Happy Monday to all. I am heading to the gym with my new and improved and much more aggressive work out! Thank you all for being apart of this painful process:)
Hello Ladies. Didn't have a chance to check in last night until after 8p. I just didn't want to get on the computer. Well Leigh Ann, my little ticker needs to go backwards. I was up 1.2lbs. I was pretty bummed since I had cranked the exercise but when I look back I said I didn't believe the 2lbs for half a week (my first check in). This makes more sense - about 1/2 lb for my first 10days. To me, that's respectable (I lose in tenths and gain in pounds).
But really important to me is that I kicked butt on the exercise and logged over 3.5 hours and nearly 2000 calories! I'm going to set a goal this week to make or beat 2000 cal and try for 4 hours.
Now with another crazy weekend again, I have to do better with the water. I just HATE drinking all that water when I'm at a field with only port-a-potties and no tp!
LOL Angela! Hey, I discovered the BEST thing before my last trip to India. (where TP is a luxury in many places) I now almost always have the little carry pack of seat covers and charmin TP in my soccer bag. The are a MUST HAVE for fields with portapotties!!!
Happy Monday everyone! I am going to do my walk in the rain even if it KILLS me! :o)
Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... Don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! .... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember: 'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO! What a Ride'
AND......
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
This is an excerpt from an article I found, posted by Patrick L. Bird, Ph.D., for the University of Florida. I thought it was something for us to think about, as we reduce our calories while simultaneously increasing our activity and water intake.
Q. I am a runner and would like to know whether it is possible to drink too much water?
A: Yes, there is a condition known as “water intoxication”. It is usually associated with long distance events like running and cycling. And it is not an unusual problem. What happens is that as the athlete consumes large amounts of water over the course of an event, blood plasma (the liquid part of blood) increases. As this takes place, the salt content of the blood is diluted. At the same time, the athlete is losing salt by sweating. Consequently, the amount of salt available to the body tissues decreases over time to a point where the loss interferes with brain, heart and muscle function.
The official name for this condition is hyponatremia. The symptoms generally mirror those of dehydration (apathy, confusion, nausea and fatigue), although some individuals show no symptoms at all. If untreated, hyponatremia can lead to coma and even death.
Enough, but not too much: The fluid requirement for the majority of endurance athletes, under most conditions, is about 8-16 ounces per hour during activity. There is considerable variation here, of course, due to individual sweating rates, body size and weight, heat and humidity, running speed and other factors. Still, much more than this amount of fluids is in most instances, probably physiologically excessive as well as uncomfortable, as liquid sloshes around in the gut during activity.
Someone will always be prettier. Someone will always be smarter. Some of their houses will be bigger. Some will drive a better car. Their children will do better in school. And their husband will fix more things around the house. So let it go, and love you and your circumstances. Think about it! The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart. And the most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children. And the richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the clothes, might be lonely. And the word says, 'If I have not Love, I am nothing.' So, again, love you. Love who you are. Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say, 'I am too Blessed to be Stressed and too Anointed, to be Disappointed!' 'Winners make things happen - Losers let things happen.' Be 'Blessed' Ladies!
That was great!! Thanks to all of you for getting those guotes and poems up....BTW, I will be watching that Barbie...I was believing the meat good for you due to the grains etc...LOL

Have a great day back to school for you~don't forget....if school takes too much that you can't update this blog ...lemme know, and I can help out...or I'm sure any other of the local women here :)
OMG!!! MUST SHARE ALERT>>MUST SHARE ALERT!!!!!!!!! my sis heard this from her friend ..she has 2 girls 10 year old and a senior in HS...the senior said to mom..you don't treat us the same..never have and it's not fair...(we can picture this, can't we..LOL)...MOM took alittle time...then responsed..ya know you're right...SO, here's how it is...I very well can't treat your sister like a senior in HS..so, from now on, I treat you like a 10 year old.
Hello Ladies, My mp3 player died for good yesterday while jogging/walking. It was an RCA and 2yrs old (ancient in technology lifetime) from Walmart, so I definitely got my $25 worth. Last night hubby to me to Target and I used some left over gift cards towards a 3rd gen iPod Nano and an armband. Now I just have to load it. Ick. The kids have the iPods, so the existing library is there stuff. Wonder how long it's going to take? I want to use it tomorrow but don't want to spend all the time on the computer tonight. Oh well.
Oh, I almost forgot. This morning I signed up for a 5k Super Run. I chickened out yesterday and Byron convinced me to just go for it. So I did it! OMG!!!
Also, I liked the 'water intoxication' post. I've read that before and wanted to add the good rule of thumb. I like it because the tendency for most people is to walk around in a state of dehydration. I know if I'm looking at port-a-potties, I'm probably walking around like that!
A good goal to aim for is one eight-ounce glass of water for every 10-12.5 lbs of body weight continuouslyy sipping rather than gulping every once one in a while is a good course. The rule of thumb to a well-hydrated state (since everyone is different in sweat production & other factors) is the color of your urine. Morning urine may have some color to it but the rest of the time it should appear relatively clear in color. Dark urine tells you that your water intake needs to be increased.
Sort of gross, I know but a way to stay in touch with what's going on with our bodies. There is tons of research on this. You will mostly find it in the muscle building studies and body building topics.
Same info including water intoxication info can be seen here: http://www.gain-weight-muscle-fast.com/drink-water.html
Wow, Angela, thanks for the information. I hope it doesn't take forever to load that dern thing. And the Super Run - great job, I would be scared. Where and when is it? Just finished my work out. Did 40 minutes of cardio - 33 minutes on the elliptic (sp) burning 270 calories and 7 minutes on the bike to hit my 300 calories - finished at 310 calories/cardio. Today was legs and core/abs. And stretched at the end.
