I'm working late on and off for the next 2 weeks to make up for the time I'm taking off for Barry Manilow...I took a nice nap at lunch to help me out...this isn't a good time to be sick!!! I can't go home...I need my time on the books for when the Bartons come in July and then Minnesota in Sept.

Who can afford to go to Disneyland anymore...it's so frickin expensive now; lucky you get a military discount, Leigh Ann; are they still doing the thing where the military get in for free? or was the only around 9/11?
Hey kathi...I don't believe they are doing any freebies now :( unless you listen to the county radio stations...I had a co worker who ALWAYS won various tickets...and probably still wins...I think it's KSON, especially during the day...not many people call in, I guess
No, not free. But, they are cheaper on base and right now they have the special going on for CA residents. Two for one...both parks for the price of one, whatever that is. I paid like 68.00a piece which breaks down to only 30 something a day. But, with food and hotels, yea, it gets up there.

I woke up this morning with my "monthly visitor" and no big deal, with all the running I do, it has been next to nothing for the past several months, but I had a terrible thought. I have exactly 1 month until the race, and guess what...I will probably be on my period. What luck! It usually corresponds with all important events in my life, so why should this one be different? Joy, joy, joy....have a great day, everyone!

Marci..My yard needs alot of maintenance too but I keep PLAYING with these little creations that I do and have no room for LOL...I worked on a succulent (jade) forest put onto a piece of broken concrete slab...still needs nore work but it is so sweet :) Good for you Marci to be down a pound and working hard for it!!!!!
I'm going to bike 10 miles today and tomorrow and go to the gym Fri after working late Fri UGH But Friday is Leighann and Tina's championship game!!!!!!!!!! I won't miss that one :)
PS...I really have no idea who's all staying at my house anymore...I know my brother stayed over and I have a feeling he's not leaving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I'm wrong

It's spring break and Allyson has Steph and Brooklyn in town and then their friends and then there's Dana and what do ya know...there's John...and then MY BROTHER!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!! I told him he could have the guest room but I saw a suitcase in there LOL...jigsaw puzzle...LOL...I do remember..but this time..I'll pull weeds on the hill :) I don't want to post pics until I pull weeds ...trim and get control of it all...Leighann...you make me feel good with the nice things you say....but if you see some of these places I go to see....mine is nothing LOL...you can go to see Phil and Janets on April 26 if you want..they are having a garden tour go through for a fundraiser for a women in universities...I'm a greeter that day!!!

OH LEIGH ANN!!!!!!! That's half the fun of graduating; you should totally walk; it is so not the same if they mail you your degree...but, on the other hand; there are gonna be about 10,000 other people graduating and parking SUCKS on grad day...and it's probably gonna be so incredibly HOT; i remember SDSU grad day, as one of my brothers and sister graduated on the same day; and my oldest brother two years before that...so i remember all too well

Kathi, KK's due date is April 16th... they have moved it all over the month of April...

I got my "walking splints" today...although they're more like removable casts; they're called "equalizer boots"; they're a pain in the ass to walk in, but i got them both on now to practice

Yeah Marci, I'm very ready; and if I'm good, I'll have close to $1000 to have with me when we go; but that's including what I still owe on the hotel, car (gas too), food and maybe gambling. I hope to have that stimulus check before we go too, so maybe over a grand.

Hey Marci...I read the blog site and it just seems like a very expensive and long haul to mail pkgs there...they do have an address listed down towards the end of postings of the church that sponsers them...monies can be sent there....that's probably what I will do and they say no amount is too little...as I can I'll send :D My dad sponsers little ones in Africa and on an Indian Reservation in Montana...I think he even went through Montana a couple years ago to meet/greet :)

Outstanding on the lytes, Kathi. I hope the cholesterol panel comes back good, too. I remember the first time I had my cholesterol checked. I was 19, and had it done when I worked in the lab on a rotation for 6 weeks at a hospital. I have always worked out, but wasn't really watching what I ate, and it was 211! I couldn't believe it, and neither could the tech! The 50-year-old receptionist in the department had a lower level than I! At that point, I went vegetarian and got it down to 179 in 3 months. Yep, that's when I said bye-bye to fried stuff. That stuff will kill ya!!!
Incidentally, that was also when I found out I am Rh-negative, and I did a PFT and found out about my decreased lung capacity because of my asthma, when they used me as a guinea pig to calibrate a new machine in Respiratory Therapy department! Lab rate and guinea pig...what a service I provided! :)
Meant lab RAT, of course! Gone to run now...I worked extra today and must pay the piper if I expect to do well. April 26th...race day! And I talk a lot...blah, blah! :)
I did a PFT last year sometime and it didn't show that I had asthma, which is weird, cuz I KNOW I have it (had pneumonia twice..that's when they diagnosed me with it); you're lucky that you can be a lab rat...they can never find any veins in me every time they draw blood; so I can't really be a lab rat; I am a guinea pig though; not to mention a pin cushion
Hey all I weighed in already...WOW..since I was sick..I just didn't have the energy to ride my bike or the gym...and I ate lots of carbs...SOOOOOO I gained 3.5 pounds!!!!!!! WOW
All this lab talk...I always tell people no news isn't good news...we have to be our own advocates and get the results ourselves...Like Kaiser Kathi, you can pull them up yourselves now...A friend of mine, her sister found out through Kaiser, herself that she is Stage 3 kidney disease!!! They never called her and apparently after looking back at previous labs...it showed the decline :( I hope it's not to late for her!!

