Is this true? Bottled water in your car.....very dangerous, woman!!!! This is how Sheryl Crow got breast cancer. She was on the Ellen show and said this same exact thing. This has been identified as the most common cause of the high levels in breast cancer, especially in Australia. A friend whose mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The Doctor told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car.The doctor said that the heat and the plastic of the bottle have certainchemicals that can lead to breast cancer. So please be careful and do not drink bottled water that has been left in a car, and, pass this on to all the women in your life. This information is the kind we need to know and be aware and just might save us!!!! The heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the water and they have found these toxins in breast tissue. Use a stainless steel Canteen or a glass bottle when you can!!!
WOW...I knew that we shouldn't drink from them left in the cars due to carcinogens....but I had noooo idea about the breast cancer link and Sheryl Crow!! Incredible! Figures...makes me mad that there is no safety label on the bottles, like the cigarette packs :( Thanks Leighan for that important info !
Marci, Good luck and let us know how it goes. I am not sure if it is true or not...but, Brenda has heard of it as well. If I get some time, I will research it.
well you just never know what is a hoax and what isn't... but this girl is not going to be drinking in hot water from a car... or cold water that used to be in a hot car!!!
LOL...it is a hoax. Here is what I found on the American Cancer Society press release page:
These emails are apparently based on a student’s college thesis. In fact, DEHA is not inherent in the plastic used to make these bottles, and even if it was the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says DEHA "cannot reasonably be anticipated to cause cancer, teratogenic effects, immunotoxicity, neurotoxicity, gene mutations, liver, kidney, reproductive, or developmental toxicity or other serious or irreversible chronic health effects." Meanwhile, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), says diethylhexyl adipate "is not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans."
It's a bottle that you buy... and you mix it with water.. so that's really the only thing besides my usual diet coke in the morning and water... you are supposed to lose up to 10 lbs in 2 days.... I usually lose about 7 or 8... b/c I'll eat like crackers if I get so hungry I can't stand it or green beans...
just a good jump start, and then I can get focused...
KK just got in from school, a girl at school, she doesn't even really know her, brought her a present, the grandmother smocked a gorgeous pink dress with roses across and a matching bonnett.... like gorgeous!!!!!
We have our check list and have started going thru things...most of our stuff is already in storage. Tori is going to fly out and help us drive back...she was driving us nuts about it. I guess her and a couple of her soccer buddies are coming out - they are only staying for 1 week.
She was telling me how she has been working out and all, since November she has lost 17 pounds...I am very proud of her!
Wow! Go Tori, I am proud of you too. that is incredible. :) That is also way sweet they will help ya'll with the driving and moving... any help is great!
brenda, i would TOTALLY go to callahan's, but i'm not sure if there's a bus that goes out there; and how late they run, if there is one; i would so love to see dana though; i didn't know she worked there
Well, I am just catching up on the blog entries, and have responded to a couple but deleted them! I talked to my brother today and got some bad news about my mother, and it's really messing me up now...her lymphoma is back, and my brother said she has been bulimic really bad since her last surgery several years ago. I am so out of touch with them, I had no idea, and he is really chewing my ass for leaving him to deal with it. I don't know how to help her, because she won't let anyone help. Not good bedtime thoughts.
Steph, I will be thinking of you and your mom and brother tonight and hopefully something can be done to help your mom. Where do they live? Hopefully he can get pass things and ya'll can help each other andd your mom.
Steph...I'm so sorry to hear your news :( I hope whatever you do, brings you peace...I'll say prayers for you :)
Leighann...very cool about Tori and her friends :) I would have already had the pictures off the walls...etc....I used to pack 3 months ahead LOL...I'm odd that way...
Kathi...I would have taken you over there but I just got home :( Maybe sometime in April, we can do a happy hour there when Dana is working :)
Marci :) How sweet about the dress..there are great people in the world, aren't there :D
I'm a mess...my ankle gave out again ...this time, in the back yard as I had a handful of stuff carrying to the car...the ankle that gives out is GOOD ...BUT...hurt the other foot AGAIN and this time skinned my knees on the pavement...I think I need to tighten the ligaments on the right ankle so it quits giving out on me :( ...The amazing thing was...I didn't break anything I was carrying!!!! LOL
that's amazing that you didn't break anything as you went down; it does sound like you need to have those ligaments tightened...too bad you can't do it yourself, huh? screw driver, anyone? april's my birthday month, so happy hour sounds fun.
steph, i'm sorry about your mom; and that your brothers isn't letting you hear the end of it; he should be more supportive with you not being there everyday. i'll be praying for you guys...
Thanks, everyone. I did get a little rest, and I feel a little better. I don't know that there is anything I can do for my mother, except call her and encourage her to go to the doctor. I can't take off. It certainly wont help her or me for me to become unemployed. She probably needs an honest person to go to the doctor with her, or someone to call her oncologist and tell them about her eating disorder. I am sure she isn't telling them, though after that long, I would think her upper GI has to be showing obvious signs of it. She's had reflux disease since I was little, I remember, but maybe that was a cover? I am so confused. She has been through a lot and I don't know how to help her be strong. Now the psychological stuff is manifesting physically. She is a fortune waiting to happen for some lucky therapist. And now, she and my sister live together, and they really enable each other.
Sorry to vent about stuff so personal, I know I don't know most of you that well, but I really am down to either telling you all, or talking to the dog. :) Thank you all for being so kind as to listen!
Brenda, nurse that ankle! Do you wear anything for support? I use one of those neoprene sleeve thingies sometimes when my knee feels like its gonna give...they make them for every joint in your body, seems like! Though, I don't know if it would help the ankle heal, or make it weaker by being dependent upon that extra support. Hmmmm. I would definitely go see somebody about that one. Maybe they can give you some suggestions on PT.
Steph...you can feel comfortable sharing here :) It's a good place to fnd support.. I used to be the one in my family to feel like I was suppose to be in the thick of all the junk...but as I grow as a person, I'm finding that when I deal with issues as enabling, etc...I have to step back and only do what I feel I can do and then turn to friends for support of my decisions etc...SO warm hugs from me as you go through this!!!