Have fun with the nano Angela...LUCKY LADY! What is a superrun 5k...is there something different for them to call it a superrun, I'm with Leighann..SCARY
enjoyed the h2o info..I tend to be a gulper...at work and exercising..very bad at drinking worker outside those scenerios..but I could use a healthy obession right now..thanks
Leighann...that's some cardio you did!! darnit.. alot of time to get that done..well, we do what we gotta do...clap clap clap
Thanks, Brenda! I don't think it's helping me lose weight, though. I added another site, "Pilates" - I like it better than the other one labeled, "Pilates Information" - Anyway, looking to add a few of these exercises to my regimen.
OK I AM FINALLY BACK ON THE SITE.... WHEW, TOO MUCH TO DO AT WORK. LADIES, YA'LL HAVE BEEN SO BUSY... EVERYONE IS DOING SO WELL.....
I HAVE TO TRY AND REGROUP AND BETTER PREPARE MY LUNCHES... I HAVE A DIET PLAN I WILL START TOMORROW THAT MY OFFICE USED LAST YEAR AND IT REALLY WORKS WELL.. I FOUND IT OVER THE WEEKEND CLEANING... I'LL EMAIL IT TO LEIGH ANN SO SHE CAN POST IT... IT'S SIMPLE AND FILLING AND IT WORKS..... :) THAT'S WHAT WE ALL NEED....
It's called the Reduction Plan! Daily: 64 oz water
Breakfast 2 tbspns lemon juice in warm water (may put sugar substitute)
1- med apple
Lunch Large salad (very large) may add 2 oz of chicken, turkey or tuna ** 2 tbspns of low fat dressing 6 melba toasts or saltines
snack(2-3 times daily)
fresh fruit or vegetable
Dinner
4 oz lean meat or seafood small salad 1/2 cup cooked veggie 1/4 cup brown rice 2 slices of wheat bread
desserts: any sugar free gelatin
Daily: 2 diet soft drinks max or unsweetened iced tea 64 oz water 6 1/2 oz protein 3 servings of fruits unlimited veggies raw
starches (4 servings)

it really does work when you stick to it. last year my whole office did this diet and after 5 weeks I had lost 17 lbs.... just like anything, you have to commit and stick to it....
Leigh Ann, thanks for posting "Mylee" she is my precious angel.....
Oh Marci...that looks incredably yummy :) I think I may through that plan into my calendar too...
I did a great workout at the gym but only 10 mins cardio there and then walked around the neighborhood for 20 mins...and I did walk at work for 20 mins too.. I'm now feeling very sore in the thighs..so those lunges are being done right..now I must do them often :D (PS did something I wasn't proud of...but I made it right in the end...I only did 10mins cardio at the gym because this guy got on the machine next to me....the gym is empty...then I cut mine short and got off...I felt bad later and went to him and said lets do the cardio together because we both need the encouragement...he has alot of weight to lose and all he wanted was someone to help him stay on the machine...well if I help him...it does help me in the end too...he talks nonstop and is retired military , good ole boys club...kinda gross' me out)
Brenda good for you!!! You helped yourself and someone else. He probably has no one else to motivate him, hell, give him the blog!!! LOL he may motivate our asses.... A movie, 10 women and 1 man.... lose the weight!!!! he'd lose it fast with 10 women!!!
do you think the warm water with lemon is supposed to be like a tea????? I mean I know they say lemon water is a huge dieretic... there's that water loss....
Let me know what you think will work... maybe a combo of everyone's ideas....
I don't know...about the lemon - I will google it. Brenda, great workout! Good job being nice...what goes around comes around and no pain no gain - blah, blah, blah:)
From one site: As with all weight loss plans you receive a lot of "tips" from everyone that you talk to. One tip that has come up numerous times is to drink a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon to kick start your metabolism in the morning? Is this fact or Fiction?"
I must admit that I giggled when I read that. There are so many so called secrets out there. That is a very popular one. And it stems from a few areas. One is that the acidic content in the lemon will act as a catalyst to boost your metabolism. The other is the lemon itself mixed with warm water will act as a detox. Therefore purifying your body from impurities such as toxins.
I will say this much in regards as to whether or not if it works or not. It may.... just about anything will work for some people. Would I write a book and recommend that everyone follow the lemon juice diet? Of course not. I do not think it will yield such great results that lemons will be the hottest commodity on the grocery shelves. But I will say that it won't hurt. Try it and see. But please don't put your full trust in the lemon juice diet. Do not get upset or depressed if you find it did not work.
And another: Yes! A lemon detox diet IS effective for both cleansing and weight loss.
Here's the idea:
Consuming anything sour makes the liver and gallbladder purge stored toxins. The liver is especially important for weight loss and overall health. When the liver is filled with toxins, it cannot do its critical tasks in metabolizing fat. So that is why it is essential to keep your liver in top working condition.
In a lemon detox diet, you use the juice of a fresh lemon in a cup of hot water in the morning. The morning is when our bodies are in a natural cleansing phase, so it is a good time to consume cleansing foods and juices.
Then, you also use either fresh lemon juice or a slice of a lemon in water that you drink throughout the day. In the lemon detox diet, water is a key component. You should drink at least 64 ounces a day.
Lemon juice provides an added benefit: it also supplies the body with a good dose of vitamin C.
i have to write down the diet marci put up; sounds great...my body won't know what hit it...i did a little walk today again, like last night. tomorrow i'm going to the doctor, so doing a little more.
Ah, Kathi, never skip your a.m. meal! That really sets me up for failure later in the day if I am starving by lunchtime! great work on the soup for dinner, but next time try the healthy choice line, lower sodium. Also, anything that has "cream of" on the label is not good! :) I also like the Progresso Vegetable Classic ones. You don't have to add water, and they are hardier soups. about 160 calories, 1 gram of fat.
