Second Check In Tomorrow...Weight and Miles

I didn't do well at all...I actually gained a couple of ounces! The weekend is what gets me - the drinks and the eating out! I am very bummed - this just sucks:( I have updated my ticker - hoping you guys have better news to report. I am going to the gym now! I WILL NOT BE OVERWEIGHT!!!

Ok... I will go first since I changed my scale and have to start over... :o(

147 lbs. However... my waist measurement is down by 1/2" so I am pleased by that. What did I learn this week? Well, 1 - dont buy a new scale. (hehe) 2 - dont pig out the night before weigh in! Oh... hubby says if muscles are sore body retains more water to help them repair... so... Im am sure i am retaining about 5 lbs of water! hahahahaha.

Tina, what a sweet hubby to say that, and I have heard that too! It is always nice to have your support team on hand!

Personally, I am suffering from the opposite. I can never drink during exercise;; makes me nauseous. I just ran and my tongue is sticking to the roof of my mouth...bleck!!

I surpassed my goal this week and ran 23.5 miles. Got a pedicure and 2 new lipsticks to celebrate.

Please let me know how many you lost, or in my case, gained...and I can change your ticker. Because, not everyone gave me their starting weight...I know a pain.

the next week in, I have to burn more calories I take in :) nuff said LOL

and just in general, I want the variety in my cardio...walking,biking,and the tread-climber

I also want to commit to the phrase: no pain..no gain LOL...I say that because if I'm not REALLY sore, then I'm not doing enough floor/free weights

congrats to Steph for exceeding your expectations in your running :D That is amazing that you can't drink water during the run...I don't think I have ever heard of that before..but then again, I do recall seeing people running and not carrying water bottles...WOW...hope your kidneys are ok...do your perspire alot when you run??

Steph - Hubby is a runner too! Does 35 to 40 miles a week and so I take what he says very seriously as he is quite fit.

Leigh Ann - If you go from last week... I gained 2 lbs. I am back to my start weight. :-( Like i said... it just has to be the new scale and the water weight... LOL!

Ok....drum roll please; just went for my walk (a mile again) and THEN weighed myself; 2.4 lbs. lost in two weeks (since my doctor's appt. on the 2nd Leigh Ann); that is a total from what I thought I weighed before the doc of, I think, 22.4 lbs. I'll email you what I weighed just now... pretty damn proud of myself, if you ask me

Brenda, I don't know why, but I can't do it with the water during exercise. I have always been that way. Yes, I sweat a lot when I run (think soaked, throw your clothes away sweat) and I drink a lot of water all day long, and input versus output is okay (drinking versus tinkling!) so I think I am replenishing well enough after the run. And I never run longer than about 45 minutes at a time. I guess I am just a weirdo. I am probably selling myself short on the running because of this.

i know; but i was CRAVING IT soooooooooooo bad; but i only limited myself to two slices and two cheesy bread thingies...and then two slices this morning before my walk, so i'm sure i walked it off i'm having a friend over today, so i'll give the rest to her. I'll probably have soup later today if I get hungry. drinking plenty of water too...

I understand on the slips...I'm one of them...had 1/2 pastry 3x last week and I just had a quessadilla , 1/2 of one that my husband bought last night for himself to eat during the game...Hmmm...the game is on and he isn't here...so it's MINE

Leighann, are you doing true Atkins that includes high fat stuff like the pepperonis, cheese meat etc....if you are then you can't cheat on the true atkins...the way it works is when you are following the plan to a T your body goes into ketosis...that's the fat burning phase...but if you cheat...that takes you out of the ketosis phase ...where you aren't going to burn..remember the urine sticks...pepople become addicts to the ketosis phase because they now they are burning mode

you can modify the Atkins if you know you're going to be cheating..the change being..what your protein will be...

I'm only commenting on this...because I did Atkins for a long time and was pretty passionate about it :) but I have hereditary cholesteral/BP problems and that came on while on Atkins
:( otherwise...I love Atkins!!!!

Congratulations kathi!! and Steph!! Go Brenda!! and nice 1/2 inc off the waist..wish I had thought to measure I mihgt do that this week.

Leigh Ann do not get discouraged you are doing wonderful maybe you lost fat but gained muscle!! Muscle weighs heavier than fat!! The imporant thing is you are working toward your goal!!! This whole blog and all of us getting to come together for the headband club was your idea!! and look how motivated we all are to encourage one another, that is a great success in and of itself. Next week will be better..off the y!! Wish you were here we could sweat togehter (and I have not heard anything on the pool yet) :(
Please wish Mackenzie a happy birthday, I still remember this day so well when she came out upside down with her squishy face and Rayna's nose!!! give her a big kiss for me!!

Thanks for your insight. I guess I am not doing a true Atkins, only because of the beer, though. I am not going to change my entire life and be miserable...I am pretty confident that I will reach my goal - only time will tell.

Tina,

Fred is right. Your muscles will hang onto the water to repair the tiny little tears they get when working out and building muscles. If you are really exercise a lot you actually need to drink even MORE water. 10-12 glasses a day - first to repair muscles on top of the regular 6-8. Otherwise you retain. (I will look and see if I still have the article on all the physiology about that.)

I should weigh myself again, after the girl's game. I think I probably wound up sweating off another couple in the sun!

Also, two other websites I use. Lots of time before I head to a restaurant I will check the posted menu/nutrition info so I order something that won't wipe my eating. They are:

(has a lot of restaurant info on their rest. tab)

This way you can have what you want by just planning for it. Did you know if you get your Margarita on the rocks you save 1/2 the calories (basically because of the ice). I just don't feel like I'm being deprived of anything when I do modifications like that. I do that with my 'Bucks lattes all the time (in addition to making them Skinny).

Oh my margaritas are ALWAYS on the rocks... and my latte's are now nonfat milk, 2 splenda, no foam. Not nearly as tasty as the Quad Cinnamon Dulce latte with whipcream... but it will do!

Ok... I had to do it... I stripped down and got on the scale. 146 lbs. So it was only a POUND I sweat off... :o)

lol tina; i'm feeling a bit crabby right now......my leg that had the blood clot in it has been hurting for about a week now; was thinking it was the walking (which is EXACTLY what the doctor told me to do in the first place), but the area that's hurting is where they put the stent in almost a year ago...I'M NOT HAPPY!!! I need to call the vascular doc again to find out what the HELL is going on; i need prayers sent my way, please. thanks ladies.

I left my comments on the wrong section...
I have been in therapy with Leigh Anne all day, thanks girl.
I have a pg teenager that is completely stressed out, and I have eaten all her cravings and then some... and drank Coors Lite on top of that....
I have not gained or lost anything, so just my one little lonely lb for 2 weeks....
a better day tomorrow.... we find out the sex of the baby!