Kathi...your birthday is in April, then for sure we should get a group and head to Callahans :)
I'm going to research on how to strengthen my ankle...at one time I did wear a support but it didn't help, but then again...I don't think I was strengthening the ankle at the same time as I wore it...I think both together is what I need to do :) that's going to be the plan..thanks for the ideas for me
Marci, Thanks for your prayers with my mom, I really appreciate it:) Brenda, Ouch...yes, you need to find some PT exercises that will help both ankles. Steph, We are all hear to listen, no worries there, and you can only do what you can. Some felt I should have flown down to see my mom...hell, I can barely get her to talk to me and I can't flunk out of school. So, try not to be pressured and do not beat yourself up! Kathi, Hopefully we can all get together for your b-day, when is it?
Yes, Brenda lots of stuff going on over there that mom and sibs blame on their childhood/situations. There's lots of wallowing, and you cant grow unless you stand up and stop wallowing. I don't hang with wallowers, and I will not apologize for that. I just wish there were more resources for my mother.
Leigh Ann, of course, my last comment was directed toward members of my family who cannot or will not be productive adults who work and care for their families. Not toward people who despite the bad stuff, still make incredible accomplishments and are devoted to their families. Love you!
(I thought about it after I said it, and wanted to clarify. I didn't want to seem insensitive)
We are all grown women, so of course as a parent you have to care for your children, your husband, and yourself first or you can't help anyone. Sometimes prayers are the best answers and the only thing that we can do for others. The want to get better has to be there first, then the doctors can heal someone.
Brenda!!!!!! you should have purchased Kathi's scooter!!! those ankles..
Leigh Ann, KK received your package yesterday, how precious the little hat and booties and the onesies..... thanks thanks thanks.... will have to post a picture of Miss Mylee June in that for sure. :)
Leighann and Steph that saying right above the comment box reminds me of both of you :) I like it!
Can't wait to see the baby pics Marci with the cute crocheted items Leighann made for her....darnit, she's been back to back with baby items...I'll never get my PONCHO or WRAP LOL!! (just kidding Leighann)
Steph, No worries and your right - everyone has choices. Marci, Glad she liked them...and I can't wait to see a pic! Brenda, Thanks for the vote of confidence! And between you and Dailen (she wants a poncho as well) I better get busy!
So right Leigh Ann on the fact that everyone has choices... and every family has something going on, so don't feel like the lone ranger.... hell, 3 of my 4 sisters are pissed that we are keeping the baby... they wouldn't even come to the baby shower... how screwed up is that? and at this point in my life and with the help of Effexor XR 300 mg.... I don't give a shit what they think... LOL
Marci, Good for you...it is hard doing what you think is right, especially when you come up against opposition. But your gut and your heart are leading you, so you have to stand strong to your own covictions and basically to hell with everyone else! It isn't easy, so my hat is off to you and Mike and KK - lots of love to you all. Brenda, What color whould you like...cause I am off to shop for the Easter Bunny at Walmart...LOL...and I can pick up some yarn.
OMG Brenda.... maybe a poncho!!! LOL Leigh Ann you are so talented. I wish I knew how to do that.
Thanks so much, I know we are doing the right thing... I will just have all the smooches to myself!!! they won't get any... My mom who is 76 years old, told them to kiss her butt!!! LOL she's a trip.... she's done so much to help me financially and emotionally.. she is my rock along with Mike and my one true sister.
hi; my birthday is april 12 (saturday); going out sounds fun; but usually i go out to eat with my parents/family on the day; can we do it either friday or sunday?
are you guys keeping up on crystal's blog? she's in malawi and has the court hearing in about an hour and a half "our" time (malawi's nine hours ahead of ca)
doctor on monday went well; i have REALLY tight achilles tendons, so i have to wear night splints to stretch them out; also have to go to pt; and wear orthodics
i'm saving that money, marci; still got it all in my savings
No, the weather was not good. It was 73 but WINDY! I'm talking 40 mph gusts. It was bad. Definitely not a day to wear lip gloss and your hair down. Everyone is familiar with that phenom, right? ;-)
I was worried there was going to be another tornado, but I didn't hear of any in the state.
I actually called my mother and she was happy until I mentioned that I had talked to my brother about some of her health issues and that he was very worried...she told me to change the subject or she was hanging up. Well, she is a grown woman, so I guess she will ask for help when she's ready. But being the oldest/most financially sound, I am sure I will be left to sort out all of the crap when it's over. I don't look forward to that day, nor to the thought of losing my mother. I don't see her that often, but you know, you think they will always be there, and you can pick up the phone and talk whenever you want. My mother and father live within a 50-mile radius, and I haven't seen either of them in years (dad, since my 11-year-old was an infant). Very sad.
That's got to be hard Steph. Yack anytime... we all listen....
I am lucky that I have a wonderful relationship with my mom.... :) and hopefully have the same type of relationship with my children when they are older.
Leighann...I would love to own something from from you...that you made :) anything..any color...but only at your convenience!! You have little ones in line just waiting :)
Marci...sounds like you have been through alot with family stuff (outside of the ex issues)...I feel for you!!!!!!!! I like what Leighann said about that :)
Steph....your comment about the lipgloss and the wind reminded me of last Saturday, I was rock collecting in the desert with straight line winds LMAO!! I never go without LIPBALM and the sand really stuck to it...I can laugh now about it but it was rough!! Picture this...on a hill of rocks in the distance, there's Brenda on top hanging on to her bucket flying behind her...fighting the wind and sand...all for a ROCK LOL :)
Kathi..my gosh...night splints!!! Hang in there!! You're tough! I looked at my calendar..and Steve and I will be out of town from April 10-13 ..we're going to see Barry Manilow in Vegas...and go find more ROCKS :) Leighann...maybe your family and Tina's would like to join in sometime in April for this birthday event at Callahans!!!! :D If you are able to let me know available dates and we can go from there! Marci...Steph...you guys can take the red eye west...we'll pick you up at the airport :D
Steph, Sorry to hear about the wind...I was just referencing the temp. I hope your mom gets the medical attention she needs. Kathi, Hope those splints help the pain in your legs. Marci, Yes, you are inspirational...just don't mention me in your book;) Brenda, We will have to plan an outing around ya'll trip to Vegas.