Marci, your reduction plan sounds very similar to what I have used in the past couple of months to lose that last little bit I wanted to lose. Even with running, the weight loss stalled because I was replacing the calories I burned after my workout!
The only thing is, I nixed all of the protein. I have been strictly veggie and a bit of whole wheat each day for the past month, and I tell you, it has worked for me (in addition to really adding on the miles which I run!) I know it's not healthy to have no protein, but I only wanted to do it for a little while to detox and see how low on the calorie consumption wheel I would have to go to continue to lose weight.
With meticulous measuring and recording every bite I ate, I got it down to approximately 1200 calories and 15 grams of fat. Very low, I know, but I did it for only 6 weeks and managed to lose 8 pounds!
Sort of looks like this:
You want to try to have NOTHING after 6 or 7 p, if you can. Late night eating is a killer, and your body needs that time to repair and restore rather than for digesting food.
I begin work at approximately 0200 hours, each day, so I have to have something in my tummy around 3 or 4 a.m. or I am "pukey" This usually is just an apple or banana and a few saltines with my coffee (approx. 20 oz., black)
Then around 0800, I break and work out. Then I have a cucumber sandwich and another piece of fruit, hot green or white tea with lemon and my vitamins. The cucumber sandwich has cucumber slices on low carb wheat bread, with a bit of miracle whip (you can have a whole tablespoon and it is minimal calories!) then sprinkle with salt and pepper. It is actually very good!
Lunch is usually a baked potato with salt, pepper and (don't laugh) ketchup! That's another condiment you can have that's low cal). Also, a small garden salad with spinach instead of iceberg (that stuff is nutritionally void). You can even add a tablespoon of your favorite dressing if you like when you are this low cal, but I told ya, I go dry. Also, more hot tea with lemon.
Dinner is a big salad and a slice of fresh whole wheat French bread, and I sneak in a Diet Coke. If you measure your veggies and keep the salad dressing in check, you can have a huge salad and keep it under 300 calories. Snacks are cucumber slices or celery and carrot sticks. Keep your water bottle on your desk full all day and then you are good.
Steph, I love the Healthy Choice dinners, but they're kind of expensive for me... what I used to do, and I know this is so not good for you, is I bought the Banquet dinners (usually you can get 'em 10for $10); but I've sinced learned that not only are they high in sodium, but also very high in fat. So (except for this week), what I would normally do for meals, is like a can of soup, or pb sandwich, spaghetti...etc. I also make sure I drink a ton of water. I'm also trying not to eat anything past like 8pm. 6 and 7 is way to early for me to stop eating.
Stephanie, Thanks for the information...so that's how you maintain that killer bod:) Marci, I may do it next week and just see what happens. Is anyone else gonna try it? Kathi, Sometimes at Ralphs (that's the name of our grocery store her in San Diego, strange, uh) the healthier meals are sometimes 10 for 10 also. I had one of the soups for dinner the other day and I really enjoyed it. Kept me nice and full on that rainy evening.
thanks Steph...I'm salivating afterlooking at the word lemon..don't even have one in my water LOL... WOW! LOADS of info left on this blog since last night...THANK YOU and I will for sure copy down this stuff...After talking with my husband...I'm going to do basically each week the same meal plan...then the next week switch it to something else..etc...so, Marci, I'm doing yours next week, then Steph, I'm doing yours the following week...and I will go home tonight and continue to slice lemons in my water...that I do love :D Thanks for all the info gals!!
Steph....I love your work hours :) It has been my dream to be able to work at home...I've always just missed the bus on that :( I process medical claims and there are work at homes...but I'm not one of them...I'll never give up though on my dream :D
So, are there three of us doing Marci's plan next week - Me, Marci and Brenda? I am off to the gym - class again today at 1600. Steph, What brand of tea do you use?
Leigh Ann, I use Republic of Tea; their chamomile lemon and Asian Jasmine white are good, and Tazo Calm is great too. Most of them are caffeine-free.
Brenda, working at home has been a great blessing for me. I love that my babies have never gone to daycare. That has always been very important to me. And the hours are flexible too; I chose that early shift to free up the day for important things like going to the zoo, park, etc., you get the idea! Not to mention, NO ONE wants to work that shift, so talk about job security!! :)
I hope there is a way you can eventually get to work at home. I would definitely pursue it if you can!
Oh my Richard Simmons LOL...that was too funny :D BTW....Barbie is eating about of processed foods, but they say non fat, etc....am I missing the whole point ???
Long night for you Leighann..2 classes...hang in there!!!
Hey Steph...I've always been wrong place/wrong time for work at home :( but I will always be on the look out :D Luckily, my work hours for the last approx 10 years have been the 6-2:30pm shift...I was sooo very happy to get those hours due to the job prior had me til 6pm and some really negative things were happening in my family.....you're so lucky!!!!!!!
ok... again... where have I been? I am a complete nutcase at this point...... can't catch up.....
Stephanie.... I have to ask.... why do you want to lose weight? you look gorgeous..... athletic eat right, but I guess that's why you stay that way... do you ever just CHEAT????????? I had to ask from a Fat person!!! LOL Leigh Ann, and whomever else asked... I am going to start this diet fresh Monday Morning, I have to get everything organized over the weekend... and get my husband in gear as well..... we completely inable each other.... pitiful... let me whoop up on him!! LOL
I can't keep up with everyones names and faces, so please don't be offended if I don't address you personally... just give me a heads up.... :)
Thanks, Stephanie - I will have to try those. Brenda, Barbie is NOT eating anything good for her! My two classes are tomorrow night - hence no Survivor:( Marci, I am going to give it a go with you next week! I have to get organized as well. Tina, is everything ok? Is there anything I can do?
