Poor guy!!! his PT sounds like it's going to be intense..Leighann how's the ankle this AM

Leigh Ann said...

It feels ok...I fixin to go to the gym, so we will see.

How are you today?

All,
If you haven't given me your information for last week's check in, please do. I need to have all of these by Sunday evening, so whenever you weigh in on the weekend is fine...just get it to me by then. I want everyone's pages up to date.

Stephanie said...

My log says I did 18 miles last week, Leigh Ann. I have been taking it easy this week, too. It is too late to train any further, now! I did 6 miles with sprints on Sunday, then 4 on Tuesday, and that is it for this week. Starting line is less than 24 hours away...I told John I am a bit nervous and he said relax, it's only running! Hmph! :-)

Leigh Ann said...

Got it...I was just wondering if you were nervous or not, your such an accomplished runner, I wasn't sure. Use your nerves to your advantage and know that we are all supporting you!!!!!

Starts at 0700,right? Heck, you may be done by the time some of us start our day:)

Anonymous said...

Hey Leighann...I'm good :) IT'S FRIDAY!! I'll weigh in Sunday AM and get it right to you :) Steph...I bet you'll be nervous and then 10 minutes into your run, you'll get into your zen mode :) But then again, I'm full of it LOL

I had a grand time playing in the dirt yesterday after work....had been helping others in their yard and now on Sunday...I'm playing all day in the dirt in our yard and I'm so excited!! :D I haven't had a chance to do anything in our yard for 2 mons! WOOHOO

Leigh Ann said...

Fun, Brenda...sounds like the perfect day - its supposed to be really hot this weekend.

I will have to check the weather in Nashville...

Leigh Ann said...

High temp is 70 which is good, but it's the humidity that will get ya!

Stephanie said...

Yeah, it's supposed to be average temperature for the race, 58 at the starting line, and 64 at the finish line. I am starting to rethink, should I go get some shorts, instead of my capris...I also heard there is a 20% chance of showers. I don't want to be chilly AND wet when I am running! What do you all think?

Yes, Leigh Ann, I am hoping that the nerves/adrenaline can be used constructively! When I run, I visualize a combination of that runner, Steve Prefontaine, really stretching out his legs for long strides, and Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump, running his ass off, to hell with form! :) I hope I don't look like that, though!

Brenda, I hope to achieve the zen mode...I will be visualizing my higher power! :) Ommmm.....

Stephanie said...

Oh yeah, starting time is 0700...

Anonymous said...

UGH! I like humidity when I visit people :) but I can't live in it or I would not be mobile in the summer... I'm going to redo the raised garden ...the area houses my bonsai and then move the orchids (if the are alive) into greenhouse, and pull weeds up on the hill :D

Stephanie said...

Well, it's not really humid here until around mid-summer. I hate it too, just makes you feel gross.

Kathi said...

It does; five years ago this August, we were all out in Chicago for a family reunion. Boy, am I ever so glad I brought my nebulizer with me; I couldn't breathe, it was so humid there..plus everything was growing; EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW

OMG! A guy was killed this AM in Solana Beach by a SHARK! Solano Beach is San Diego for those not from these parts HOW AWFUL

Stephanie said...

Yep, I thought Nashville was bad...but if you want humid, you should try Charleston, SC in mid July. Heat index was 121 when we were there. That's a combination of heat and humidity, what it feels like, for those of you lucky Californians who aren't familiar! Definitely not a good place for asthmatics!

LOL...Steph I think it was 2 years ago Steve and I were in Georgia and Florida and we toodled through this one place south of jacksonville...we got out of the car and walked a few steps and I sat on a rock and shook my head LOL...back in the car we went for a tour around town, in the air conditioned car...UGH I am familiar...we lived in Pensacola for 4 years...but I was younger then and didn't care...now, I care LOL

Kathi said...

We get our fair share of humidity, but I'm sure it's nothing like it is in the midwest or down south. Either last summer or the summer before, it was AWFUL here

Yeah, wasn't that sad, Brenda? Wonder what the Great White was doing up in our area..probably hungry

For those east coasters, shark sightings are very rare here..we get leopard sharks every year, but they're harmless..you can swim with those and never have a problem

Anonymous said...

kathi...was it a great white????? Ohhhh scary!

Stephanie said...

That is scary to hear about the great white, Kathi.

We were watching a show on sharks on Discovery, and apparently the Atlantic is one of the worst places on the planet for shark attacks. The violent ones. OMG. I let my child in the water in Charleston. East or West coast, I think I will keep my butt out of the ocean...Brenda, I did not know you lived in P-Cola (as Leigh Ann calls it!) :-) I have cousins there, my mother tells me.

Anonymous said...

yes...lived there back in the mid 70s :) nice then...no thank u now LOL...I can't imagine swimming out there in the Atlantic or Australia no no no

Okay, it is 0351 here, and I am having my coffee...it is RAINING HARD! :(

Forecast called for rain, so I knew it. It is 30% chance of scattered showers, mainly before 1000, so looks like I am going to get wet. On the bright side, it is 67 degrees right now, so at least it will be relatively warm...it will probably feel great. I have run in the rain before! I have on my smudge-proof mascara, because Goth is only good when you are going for that look :)

I am going to have my veggie burger and hit the road. See you all on the other side!