Marci, me included, there are 8 of us, plus my stepsister who was always around, too. Older brother is half, we share same mom, then me, little sister and little brother are full-on sibs, then 4 of those are half sibs from my dad's second marriage. I know Leigh Ann can relate!
Brenda, I loved reading about your desert adventure! How fun! And yummy...sand in your lip balm. Who needs dermabrasion, when you can get your face sandblasted while on a rock quest! Talk about multitasking.
On the flip side, have you ever swam in a lake, and the mud in the shallows squishing between your toes...I don't know what made me think of that! 10 years old, cut-off jeans and flip flops, and my nose and shoulders sunburned. Yikes!
I have to clarify, the reason I was standing in the shallows in the squishy mud, is because I freak out when the bottom goes away and I cant touch. I don't swim..ask Leigh Ann...and it ain't just because I don't like getting my hair wet.
Yes, I don't see how they managed to feed us all. I gripe all the time about the weekly grocery bill, with just 4 of us, 1 in diapers. When did I become such a coupon-hoarding tightwad? White sale, my ass...wait till the store goes out of business!! c:)
too funny; i can sort of relate too with the sibs; i'm the youngest of four;
not sure how long i have to wear the splints; at least until i see the doc again in two months, i'm guessing; right now though, there is no surgery in my future; he says that'll just make it worse; and i don't want that; leigh ann, i'm not sure if it's helping the pain right now...i can certainly feel the tendons stretch; won't know if it's actually helping the pain until i walk or stand for a long period of time
OMG!! Steph..that's one BIG family! WOW! I know Leighann came from a big one too! Amazing!
That's funny about the mud...I did pay once to go to a spa that had mud caves...it was a very FUNNY experience with me and a friend of mine...we were totally the odd ones there LOL...I have swam in a lake with my toes in the mud...but I get scared...I'm always afraid of lake monsters!!! LOL And to think the ocean has so much more in it...but I no longer get out past my waist in the ocean
OK all I'll check back in tomorrow!! Have a good one!! Hope Tina is enjoying her week off from work ( I think she said she had a week off)
we always left early in the morning with a net and bucket for crawfish.... and my mom used to yell, don't forget to grab your knives!!! LOL, 7 years old, don't forget my knife?? (for sugarcane)
Brenda, lake monsters! Yes, I remember crying when I thought I was getting shocked under the water, but it was just the little fish having nibbles on my legs. Don't laugh; I was scared! To this day, I don't like to be in water where I can't see what's in there with me.
Leigh Ann and Marci, I can see you two out barefoot, chopping down sugar cane and crawfish-ing. Very cute! Sounds like it's straight out of a Tom Sawyer story.
Hello Ladies!! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. Things are crazy around here... hubby and i are ripping down wall paper. WHEW - I think that stuff was hung with CEMENT!!! Hope everyone is doing well! Have a great week if I dont get back here till later. :o)
sounds like fun...although i would never jump off a bridge; i used to be scared to walk under overpasses; still kind of freaks me out a bit; amd i'm TERRIFIED of tunnels...
OH Leigh Ann.... of course I was probably 19 by the time I did that... but we did that every weekend... and floating down the river!!! of course with an icechest tied to our ankle with beer!!! LOL
WOW..you too Marci have lots of siblings!! What a trip reading about you two (Leighann and Marci) going after sugarcane and crawfish!!!! I've read about things like that in my National Geographic Magazines LMAO
It's amazing the things we used to do and wouldn't let our kids do...I remember my parents putting us outside in the morning and we couldn't go back in til lunch then back out we were put til dinner LOL....that was when I was really little...then I became the family's housekeeper like Cinderella's step sister..oh the memories...I have a younger sister and 2 older brothers
Leigh Ann, thank goodness we didn't meet until we were 19 years old... but I don't think anyone could have handled us together before that!!! LOL So much alike in so many ways.... LMAO
Marci, beer at 19...OMG! I was a late bloomer. I had my first beer at my mother's insistence, 6 months into my 21st year, at my mom's 40th birthday party at a bar, which incidentally was the night I met my husband...busy night!! :0
Brenda, we were also made to get out of the house, and stay out, all day. We couldn't even come in for a drink and were made to drink out of the "hose pipe". Southern girls know what a hose pipe is...I have met people who arent from here, who call it a garden hose!!! But yuck, that hot water, and hose taste! You had to let it run a minute, or scald yourself. And if you had to pee, go to the neighbor's! My poor parents, with all of those kids...now I understand why they wouldn't let us in. There were always several kids playing in every yard. But you can't turn your kids loose like that now.
omg; you're right, steph; we could stay out all day...have the romp of the neighborhood...we'd just have to come back in when the street lights came on; my older sibs and another family who we grew up with used to play "pull the rope"...what the hell is pull the rope, you might ask? let's just say it involved a very long piece of twine, a very busy street we lived off of and usually one of MY baby dolls;
Brenda, my dad was military too, but by the time I came along, (#6) he was retired with 30 years in the Navy. I didn't have to do the travel scene like my older siblings. It sounds kind of neat though to be able to say, I have lived here and here..... I've lived in Gonzales and Kentwood... that's it...
Yes, and he didn't marry my mom until he was 42 and my mom was 26... and he had 7 kids.... he was 53 when my brother was born... crazy huh.... 7 kids in 11 years...
I tried to get Samantha to join.... she thought I was nuts!!! LOL
MARCI!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!! LOL That is just wild LOL
Yes, Leighann...Steve retired from the Navy with 24 in...I think that's how many years my dad retired with...he wanted to go longer but my mom's heart condition had him pull out before he was ready to...you're retiring with alot of years too Leighann!!! The separation syndrome most retirees get when they get out...Leighann, I think you've been going through most of it while you were here going to school...It's very odd, isn't it...I was only in for 4 years and had it...I can't imagine the emotions when you've been in all you adult life...WOW
Brenda, My dad died almost 7 years ago,he was 83, on Father's day, Gabrielle was 6 weeks old, she is the youngest granchild (21 altogether) so he was able to meet all of his grandchildren. Gabrielle "saw and spoke"with him until she was about 5 years old. I know it seems crazy, but she could tell you stories about her paw paw that there is no way she would know.... it was spooky sometimes...