Thanks Leighann....Barbie confused me...I think she's playing games with my head!!!!!!! Everyday, she's doing something different!!! LMAO!!!! jk jk...oh yes, today is Weds...
Marci...My husband and I will join you and your menu next week in food spirit :D Then the following week, we are going to join Steph and her menu :D
sounds great! This plan really worked for me last year, It's like, why not stick with something that works??? what's the deal? we know what to do, why can't we stick with it???????
I say blame it on someone else!!!! ha.... it's not me.... LOL
must be those little heathens in my life, hell, they put the lbs on me.... why can't they work it off instead of me.....!!!!!!!!
no walking today; and no doctor; but if i can get my ass up in the morning, will do it tomorrow; i have to go to get my pot (LOL) checked again. and then next week i have an appt with him (doctor) to discuss the potassium and my feet hurting when i walk (i have tight heel cords; don't ask what they are, cuz i'm not even sure); but despite them hurting, i still do it - no pain, no gain.
Marci, you are sweet. Of course I cheat! Ask Leigh Ann! Do beer and chips and salsa at Chili's sound familiar? Okay, I admit, I don't go all out when I sneak something "bad"...I just try to think which I want more, to fit in my jeans or to have a slice of birthday cake? I am really not trying to lose weight any more. I just got to a point after I lost my 28 pounds from my 06 pregnancy where I was thin, but not where I like to be as far as weight...hence the latest push prior to bikini season!! I am 5'8" so 130 is a healthy weight for me, but I like 115-120. That's where my clothes fit best. Here's to vanity, right? :)
And Marci, you are not fat! I think you are beautiful, and I always know I am reading one of your entries because I laugh and smile. You are bright (radiance wise, though I am sure you are an intelligent lady, too!)
Kathi, "no pain, no gain" only goes so far. Tight Achilles tendon (heel cord) is no lauging matter...it hurts!! Careful with that, and are you doing light stretches for them before and after you walk? I would check with your doctor and see if they can recommend proper techniques for stretching, because you can really hurt badly if you do them incorrectly. Hope you're okay!
No, the baby slept through the night, which is actually rare! I work at night; well super-early morning (start around 0200).
I am actually about ready for a nap! I just finished my run and shower, and I think I can try to lie down for a few when the baby goes for her morning nap at 10, then it's back to work!!
Good morning, Leigh Ann! I hope to see Barbie in some sweat pants and a stringy pony tail soon...the way she is eating, she deserves it! (just kidding; I love Barbie and I hope she gets through whatever emotional crisis brought on all of this binge-eating!) :)
I know Brenda, I have moments where I lose control! Leigh Ann, can you send me some pics of those diaper cakes? Hopefully I won't try to eat it afterwards! LOL
Hey, dogs chewing on Barbies is a sad daily reality in my house! My weinie dog, Jolly Roger, hates on all of my daughter's toys! I think I shall have to whip him! He is a stubborn little ox!
LMAS...you guys all crack me up. Steph, Paul says that Roger is HIS dog:) Barbie is going to get it soon, just you wait and see. Marci, I will send those to you this afternoon. You crack me up!
I love weenie dogs!!! that's all we had when I was growing up. We have a Boston Terrier, Cookie Love, and when I tell you she hates ALL Barbies and her accessories, anything... (and the kids named her)
thanks Leigh Ann... I have to find the picture of Torrie, Sam and Cally a the pool.. it's driving me crazy looking for it.
Did ya'll weather improve there? Ours has been cold wet and dreary, makes me feel like shit and doing nothing!
Went jogging/walking with the new iPod yesterday at lunch. When I went to charge it yesterday morning (while getting ready for work)it synced to the kids library. Music was pretty good to exercise for the most part. I did stop dead in my tracks while in my jog portion when some High School Musical song about a tiki or a fish or something came up and I desperately had to figure out how to skip ahead on the darn pod! I got to find time to fix that up and import some of my stuff. Angela
It's a rainy day here too in SD. I'm blogging instead of going out at lunch. I'll try to do something at home tonight -cardio/body shaping aerobics and/or the bike.
I'm begining to sweat about this jogging thing and the fact that I'm signed up for the 5k. (Maybe I'll lose a lb from the sweat!) The tendons around my knees are letting me know they are NOT happy. You can't really 'stretch' a tendon but I did find some things online to try. Wasn't sure if it was due to it being colder here why I was feeling it or if it were really muscular (or lack there of) related. I'll keep an eye on it. Train hard - train smart! Meanwhile, I have to try to not let my running vanity get to me for this 5k - and just accept the fact that I will do it and not be able to jog the whole time.
too funny Angela, Brenda, I always write like I talk and talk like I write!!!! and don't hold my hands down, b/c I can't say a word without waving my arms and hands! LOL
I thought I saw some discussion about figuring out some foods to eat. I've got this 'code word' list that might help when buying things or eating out. It came from weight watchers.
Usually Higher in Fat & Calories: Au gratin; Battered; Blackened; Breaded; Buttered; Creamed; Crispy; Fried; Hollandaise; Parmigiana; Scalloped; Scampi
Healthier Options: Au jus (in its own juice); Baked; Boiled; Broiled; Grilled; Poached; Roasted; Steamed
Angela, too funny about the HSM song...I hear those in my sleep with the little ones. I am sure if you and Marci got together and you conversation got too animated, someone would get hurt with those arms flailing (sp) around:)
Organic applesauce, fresh blueberries...in the coffee grinder, I grind together organic cinnamon and flax seed...then stir in with applesauce and berries...Steve and I had this when we said at my aunt/uncle in Minnesota...but I had forgotten the benefits...she emailed me this on flaxseed...more than ever I need this routine...Whew the BP,Cholesterol benefits...