Well everyone... while LA jumps outta bed to go work out... and Steph jumps outta bed to run a marathon... I have jumped outta bed to go have a mani and pedicure. LOL!!
Have a great day. Oh, LeighAnn... Im flat for the week again.

Kathi said...

Congratulations, Steph; what a huge accomplishment. I'm very proud of you

I'm sick and I hate it. Coughing, sneezing, sore throat :(; maybe it's just allergies, but it still SUCKS; I think part of the reason I'm sick is cuz my IHSS person never came to pick me up from the ER thursday, and I waited in the frickin freezing weather (it was like 0600 when I got done) for about an hour - and I was in shorty jammies and a short robe

CRYSTAL IS BACK ON US SOIL....WOOO HOOO

Stephanie said...

Okay, I made it back home...whew! I loved it, but I am so happy it is over! I learned a lot, and lots of things happened to cause my time to be so bad...first of all, as I said, it was raining, through about the first half of the race. I ran into the worst traffic I have ever been in while trying to get there, and I almost didn't make the starting line, even though I left the house 2 hours before the race. I had to park 2 miles away and sprint to the line! I didn't even make my corral. They had already released it by the time I got there, so I ran in the 2nd one. I never even saw my pacer! To top it off, I left my IPOD in the car, so I was really mad about having to run without it!

The major thing I learned is that the Nashville course is EXTREMELY HILLY! I trained on a treadmill, and it showed. It was very challenging and slowed me down a lot.

Other than that, it was fun! The lack of IPOD enabled me to hear some interesting conversations among the runners during the race! :)

Kathi said...

I'm sorry all those things happened Steph; YOU NEVER SAW YOUR PACER?????? awwww; not butt to look at

Anonymous said...

Good job on finishing stephanie. Definitely running outside is very different than running on a treadmill, but you did it, that's awesome.

I've been so out of it lately. Very busy at work, deadlines approaching.

And my sister had her baby. First grandkid in the family. He is so cute. I am officially an Aunt!

Stephanie said...

Excellent news on the baby, Rima. Understood about the deadlines at work, too...I am happy to be able to focus on them now that my run is complete! I have never been happier to just sit in my chair!

Kathi, I am sorry you had that trouble. I hope you are feeling better now! And nope, I never saw my pacer, he was long gone by the time I got there, with a few minutes headstart on me! I tried to make it up, but didn't want to burn out with the whole race ahead of me!

Leigh Ann said...

Wow, Stephanie, talk about stress!

Kathi, I hope you feel better.

Rima, Congrats on being an Aunt:)

Anonymous said...

I just logged on!! Haven't had a chance to go to the run website to see if there are pics of Steph..but the one here on the blog is so sweet :) Congrats Steph on such an amazing challenge ...you're a superstar!! I can't imagine the obstacles you jumped before the run even began. WOW!!! How are you feeling now...what were you feeling during the race...how did you feel after the race LOL....clap clap clap

Anonymous said...

Rima...Congrats!!!! Auntie :)

Kathi...I'm sorry to hear about you being sick!!! Take care of you!!

Welcome home Crystal...I'm headed to her blog :)

I just got back from being a greeter at Phil and Janet's garden tour...actually it wasn't their tour but a women's univeristy group scheduled 5 garden tours to raise monies for women..and this was one of the stops..very fun!

Kathi said...

I'm trying to take care of me, but I feel like shit. I"m doing my nebulizer, cough medicine, cold eeze (things you suck on that has zinc in them...they help decrease the symptoms of a cold, but so far, no such luck). I need some juice

Stephanie said...

Brenda, before, I was feeling butterflies, very energetic, we're talking feet bouncing up and down in the car on the way over there...I have managed in the last year or so to work out profanities from my vocab, for the most part, but I tell you, today I said some bad stuff, waiting on the interstate! :) I had the music up and was just having a good time until that point! I didn't really have time to feel anything during the race, except the sense of urgency, knowing I needed to catch up. I felt so good when I hit that last half mile and I could actually see the finish line, even though my legs were killing me...the girl who was running right beside me barely made it across the line before she doubled over and barfed, poor thing. Right there, with everyone watching.

Right now, I am feeling very content, and very sore! Thanks for asking!

Noboyz said...

WOW Steph, you did great, rain and all... I just wish we could have heard about some tight buns!! ha

Tina, Brenda, Kathi, Rima, Leigh Ann.... I tried to scroll back and catch up.... shit, I miss too much.... :(

We Christened the baby tonight after church... it was beautiful... will try and get some pics up... on my blog.... (a sad little blog, but I am learning)...
it's mostly Mylee, so I have to download my vacation pics...

Kathi, take care of yourself... sounds miserable...

Marci

Kathi said...

It is miserable, Marci; I HATE COLDS; but thankfully my parents are coming to bring me juice, milk and water... on top of everything else, I think I have a fever..i'm so done after my parents leave.