I didn't realize you were in the Navy as well.... that's awesome all of you serving our country!!!!
That's very sweet Marci about your dad and all the grandkids and Gabrielle remembering those stories :D sorry he's gone :(
my Navy time was so very brief!! LOL...I would have stayed but they wanted to send me to Japan for 3 years without my husband and 2 kids...nope...didn't re-up...Leighann..thank God you'll be so close to see yours!!!!!!!!! YES!
Leigh Ann, John says tell you he can't wait to come to P-Cola and check it out. Maybe it's me, but man, that drive bites! It's cool when you're 18 and on a road trip to spring break, otherwise it's just work! You will need some stowaways to keep you company.
Maternal Grandfather: Navy Paternal Grandfather: Navy Dad: Army Uncle: Marine Corps Two brothers: Navy Husband: Navy, briefly And that girl I look up to, (Leigh Ann) - Navy
is there a possibility of you being deployed??? OMG!! guess anything is possible in the navy;
marci, i've heard of that; where children "speak to" or "see" deceased members of the family; saw it on montel one time when he had sylvia browne (a medium) on; she called the deceased family members their "spirit guides" i'm a total believer in that stuff...
and it wasn't just my baby doll that was sacrificed when they played pull the rope; what you do is stretch the twine across a busy street just as cars go by...and watch the twine get tangled in the car (if you weren't smart and let go of the twine at the point of "impact", you'd get taken down the street with it); would be hysterical if a guy went by on a motorcycle (very dangerous, too, obviously); yes, my siblings were AWFUL; another time they tricked a neighbor into thinking he was eating chocolate when he was really eating ex-lax (you can imagine what the result of that was)
yes, she totally talked to my dad... she was only 6 weeks old when he died.. and she could tell you everything he did as a teenager and as an adult... yes, I totaly believe now in that shit... it's scary though... seeing some of the things she woudl say...
Steph, The only part I hate about the drive is the two laners...and it will be fun for you guys to come and visit! Never knew there were so many Vets in your family - wow. And thank you! Kathi, As far as being deployed...yes, I have been told two different things: it won't happen because of my specialty and get ready to leave after 6 months on board. So, we will see. Marci, Too weird...does she ever talk about it now? How is she doing?
Steph, not much military Maternal Grandfather: army Dad: Navy and of course Mike's Dad: army... but that's about it..... of hello: sister in law: Navy.. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gabrielle is doing awesome on her meds... since being diagnosed with the epilepsy...
she hasn't "talkeed" to my dad in about 1 1/2..... but is was extremely spooky... she almost made my mom pass out when she was about 2 1/2 from what she said....
my dad ate jelly on anything... and when Gabbi was about 2 years old, she told my mom, put jelly on her hamburger b/c her Paw Paw said it was good.... My mom almost fell off her chair... she turned white... remember, Gabrielle was 6 weeks old when dad died.... she said paw paw always gave her "little" clothees to put on b/c that is the last time he saw her... spooky!!!!
I have plenty of "sitings" and scary things from that...
that's why I totally believe in seeing people after death now... b/c of this.... there is no way she would know things about my dad... she was 6 weeks old when he died and she talked about things when he was a teenager and when he married my mom.... scary....
lot's of WOW things to read here tonight :) Just got back from spending the evening with my parent's...did dinner at Boll Weeval (I had the smallest burger EVER LOL) and a few fries..Mmmmm miss those !!! THen back to my parents to visit ...nice evening..Steve is sick..but holding up!!
IT'S AN ABSOLUTE GIFT. What does your family say about her being able to do this? I know your mom almost passed out; but what about your siblings? Even though she doesn't remember him, she had a relationship with her paw paw; which is awesome in my book.
Wow Brenda, Minnesota! How is it up there? I have only been as far north as Paoli, IN, to ski, which was a total fiasco, and awful. It's a huge hill, man-made snow that year (which was fun to have the snow machines going when I was on the lift!!). And we stayed in a hotel in French Lick, which basketball fans know is home of Larry Bird. I am pretty sure that's all that ever came out of there. Talk about rural...
Is fall pretty up there, like I have heard about northern states?
Leigh Ann, good for you, playing hooky from school. Good luck with your Egg-stravaganza...
Oh yes, I wanted to mention that if anybody goes through there, yikes, the accommodations are really bad. Terrible hotel that we ended up in, last minute sort of thing. Had it not been so cold, I would have crashed in the car. I slept on my coat, on top of blanket!! I hate hotels.
yes, they're germy, but i love hotels (don't like it much when you're forced into one, like when we had the fires); that's one of the reasons i can't wait till july; love 'em.
I won't be stopping in French Lick anytime soon, sounds like; and what a hell of a name for a town...LOL; but we did get the "Bird" from there, you're right, steph.
Hey Steph...what an experience there in Indiana!!! funny!!...I have friends that live in Indiana (their home state) I'll ask her if she's been there...if not, I'm sure her kids would enjoy it :)
My family are mainly in and around the twin cities...but both sides landed in southern Minnesota and the family farms are still there!!! I'm second generation here in the US from Sweden on mom's side...Their voyage started on the Titanic...we lost family on it...a man and son went down and the mom and daughter were saved. My gramma her siblings and parents were scheduled to be on the Titanic but someone got sick prior and they rescheduled for the next ship...
Leighann..did you all have fun decorating eggs last night??? I'm not doing any this year :( Unless I do them tonight LATE LOL...gosh, I might feel guilty and do it! Allyson's friend Stephanie arrived from Dallas yesterday and Brooklyn arrives tonight....I better do something...This is the first year in 21 years that I haven't been on top of events, thus far in 2008! Not good! OK I better get working now LOL
Brenda, interesting to hear about your people on Titanic. I mean, what an incredible tragedy and I am sorry for you, but it is interesting to hear about all of the scientific theories they came up with. My son was obsessed with that story and everything about the ship when he was about 5 years old. We even found a 1/10 scale replica of the ship at Barnes and Noble, and he had to have it. It took on water and broke in half and everything, when you put it in the water. Jonathan played with it in the tub, forever. Kinda morbid, I know, but he cried for the thing, and loved it. What can you do? :)
I don't actually think it was 1/10 scale, because that would still be huge, but you know what I mean. It was about the length of your forearm. Sorry for my poor mathematics. I like to think I'm not a dummy!