HealthCastle.com - Its high content of alpha linolenic acids has made the ancient flax seed become our modern miracle food. Alpha linolenic acid is a type of plant-derived omega 3 fatty acid, similar to those found in fish such as salmon. Benefits of flax seed as shown in many studies include lowering total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) levels. Other benefits show that flax seed may also help lower blood triglyceride and blood pressure. It may also keep platelets from becoming sticky therefore reducing the risk of a heart attack.
Other Benefits of Flax seed Aside from alpha linolenic acid, flax seed is rich in lignan. Lignan is a type phytoestrogen (antioxidant) and also provides fiber. Researches reveal that lignan in flax seed shows a lot of promise in fighting disease -- including a possible role in cancer prevention especially breast cancer. It is thought that lignan metabolites can bind to estrogen receptors, hence inhibiting the onset of estrogen-stimulated breast cancer.
Angela, funny stuff about the IPOD. I also have songs on mine that when they come on, they stop me in my tracks on the treadmill. Mine came with like 10 free songs, and they are very, very bad. Must get on there and wipe them out!
Leigh Ann, tell Paul that Roger is waiting for him! Just kidding! We love him, and he is a good dog but he is very stubborn and hard to train. It even says that online when you look them up...they are very loveable but forget the training!
Ansley's latest 2-word phrase is, "NO, DOG!!!" He constantly jumps up and tries to take whatever she is eating. She is letting him know who's boss! :)
OMG...I just saw Barbie...I think she OD'd on bad stuff LOL
I was looking into the DASH plan for my BP but I'm seeing it's WAY to much work involved in achieving that on so many levels...gonna stick with each week rotating to another meal plan...Marci's, then Stephs.then etc....I got really bummed when I saw what the DASH entails...gonna have to go and pick myself up and shake it off
BTW...thanks Leighann for sharing that from my aunt up there
Hey Marci...I'm Nicotene free/and pretty much caffeine free(although I may have one to none on a day..but nicked that too)will be one week tomorrow :D I'm eating ALOT....not too bad in my choices but ALOT ...sigh...I'm now going to work in that area...my BP I thought was going down but it's up and an occassional drop...maybe in time (?) Thanks for asking Marci :)
Brenda, it will come in time... I had High BP for almost 4 years, and on meds.... It's a rare occassion now that is gets High, usually b/c of the hubby and kids!!! LOL not really, just everyday stress...
I am so proud of you! Hats Off! and Lbs. Off!!! LOL
So, Marci, your B/P is good now? On or Off meds? Angela, Hope you were able to work out this evening. Brenda, So there are three of us for next week doing the reduction plan, yah!
YEs, no meds..... been off of them for 3 years now, and even though I'm still over weight, my BP is under control.... It fluctuates sometimes I think due to my weight and when I am completely stressed out and when anxiety comes up.... but most of the time I'm fine. I know when it is up, My face feels like it is on fire, and it's like having a hot flash....
Oh, yes, I will get ready this weekend for the reduction plan...
Leigh Ann, what's your email, I did my diaper cake and I want to send you pics... really turned out cute, KK had to help me... but that's ok.... I have your email at my office...
Yes, I'm in for the reduction next week :) you know my goal has been to get off the meds for BP and Marci...you just inspired me that, that can happen :) my most recent doc gave my kudos in the way of encouragement that it could happen but it may be short lived...I'm here to do it!!!! wooho clap clap clap
Brenda, it's all a combo of everything... and Stephanie would agree, my MIL was been out of our lives for 7 months and that has helped tremendously.... she's such a sour puss mean witch...... you just have to break free from the negative people and things in your life, and I promise, the stress and BP will evaporate as well... :) Marci
Gives me alot to think about...and I do, and will, take your advice and work with it :)
few questions on the reduction plan...in the AM where we drink the lemon water and apple...are we allowed to eat veggies too...or can we only have them at the specified times...heck, I'll even be ok with celery or even ice burg lettuce dipped in pepper!!!
Hurray for the rain! With soccer practice cancelled I thought I would be able to get a workout in. But no - thwarted again! My son's coaches decided to conviene at my house (with no time to straighten the end of week clutter up) and get caught up on administrative stuff. They didn't leave until just before 8p. I wolfed down a veggie sandwhich thinking I might be able to get some bike time in and only wound up with about 15min before Byron got home from area soccer meeting and had stuff to talk about. Oh well. I downloaded the data from my heart rate monitor to my training program and it showed me that I'm about an hour and 600 calories behind where I had hoped to be by the end of today. It tracks Mon-Sun, so I've still got some time where I can make it up.
I just need to get out of bed tomorrow morning and squeeze in a workout before I take the kids to school & go to work. Especially if it's rainy during lunch. But it sure is hard to get out of a warm, comfy bed on a rainy morning! Reminds me of a quote: Bad habits are like a comfy bed, easy to get into but hard to get out of.
I will ask Byron to make sure I get up to work out. I'm pretty sure he will enjoy dragging my ass outa bed!
Thought you all would like to know, I did two exercises yesterday that are very efficient, as my screaming muscles are concurring as I speak!
I have been doing additional arm workouts with weight over the past week, and I tell you, all of the freeweight stuff seems like a wasted effort after yesterday, when I did only 2 sets of 20 good old fashioned standard military pushups (not the girlie ones). My husband spotted me on my form. He insists that you are supposed to look up, parallel to the floor when you are doing them, which actually makes it harder. I can barely lift my arms this morning!
For the lower half, I did one that I borrowed from the SEAL training I have seen, and hubby said I was doing it right...squat down and balance on the balls of your feet, then bounce up and down, around the room. Hubby called it the "duck walk". I just jumped out of bed and wanted to cry out, my legs are so sore...never even been that sore after a 5-mile run...