Brenda, that is scary about those labs. You definitely have to watch things and follow up...gosh, the weight gain is okay. You were sick, and you can't deprive yourself when your immune system is fighting. Hang in there and you will get back on track. I love hearing about your bike rides!

The good news is this...my co worker Steve regularly asks us if we want breakfast from McDonalds...I normally get a parfait...this morning I ask for one...when he came back..he forgot my parfait!!! I think it was meant to be :) I'm looking at my apple and oats on my desk LOL
LOL, divine intervention about the parfait! Ces't parfait! Viva la pomme (apple!) I think the apple is on the "perfect food" list. Crunchy and sweet! I have been doing a cup of oats and 3 egg whites for breakfast for the past 3 weeks. It really makes you forget about your tummy for the morning!
Leigh Ann, not that I am not a huge fan of your Cali group, but from the way you said it, I expected to see some pics of you and Paul with George W., or Oprah, or maybe the Spice Girls! Not that Victoria Beckham would frequent an establishment which serves food... :-)
Lipids went up again. I kind of fell off track, but gotta get back on... for LA and Steph... what is High Density Lipoprotein? That's 5.5...what should it be? But my total Cholesterol is 230; Tri's are 177; HDL 42; and LDL 153

high density lipoprotein (HDL) is the "Good" cholesterol. Normal parameters are 38-94 mg/dl for females. LDL, or low-density lipoprotein, is the "bad" cholesterol, and it should be less than 130. I think they like the total cholesterol to be under 200...

Well, I take that back. Yesterday, I could not find a pair of socks in my house, when I was ready to run. I ended up running in a blue footie, and a pink footie. Afterward, I took my shoes off and grabbed a beer, and just looked at my feet and laughed. That's pretty silly, in my book.

I don't think there are two numbers for the HDL. That 5.5 sounds like a potassium level...is that possibly what you are lookin' at?
hang on; let me log into my Kaiser account online and check; no, my potassium level is 4.7.
Hmmm..that is odd. I am not sure what that could be.

Kat, the optimum cholesterol-HDL ratio is 5:1. Since you said your total cholesterol was elevated, it could be 5.5:1, and they are just not expressing that value as a ratio. This is all speculation, of course! :-) I would call your doc and ask, but I would say if you can pin down the other values and the cholesterol-HDL ratio is left, I would say that is it. Hope this helps!
I just emailed my doctor and asked him what it all means...LOL. I didn't know there were ratios to go by...all I knew was the range of normalcy, or standard range. I swear, since those were fasting tests, I was ready to bite some fingers off (my own...LOL) by the time I got done;
You're right, Steph; my doctor's nurse just emailed me back and said that it does have to do with the ratio; I think between the HDL and cholesterol; she said that it should be less than 4.3 (OOPS)
Yeah, normal values vary slightly from lab to lab. My books say anything below 5 is okay. Your lab apparently runs a tight ship!
Well, I got the sweetest birthday card today... thanks to my "sister"... I love ya Leigh Ann..... you mean the world to me... it's so hard to go thru divorce when you are so close to family members, and I am so Blessed to have wonderful "ex" inlaws that I am closer to then my in-laws...

Hey Marci....I too am close to my ex husband's family...they are are very special people :) just because the marriage didn't work out for 2 people doesn't mean we have to lose the family too :D
Had a great day...went with my parent's to the Viejas casino buffet, played some gaming machines...me and mom won our monies back and a few more ;) then walked through some shops...went to my friend's second grand opening of her nursery and then to MARY'S SECRET GARDEN where I bought the coolest rustic tin dog for the garden...he looks like a weiner dog :)
AND to top it off my oldest daughter's vehicle came out of the shop costing DOUBLE what we thought...it was 1600.00 OMG
hoping tomorrow is a sunny day...a friend is taking me to the zoo in the AM to walk and then lunch :)
I really needed this relaxing weekend :)