I knew exactly what size it was with your description! LOL...small enough for the tub...your no dummy!
This am, Rayna is having her physical exam and then she will get the Gardisil (sp) shot - 1st one of the series...and they said something about Menigitis...any thoughts?
Really...Paul was like we don't need in Tn! Guess shes gettting two. She is training for HS Soccer and LOL she has NO upper body strenth...Paul has been working with her and her arms are so sore:) Now, on the hand, the first time she went to run on the treadmill, I was sitting her doing homework...and I was like so how long are you suppossed to run...shes like 45 minutes or so. I told her to build herself up to that...came back all sweaty...and told me...that wasn't so bad - she ran for 45 minutes straight! Steph, she gets that from you!
Brenda, even on your most unorganized day you have me beat! Did it last night because Mackenzie is spending the night with a friend and I didn't want to try and do those and Easter baskets tomorrow night...and then Sunday we are off the LegoLand - the kids are going to be so surprised!!!Hell, I am excited - I love that place...last time we went my dad was here, Dailen was a newborn.
Wow, way to go Rayna. Keep up the endurance stuff on the treadmill! It's boring, but you can always watch TV while you do it. A perk, you don't get with outside running...
The upper body strength training will probably come pretty easy for her. Her body weight being what it is, she won't have too much to compensate for! It's when the lower body is heavy and no upper body strength, that's a bad combo. I still cant do a pullup, no matter how much strength training I do. I am sure she will blow the girls here away...not to mention the boys :) (Sorry for that, but had to say it, Legoland Leigh Ann!)
Hey...that's funny Steph about the tub toys :) As for scale size...I don't know the numbers LOL
WOW!! Rayna ran for 45 minutes straight!!!!!!!!! clap clap clap!!! WTG!
Leighann...hope all goes well with the vaccinations...I know nothing on that...scary as a parent! How exciting about Legoland!!
Steph...I'm fascinated on the story of the Titanic history too...not because I had relatives on it..but just the story itself...as for ship history...my dad (not biological...but he raised me so he is my dad)he had relatives on the MAYFLOWER LOL...Now that...I have no history lessons on...I need to look into it ...but my dad does have charted who was on it..what a trip!
Thanks and congrats to you, too! She got her shots and she is good to go...for a while at least. They couldn't get over how much she had grown since her last visit....she is 5'4 - 1/2" - however the hell you write that...what is up with the damn number thingees! 5'5" with her shoes - first thing she did was call Tori:)
yeah, let us know how the guardisil thing goes...i've been curious as to find out if my SIL got my two older nieces (almost 12 and 15) vaccinated; i'll have to ask when i see them on sunday.
brenda, the MAYFLOWER????? Oh, you have to ask about that one. All I know about my relatives, is like everyone else, they came through Ellis Island in NY.
I hate to ask this, but can someone take me to the store? I need moo juice (or if someone's out and about and stops for me, I have to have the lactose free milk) thank you.
did you guys see crystal's blog today? she actually gives a report this time...i can't tell you how happy i am for her and shane; too bad shane is so sick though...hopefully he'll be better by the time they get home
Yes, I just left there...it is so neat! ALMOST makes me want one:) And then I really think about: braces, puberty, driving, college...yeah, I am over it!
Im finally here.. such a long day... Mike has been a "bad" bear.. such a butt... LOL go to the camp.. just go.. get you some boy time.... go go go.... we will be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!
so much going on with everyone... How was Rayna's first shot????
Glad to hear you're good now Kathi :) and I must head over to Crystal's blog!!!!!!! yes, Kathi..the Mayflower LOL...your family is from NY ...very cool! OMG I can't believe how tall Rayna is LOL...that's so Rayna to call her sister :) love it!!!
Oh, Leigh Ann...I know this one. It's 5 feet, 4-1/2 inches. We don't use the "feet" and "inches" symbols in text. (An excerpt from my Nitpickers Collegiate Dictionary, 3rd Edition... :)
It's hilarious that Rayna is competitive with Tori on height. As long as the love's still there! My sister used to get downright MEAN with the stuff she would do to try to out-do me. She has me on the height as well. She is almost 5 feet, 10 inches. A huge beast of a girl...(just kidding! She is very cute...long red hair, blue eyes...)
MacKenzie is such a caring person with a great big heart!
Kathi, Paul has told me that when I retire, if I want to, I could be a foster parent and that is all I want, if that. Kids only get more expensive as they get older - it was just a joke! And, I finally got Britneys song off of my blog, so now you can hear Mackenzie's award. Marci, Funny about Mike...and Rayna's shots went well, she got the Meneginitis (sp), too. How do you spell that, Stephanie? And, thanks for the info on the feet vs. " - it's gets complicated even when I am writing my papars. So, I will be using it! Brenda, That granny story cracks me up, too! Well, I am off to the gym:)
it's spelled m e n i n g i t i s; i'm glad that she got it; not, it wasn't britney's song that was on there, it's jordan sparks; and it was still on there when i came over here....hmmm; let me go see; hang on

Happy Birthday Tina!!! And everyone have a great Sant Patrick's Day!!!
You too Leighann...are you wearing green?? LOL I had to tape a clover to my jacket! :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN TINA!!!!!
Is this true?
Bottled water in your car.....very dangerous, woman!!!!
This is how Sheryl Crow got breast cancer. She was on the Ellen show and said this same exact thing. This has been identified as the most common cause of the high levels in breast cancer,
especially in Australia. A friend whose mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The Doctor told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car.The doctor said that the heat and the plastic of the bottle have certainchemicals
that can lead to breast cancer. So please be careful and do not drink bottled water that has been left in
a car, and, pass this on to all the women in your life. This information is the kind we need to know and be aware and just might save us!!!! The heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the
water and they have found these toxins in breast tissue. Use a stainless steel Canteen or a glass
bottle when you can!!!
WOW!
I had heard that before, but thought it was a hoax email.... there are so many out there.... good info Leigh Ann...