Keep those muscles guessing..what is this crazy bitch going to do to us today? :)
Marci, I totally agree about eliminating the negativity...no matter how hard you try, you will never please everyone, so be happy and LIFE GOES ON! I was devastated at first but I just told myself, most people don't get along with their in-laws...it just makes it hard for the kids, which I hate her for! Grrr!!!!!!
oh no, you can eat your raw veggies all day..... the only thing that is limited is like the oz of meat.... and the diets cokes and such..... your fruits and veggies are great for you... I think that is the idea, to make you grab for the fruits and veggies more... :)
Yes, Steph, is sad for the kids, my little ones ask all the time, Why doesn't Grandma Anne, like us like the other kids.... breaks my heart, but it is her loss in the end.... they have slumber parties at their Granny's house... (my mom) and they think Leigh Ann's dad is their Paw Paw!!! LOL b/c of my oldest 2.... funny....
Hi all! We reach the end of a very long week. LeighAnn... thanks for calling last night honey. You are awesome! Dont worry about me... im tough and can make it thru all life has to toss at me!
I havent worked out this week at all. The weather has sucked, and i have been using my energy on other things. However... I have been careful about what I am eating.
Doctor's appt. Tuesday revealed MY thyroid is all screwed up again... so she has changed my dosage up a level and then next month another level. It was REALLY out of wack. I hit at 29 Leigh Ann... it should be what... 3? shit.
No wonder I cant get the freaking pounds off.... AND why after I work out... im asleep by 7:00. lol
Well ladies i will see you all at check in on Sunday!
Wow Tina...really sorry to hear about that thyroid reading :( What a challenge that does to you and your body...sad for what you're going through...sounds like you're doing what you need to , for you :)
Angela...that's one very cool machine you are using to monitor stuff WOW...love it!!
Steph :) those 2 maneuvers you described sound very painful LOL..I haven't even mastered the girlie pushups...how I made it through boot camp, I'll never know LOL
Marci :) thanks for the food update...LOL I normally eat cheerios (plain/no milk) and an apple at work..I do this after I have the applesauce routine..I think I'll have the veggies..and for the apple part do my organic apple sauce/blueberries,flax/cinnamon..
Kathi...hope you're doing good on your end...you too Crystal
Leighann...how did the first long night go for you??
BTW has anyone noticed one of Barbie's eyes has glazed over
Angela, too bad about the work out last night - I love your quote, however! And you gadget does sound neat and I hope you are able to reach your goal - the weather is not making it easy, thats for sure. Stephanie, I haven't done that squat exercise...but, I am doing 3 sets of 15 guy push-ups/5 times a week. I can usually pump out around 50 for my PRT twice a year - in TN, I did 80 something, the guys were in awe! If I could only do a sit up! Tina, I know your strong, girl, never doubted it. I am really sorry about your thyroid, that just makes everything a struggle - even to stay awake! Hopefully your increase in meds will help ASAP. Marci, Great advice about the negative things in life...some people are just mean and want to make everyone miserable. School wasn't too bad...I just wish we didn't have to do a portfolio! I will defend mine the end of Apr/beg of May...
80 pushups?!!!? Holy s--t! Wow! That's awesome. We are polar opposites, my friend...I could do situps all day long, but can't do a pullup to save my skin.
ya'll are too funny.... I can't do any of it.... Mike holds my feet, and I can barely get my top section off the ground for a damn crunch!!! LOL I blame it on my boobs!!!
LOL...I am heading to the gym now, although, I don't want to go. But, I have to work out every day if I want to drink miller lite tonight and with wine tasting tomorrow...going to try and not miss a day of cardio/core and I am alternating weights for upper and lower body...we will see. If the scale hasn't moved on Sunday, I am going to eat with Barbie!
right on~ working OT..then off to the gym...then I need to get some things together for my dad's bday gathering tomorrow....I've waited until the last hour it seems...I never do that!!!!!!!!! or rarely
Will shoot for a goal of 21 mins cardio vs 20 mins
hope everyone week is going ok..mine has been rough..my paperwork for Savannah-Hope should have been here and as now is still not here. I am frustrated sad and altogther sad about this. Today i had anothing day just hung out all day watched tv and played with the kids..still wearing my jammies :0 last night I had a cup of lowfat ice cream...aw well I am going to try and stick to the diet you guys are trying next week!!! Please pray thst my papers come tomorrow!!! However on a good note I got new pics of Savannah-Hope which I so NEEDED she is getting so big and still adorable feel free to check them out on my blog!!
WINE TASTING!!! I want to go! I am so jealous. I LOVE Wilson Creek wine & particularly the Almond Champaine. If you go there, I will be so very jealous. And I too would exercise my brains out all week - even in my sleep if I could- to go have a bottle or two...
Oh, for those that are doing those diets next week with the lemon. My mom had a lemon tree that used to explode lemons. She would squeeze them into ice cube trays and freeze. I do this occasionally and have lemon cubes for my water and soda.
I must not have been a big pill lately because hubby didn't drag me out of bed this morning to work out. I still managed most of a workout before school and then during lunch.
Angela, Yes, me and Stephanie were talking about the almond champagne on my family blog...We brought some to TN last Thanksgiving - it is my favorite...I will be having some tomorrow. Not a lot, Mackenzie is playing in that tournament up there, is your son? If so, we could maybe meet... Crystal, Praying that you get the paperwork for Savannah...I can't imagine the wait - it would drive me nuts. And don't feel bad, everyone needs a jammie day once in a while. Enjoy it while your kids are little, cause when they get older, they will be doing thier own thing and you will be sitting in your jammies alone, now that is depressing! Brenda, Hope you have a great workout...and I sure your dad's gift will be wonderful!
Leigh Ann - I AM JEALOUS!!! Truman is in All Stars which was supposed to be in San Marcos. It's pushed out a weekend because the fields are shut down from the rain. Which club is hosting? Byron teaches at Vail Ranch Middle up there. He had to paint the soccer field on his prep for his middle school team's game today. I know some of the clubs use his school. You'd think since he worked up in Tememcula he could bring his wino wife home a bottle once in a while! (jk) Anyway, good luck and enjoy.
Crystal - Sounds like something really important you are waiting for. I'm sure all of us will send our good thoughts your way.
It's 1017 and I have already worked for 7 hours, taken my car to the dealership, taken the family to breakfast and now I am back home and I am TIRED! I believe I am ready for my siesta before I work out. Otherwise, treadmilling could be dangerous (ever try running with your eyes closed?) :) Hope you guys have fun in Temecula!
Good Morning! Wow,Steph, I guess you are ready for a nap. I just got back from the gym, woke everyone up, walked the dogs and am going to shower and go get a hair cut before we leave town. Have a great day, everyone! Looks like Barbie doesn't know when to quit:)
Lucky!! I would love to go for a trim, but my husband wouldn't go for it. I swore to him I would let it grow after my "chop job" in 06. I would have to reword it to something like a "therapeutic scalp massage" or a "growth stimulation". He is not buying the theory that trimming your hair actually makes it grow, like they tell you at the salons!! :)
well finally Barbie, it caught up with you!!! I love it... :)
Stephanie, I just ask my husband if he wants to fix my longer hair every day, and he says, well maybe cut it a little!!! LOL Its amazing how ALL men like long hair... what's up with that???
Have fun at wine tasting, I am truely jealous.....
not doing to well today; had one of my episodes today and i'm recovering from too much ativan, so very tired...so no exercise today (i'm suprised i'm typing as clearly as i am) this detox stuff is hell. but i'm doing ok; muscles are sore, but i''m fine; just gonna spend the day in bed sleeping it off. i'll hopefully be back ready to go tomorrow.
Yes, got a trim, had them straighten it - I love it! If only my body as wasy to maintain! We are going to go wine tasting tomorrow...ran out of time today. She plays two games tomorrow, too. So, we have an hour or so to kill before we head out. I am actually in the Van doing this - I love my card - I can do the internet anywhere. This could be a scary thing!
Kathi, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Take it easy...Rome was not built in a day. Recuperate today then back on track when you feel up to it! We know you can do it!
Too funny, Marci! I wouldn't let my husband NEAR my hair, with any styling implement!! :) Yeah, what is up with men and that long hair thing? I can't have it super long because it's fine and when it's long, it's heavy and therefore, FLAT! But I am trying..it's just below my shoulders now.
Kathi, take care of yourself, take it one day at a time... that's all we can all do.... hopefully tomorrow will be a wonderful day for you.
I made a huge veggie soup today.... I will be able to eat on that all week.... just veggies/with tomato sauce/no oil and flour.... so I can have a cup here and there next week...... really low cal....
I think I'll try and drink the hot lemon water a few times a day.. I am pretty sure it is a natural dieretic.... does anyone know what else can help in that area?
“A diuretic is a medication or chemical that promotes the elimination of fluid in the body. This can lead to an accelerated metabolism that seems to flush out the fatty deposits that may lodge themselves on cells. Diuretics break down fatty deposits into small chunks and make it easier for your body to flush these nasty little things out of your body.”
It’s recommended that you drink a LOT of water when using food as a diuretic to make sure you do not dehydrate and you flush your system out. Here is a list of foods that are natural diuretics
Kathi..What happened??? I didn't understand what kind of episode you had (?) gosh, hope you're ok!! Hang in there...you too Crystal..enjoy your jammies!!!!! Heck...Tina....you too, should wear your jammies all day too...I remember all that Leighann has been through with her thyroid...I sure hope it doesn't take long to get it in control
Building a snowman can burn about 285 calories. So, when it’s to cold to walk or jog outside, you can still have some fun and exercise at the same time.
ok..we don't have snow...how about a SANDMAN!!!! I'm gonna do it LOL!! I will make a date in my runner to do just that!!
Brenda... when you decide to build that sand man, you let me know! Im coming too!! The way its raining right now... it would be a mud man! See you all tomorrow
Yes Tina...tomorrow I'm looking at the forecast for the week and then will schedule SANDMAN or MUDMAN time :D I'll let you know when and if it works for you :)
ya know what I just noticed, I'm doing that reduction plan for the week...just made my grocery list...I'm going to save a BUNDLE at the store tomorrow LOL
Brenda...I have to make my list, too. Thanks for letting Rayna hang out with you. And for sharing all that information. Who knew? Kathi, I hope you are ok. Tina, I did the dye thing, too - before my haircut:)
you bet Leighann...and thank you for the fun ride following barbie...Rayne said barbie was growing in the early pics...darn it..I didn't even see it..I only noticed all the food..and in the end she was big...but I didn't see her slowly getting big..
I'm ok, Brenda and Leighann; it's just something I've had since I was a year and a half old...gave me too much anasthesia (stuff that makes u sleep for surgery) during one of my surgeries when I was little; i'm on daily medication for it and this time i didn't take it for a couple weeks; sometime i can handle them on my own and it's usually over within an hour; when it gets out of my control, i have to call 911 (doesn't happen very often). This time I had to call. That's why I'm up at 3am; slept all day. I really am ok; just need to get my system adjusted.

Happy Monday to all. I am heading to the gym with my new and improved and much more aggressive work out! Thank you all for being apart of this painful process:)
What's up with bulimic Barbie? :) No other explanation for that killer bod after pigging out in such a blatant manner! :)
Leigh Ann,
Go girl! Be aggressive...be, be aggressive! (that's my cheer routine for today!)