Happy Birthday Tina!
I am starting my 2 day "Hollywood" liquid diet... hopefully I can do it and give me a jump start and detox!
Marci
Marci,
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
I am not sure if it is true or not...but, Brenda has heard of it as well. If I get some time, I will research it.
good luck Marci on the liquid diet :)
Leighann...yes, let us know!!!!
well you just never know what is a hoax and what isn't... but this girl is not going to be drinking in hot water from a car... or cold water that used to be in a hot car!!!
Thanks so much for that info!
Marci
LOL...it is a hoax. Here is what I found on the American Cancer Society press release page:
These emails are apparently based on a student’s college thesis. In fact, DEHA is not inherent in the plastic used to make these bottles, and even if it was the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says DEHA "cannot reasonably be anticipated to cause cancer, teratogenic effects, immunotoxicity, neurotoxicity, gene mutations, liver, kidney, reproductive, or developmental toxicity or other serious or irreversible chronic health effects." Meanwhile, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), says diethylhexyl adipate "is not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans."
well you are so handy with the computer!!! LOL
thanks again....
Marci
Marci,
What "liquids" can you drink?
Marci
Wow...it sounds beautiful!!! How is she feeling? And Gabby with her meds?
she's feeling really good.. just really ready.. you know how that last month is... :)
Gabby is doing great with her meds... it's only been a few days, but so far so good...
are you getting everything ready and packed??? or will you wait a while longer?
Marci
We have our check list and have started going thru things...most of our stuff is already in storage. Tori is going to fly out and help us drive back...she was driving us nuts about it. I guess her and a couple of her soccer buddies are coming out - they are only staying for 1 week.
She was telling me how she has been working out and all, since November she has lost 17 pounds...I am very proud of her!
Wow!
Go Tori, I am proud of you too. that is incredible.
:)
That is also way sweet they will help ya'll with the driving and moving... any help is great!
Marci
brenda, i would TOTALLY go to callahan's, but i'm not sure if there's a bus that goes out there; and how late they run, if there is one; i would so love to see dana though; i didn't know she worked there
Well, I am just catching up on the blog entries, and have responded to a couple but deleted them!
Steph,
I will be thinking of you and your mom and brother tonight and hopefully something can be done to help your mom. Where do they live?
Hopefully he can get pass things and ya'll can help each other andd your mom.
:)
Marci
Stephanie,
What are you going to do? I hope you get enough peace to rest tonight...
Leigh Ann,
I am glad your mom is getting settled in... keep us updated.
Marci
I'm going to research on how to strengthen my ankle...at one time I did wear a support but it didn't help, but then again...I don't think I was strengthening the ankle at the same time as I wore it...I think both together is what I need to do :) that's going to be the plan..thanks for the ideas for me
Marci,
Thanks for your prayers with my mom, I really appreciate it:)
Brenda,
Ouch...yes, you need to find some PT exercises that will help both ankles.
Steph,
We are all hear to listen, no worries there, and you can only do what you can. Some felt I should have flown down to see my mom...hell, I can barely get her to talk to me and I can't flunk out of school. So, try not to be pressured and do not beat yourself up!
Kathi,
Hopefully we can all get together for your b-day, when is it?
Kathi, let us know when your B'day is....
Marci
Leighann and Steph that saying right above the comment box reminds me of both of you :) I like it!
Can't wait to see the baby pics Marci with the cute crocheted items Leighann made for her....darnit, she's been back to back with baby items...I'll never get my PONCHO or WRAP LOL!! (just kidding Leighann)
I agree Brenda that is a great quote.....
I'm hoping she is secretly working on your poncho!!!
ha
I am off on Good Friday!!!
YEAH.... a 3 day weekend... finally
Marci
good for you Marci...I'm sure you'll soak up every hour of that 3-day weekend :D I think our next 3 dayer is Memorial weekend!
Steph,
No worries and your right - everyone has choices.
Marci,
Glad she liked them...and I can't wait to see a pic!
Brenda,
Thanks for the vote of confidence!
LOL
Boy, that was some venting.
Marci
LOL...Leighann :) how about a hat instead :D
Marci,
Good for you...it is hard doing what you think is right, especially when you come up against opposition. But your gut and your heart are leading you, so you have to stand strong to your own covictions and basically to hell with everyone else! It isn't easy, so my hat is off to you and Mike and KK - lots of love to you all.
Brenda,
What color whould you like...cause I am off to shop for the Easter Bunny at Walmart...LOL...and I can pick up some yarn.
OMG Brenda.... maybe a poncho!!! LOL
Leigh Ann you are so talented.
Brenda, did you get a wrap for your ankles?
Marci
Steph, any news on your mom????
let us know if we can help any way besides prayer....
Leigh Ann, thanks so much you know how much you mean to me...
Brenda, you are a true friend... :) you are wonderful..
Kathi, save that money girl!!!!
Marci
Yes, Steph...keep us updated. I am thinking of you. I see you guys had great weather today, I hope you got a chance to enjoy it:)
hi; my birthday is april 12 (saturday); going out sounds fun; but usually i go out to eat with my parents/family on the day; can we do it either friday or sunday?
are you guys keeping up on crystal's blog? she's in malawi and has the court hearing in about an hour and a half "our" time (malawi's nine hours ahead of ca)
doctor on monday went well; i have REALLY tight achilles tendons, so i have to wear night splints to stretch them out; also have to go to pt; and wear orthodics
i'm saving that money, marci; still got it all in my savings
Good deal Kathi!
I'm going to check out Crystal's blog... so exciting.
Marci
Very sad.
Thanks for listening to my yacking...
That's got to be hard Steph.
Yack anytime... we all listen....
I am lucky that I have a wonderful relationship with my mom.... :) and hopefully have the same type of relationship with my children when they are older.
How many siblings do you have Steph?
Marci
If you are able to let me know available dates and we can go from there! Marci...Steph...you guys can take the red eye west...we'll pick you up at the airport :D
OH Brenda, I would love too... wish I could fly on out to meet ya'll!
the wind is bad here too... wonder what's up with that all over...
your lips were probably like sandpaper! lol
Kathi, how long do you have to wear the splints?
and Brenda yes,I have been alot in my life ... and I still manage to trudge on!!! I could probably write a Novel!
Marci
Steph,
Sorry to hear about the wind...I was just referencing the temp. I hope your mom gets the medical attention she needs.
Kathi,
Hope those splints help the pain in your legs.
Marci,
Yes, you are inspirational...just don't mention me in your book;)
Brenda,
We will have to plan an outing around ya'll trip to Vegas.
You are too funny Leigh Ann..... believe me, no one wants to read about my life story!!! LOL
I am not sure I want to relive everything I have been thru!!!!!
Marci
ROF...yea, me neither. Some of it is best left unsaid.
alot is better left unsaid....
LOL
Marci
how bout a screenplay...it could become a life time movie or even on stage at a theater :) LOL
I could describe with a few movie titles.... but I will be nice... :)
LOL
Marci
Leigh Ann, what title would you give it?????
Uhm...lets see...that requires some thought!
can't wait to see what you come up with! LOL
Marci
Yes, I can relate...to funny about the siblings...what were they thinking? I hope my kids don't say the same thing:)
I can see little Steph in the mud, head above the water, sunburned shoulders...all the family stuff does bring back the memories, doesn't it?
Yes, I don't see how they managed to feed us all. I gripe all the time about the weekly grocery bill, with just 4 of us, 1 in diapers. When did I become such a coupon-hoarding tightwad? White sale, my ass...wait till the store goes out of business!! c:)
LMAS...no doubt! Paul always tells me that I don't save enough using coupons! Diapers are so expensive.
too funny; i can sort of relate too with the sibs; i'm the youngest of four;
not sure how long i have to wear the splints; at least until i see the doc again in two months, i'm guessing; right now though, there is no surgery in my future; he says that'll just make it worse; and i don't want that; leigh ann, i'm not sure if it's helping the pain right now...i can certainly feel the tendons stretch; won't know if it's actually helping the pain until i walk or stand for a long period of time
Hope Tina is enjoying her week off from work ( I think she said she had a week off)
I always had 2 in diapers at the same time.. talk about yikes on that!
we have been stacking up on them while she is pregnant... hopefully we won't have to buy for a while.. :)
That's a lot of siblings like me... there are 7 of us, all the same Mom and Dad, what where they thinking huh???
I have a rough enough time with 4.. and another one coming.. my grocery bill is already huge!
Marci
we always left early in the morning with a net and bucket for crawfish.... and my mom used to yell, don't forget to grab your knives!!! LOL, 7 years old, don't forget my knife?? (for sugarcane)
barefooted and never sick..
Marci
I haven't thought of sugarcane in years...that is too funny about the knife...it's a wonder we survived! What fun.
Tina
Enjoy the bathroom project...I can't wait to start some of my own.
good luck on the project!
I've always got some project going on.. it's never ending... LOL
I used to hate that feeling of fish nibbling on my legs... yuck......
Marci
And to think...I used to jump off the bridge into the Tangipahoa River! I would faint if I saw one of my children to do that!
sounds like fun...although i would never jump off a bridge; i used to be scared to walk under overpasses; still kind of freaks me out a bit; amd i'm TERRIFIED of tunnels...
OH Leigh Ann....
of course I was probably 19 by the time I did that... but we did that every weekend... and floating down the river!!! of course with an icechest tied to our ankle with beer!!! LOL
Marci
LMAO, marci;
HEY EVERYONE, GO ON CRYSTAL'S BLOG; SHE'S GOT PICTURES UP!!!
Marci that's a good idea of you stocking up over time on those diapers :)
I need to get over to Crystal's blog this AM and see her baby updates!!
yes, Louisiana girls are nuts!!!
Leigh Ann, thank goodness we didn't meet until we were 19 years old... but I don't think anyone could have handled us together before that!!! LOL
So much alike in so many ways.... LMAO
Marci
LOL...too funny Brenda and Stephanie and too close to home! And Marci you are probably right!
ya'll need to go on crystal's blog again...
omg; you're right, steph; we could stay out all day...have the romp of the neighborhood...we'd just have to come back in when the street lights came on; my older sibs and another family who we grew up with used to play "pull the rope"...what the hell is pull the rope, you might ask? let's just say it involved a very long piece of twine, a very busy street we lived off of and usually one of MY baby dolls;
LOL - pull the robe! Poor baby doll...lol!
Went to her blog, Kathi, and it's official. Crystal has adopted Savannah Hope!
I am peeing in my pants... yes we too had to drink out the hose pipe, and you are right about letting it run first b/c it was so hot!!!!
Kathi that poor baby doll... tormented!! LOL
Congrats to crystal, I will go again and check it out...
Marci
Funny how we had such similar experiences in childhood, and we all managed to find each other (via Leigh Ann!). It's good to find common threads.
It is nice...our childhoods crack me up:)
It's true though... I guess all 100% Southern girls.... :)
Marci
Congrats to Crytal!!!
Kathi ...the poor doll! OMG!
it's cute you southern girls :)
I was born in Minnesota but we left when I was 3...most of the relatives are there and we do go to visit....but my dad was military..so off we went :)
Marci
Wow, 30 years...I am going to exit at 25. Brenda, didn't Steve have 24? And Tina, how many did Fred finish with?
Yes, and he didn't marry my mom until he was 42 and my mom was 26... and he had 7 kids.... he was 53 when my brother was born... crazy huh.... 7 kids in 11 years...
I tried to get Samantha to join.... she thought I was nuts!!! LOL
Marci
Marci..is your dad still alive and well?
Brenda,
My dad died almost 7 years ago,he was 83, on Father's day, Gabrielle was 6 weeks old, she is the youngest granchild (21 altogether) so he was able to meet all of his grandchildren.
Marci
That's very sweet Marci about your dad and all the grandkids and Gabrielle remembering those stories :D sorry he's gone :(
my Navy time was so very brief!! LOL...I would have stayed but they wanted to send me to Japan for 3 years without my husband and 2 kids...nope...didn't re-up...Leighann..thank God you'll be so close to see yours!!!!!!!!! YES!
Yes, I am fortunate...as long as I don't get deployed...I think I would be terrified in my old age!
Leigh Ann, John says tell you he can't wait to come to P-Cola and check it out. Maybe it's me, but man, that drive bites! It's cool when you're 18 and on a road trip to spring break, otherwise it's just work! You will need some stowaways to keep you company.
Lots of military folks here, no doubt..I have:
Maternal Grandfather: Navy
Paternal Grandfather: Navy
Dad: Army
Uncle: Marine Corps
Two brothers: Navy
Husband: Navy, briefly
And that girl I look up to, (Leigh Ann) - Navy
I love my Navy people.
is there a possibility of you being deployed??? OMG!! guess anything is possible in the navy;
marci, i've heard of that; where children "speak to" or "see" deceased members of the family; saw it on montel one time when he had sylvia browne (a medium) on; she called the deceased family members their "spirit guides" i'm a total believer in that stuff...
and it wasn't just my baby doll that was sacrificed when they played pull the rope; what you do is stretch the twine across a busy street just as cars go by...and watch the twine get tangled in the car (if you weren't smart and let go of the twine at the point of "impact", you'd get taken down the street with it); would be hysterical if a guy went by on a motorcycle (very dangerous, too, obviously); yes, my siblings were AWFUL; another time they tricked a neighbor into thinking he was eating chocolate when he was really eating ex-lax (you can imagine what the result of that was)
oh Kathi that is funny... exlax...
LOL
yes, she totally talked to my dad... she was only 6 weeks old when he died.. and she could tell you everything he did as a teenager and as an adult... yes, I totaly believe now in that shit... it's scary though... seeing some of the things she woudl say...
Marci
Steph,
The only part I hate about the drive is the two laners...and it will be fun for you guys to come and visit! Never knew there were so many Vets in your family - wow. And thank you!
Kathi,
As far as being deployed...yes, I have been told two different things: it won't happen because of my specialty and get ready to leave after 6 months on board. So, we will see.
Marci,
Too weird...does she ever talk about it now? How is she doing?
Steph, not much military
Maternal Grandfather: army
Dad: Navy
and of course Mike's Dad: army...
but that's about it.....
of hello: sister in law: Navy.. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love ya girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
marci
I meant weird in a good way...skipped school tonight...fixin to dye eggs!
Marci
that's why I totally believe in seeing people after death now... b/c of this.... there is no way she would know things about my dad... she was 6 weeks old when he died and she talked about things when he was a teenager and when he married my mom.... scary....
marci
That is incredible...I would have passed out if I was your mom! What a gift.
lot's of WOW things to read here tonight :) Just got back from spending the evening with my parent's...did dinner at Boll Weeval (I had the smallest burger EVER LOL) and a few fries..Mmmmm miss those !!!
Happy Friday...I see Steph & Kathi have been up a while, morning girls!
That is a trip, Brenda - who knew?
BTY...love your stick person under my therapy post...I just cracked up while I was drinking my coffee!
I am down two pounds, which is stange because I am due to fall off the roof right around the Easter Bunnies visit...
Oh, I would definitely listen about the meningococcal vaccine. They have had a few cases in Rutherford County schools.
Oh, and thanks for loving me, in spite of my math palsy. I got a B in college algebra, then did a nosedive in trig (cringe!!)
Turns out, I wasn't meant to be a doctor. (sniff, sniff!!!) I was apparently meant to keep their charts. :) A lowly, but respectable job!!!
Lowly my butt...I know how much $ you make:) I like the stimulus tax check that will be coming out in May, too.
Legoland sounds like big fun. Wish we were there!
I didnt mean to call you legoland Leigh Ann. That was a typo!
Got it...yes, I am off to pick her up from Gabbies and head to the doctor...I will let you guys know how it goes!
Leighann...Congrats on the down 2 pounds!!! :) Put me down for 1/2pound down!! I weighed in this AM too
Thanks and congrats to you, too!
I need moo juice (or if someone's out and about and stops for me, I have to have the lactose free milk)
thank you.
is she taller than tori now?
Oh yea - 2 inches!
I have a two o'clock hair appt...Rayna and I are heading out the door now. I will call you when I am done and see what you need.
that was me who deleted; i just talked you on the phone and told you everything i said in here
thanks again leigh ann for the moo juice and cigs; i'll give the cash and more money when i go to the bank, hopefully this weekend.
Your welcome, Kathi!
did you guys see crystal's blog today? she actually gives a report this time...i can't tell you how happy i am for her and shane; too bad shane is so sick though...hopefully he'll be better by the time they get home
Yes, I just left there...it is so neat! ALMOST makes me want one:) And then I really think about: braces, puberty, driving, college...yeah, I am over it!
OMG; what does paul think about you thinking that?
Im finally here.. such a long day...
Mike has been a "bad" bear.. such a butt... LOL
go to the camp.. just go.. get you some boy time.... go go go.... we will be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!
so much going on with everyone...
How was Rayna's first shot????
Marci
Glad to hear you're good now Kathi :) and I must head over to Crystal's blog!!!!!!! yes, Kathi..the Mayflower LOL...your family is from NY ...very cool! OMG I can't believe how tall Rayna is LOL...that's so Rayna to call her sister :) love it!!!
Congrats to Mackenzie for her award....she looked so beautiful and very focused in the video!!!
clap clap clap!!
and also...loved the granny story LMAO
I couldn't hear the video because of the music that's on your blog, leigh ann :(
no, brenda, we're not from ny; when my ancestors came over from europe, they came to the us through ellis island (i think, anyway)
Kathi,
Paul has told me that when I retire, if I want to, I could be a foster parent and that is all I want, if that. Kids only get more expensive as they get older - it was just a joke! And, I finally got Britneys song off of my blog, so now you can hear Mackenzie's award.
Marci,
Funny about Mike...and Rayna's shots went well, she got the Meneginitis (sp), too.
How do you spell that, Stephanie? And, thanks for the info on the feet vs. " - it's gets complicated even when I am writing my papars. So, I will be using it!
Brenda,
That granny story cracks me up, too!
Well, I am off to the gym:)
it's spelled m e n i n g i t i s; i'm glad that she got it; not, it wasn't britney's song that was on there, it's jordan sparks; and it was still on there when i came over here....hmmm; let me go see; hang on