Angela
I may walk a little today; but it's too COLD. I may just take a stroll around my level, instead of pushin out a mile today.
i can't believe we're in our fourth week already...i think we're all doing FABULOUS...
GIRL POWER!!!!!
We are back from running errands...I will update Angela's and Marci's (she lost .6, which is more than me) tickers.
Stephanie...keep an eye on Barbie's body this week.
I know Tina and Kathi, it is yucky out there!
Me and Paul had a great work out and earler and I have been good today...so far.
Diet Questions Answered...From Marci!
And remember:
'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO!
From Steph - this is good to know:
And from Kathi-New Motto for 2008!
A POEM ABOUT OUR GIRLFRIENDS
Someone will always be prettier.
Someone will always be smarter. Some of their houses will be bigger.
Some will drive a better car. Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.
So let it go, and love you and your circumstances.
Think about it!
The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.
And the most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children.
And the richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the clothes, might be lonely.
And the word says, 'If I have not Love, I am nothing.'
So, again, love you.
Love who you are.
Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say,
'I am too Blessed to be Stressed and too Anointed, to be Disappointed!'
'Winners make things happen - Losers let things happen.' Be 'Blessed' Ladies!
That was great!! Thanks to all of you for getting those guotes and poems up....BTW, I will be watching that Barbie...I was believing the meat good for you due to the grains etc...LOL
I did 6 miles on my bike in nist/drizzle...then did 40 mins at the gym
I have not had a caffinated beverage today...WOW!! and the no nicotine gum continues :D WOW
I'm going to go to work in the AM and know if I need a caff bev to wake up, then I'm going to do it...but I'll stick to my one rule :)
It's going to be a great week :D
Thanks for posting that poem, Leigh Ann. I think it's a great motivator
I didn't walk today; will do some tomorrow, if I'm feeling up to it...
I did do a little walking tonight; not around the whole level though
Hi everyone!
Glad it's Tuesday already:) Great job Brenda and Kathi - I am going to try to be really aggressive this week with my workout. Yes, and thanks for everyone's wonderful information and no, Barbie is not is a good place:(
Right on Leighann ....we'll be more aggressive about it :) me too!! my butt and abs are really sore LOL but I like it :) makes me feel like I'm doing what/where needs to be done LOL
it's 9:40am at work and I did NOT need a caffeine this AM to work at my job!! OMG you have no idea how much that means to me!!!
Wonderful...I just printed out two more great pics for your zen cube...I am going to put them in your mailbox on my way to SDSU.
Thank you sooo much :D
Have a great day back to school for you~don't forget....if school takes too much that you can't update this blog ...lemme know, and I can help out...or I'm sure any other of the local women here :)
Will do!
ROFLMAO....the end
Hello Ladies,
My mp3 player died for good yesterday while jogging/walking.
OMG!!!
Angela
Here's to new obsessions!
Angela

MARCI
Sounds good, Marci! I would love to see the diet plan.
It's called the Reduction Plan!
Daily:
64 oz water

Leigh Ann, thanks for posting "Mylee" she is my precious angel.....
Love ya
Marci
Love ya, too! OK, everyone, what do you think of the reduction plan? It sounds like it hits everything...whats up with the warm lemon water?
LOL
he may motivate our asses....
A movie,
10 women and 1 man.... lose the weight!!!! he'd lose it fast with 10 women!!!
Marci
do you think the warm water with lemon is supposed to be like a tea????? I mean I know they say lemon water is a huge dieretic...
there's that water loss....
Let me know what you think will work... maybe a combo of everyone's ideas....
Marci
I don't know...about the lemon - I will google it.
Brenda, great workout! Good job being nice...what goes around comes around and no pain no gain - blah, blah, blah:)
From one site:
As with all weight loss plans you receive a lot of "tips" from everyone that you talk to.
And another:
Yes!
So, it can't hurt, right?
i have to write down the diet marci put up; sounds great...my body won't know what hit it...i did a little walk today again, like last night. tomorrow i'm going to the doctor, so doing a little more.
i forgot; meal wise today, i had no breakfast, salad for lunch and a can of soup (put in a mug) for dinner - cream of mushroom.
Sorry for the lengthy last note, girls. Marci, you just pretty much described my staple diet so I wanted to share, because it does work for me!
Leigh Ann, I also agree with the lemon...what could it hurt? It also promotes salivary flow, which promotes better digestion.
Stephanie,
Thanks for the information...so that's how you maintain that killer bod:)
Marci,
I may do it next week and just see what happens. Is anyone else gonna try it?
Kathi,
Sometimes at Ralphs (that's the name of our grocery store her in San Diego, strange, uh) the healthier meals are sometimes 10 for 10 also. I had one of the soups for dinner the other day and I really enjoyed it. Kept me nice and full on that rainy evening.
thanks Steph...I'm salivating afterlooking at the word lemon..don't even have one in my water LOL...
WOW! LOADS of info left on this blog since last night...THANK YOU and I will for sure copy down this stuff...After talking with my husband...I'm going to do basically each week the same meal plan...then the next week switch it to something else..etc...so, Marci, I'm doing yours next week, then Steph, I'm doing yours the following week...and I will go home tonight and continue to slice lemons in my water...that I do love :D
Thanks for all the info gals!!
Steph,
What brand of tea do you use?
ok...take care Leighann...
Worked out and did some homework and housework and am off to school, ugh!
Hey Steph...I've always been wrong place/wrong time for work at home
:( but I will always be on the look out :D Luckily, my work hours for the last approx 10 years have been the 6-2:30pm shift...I was sooo very happy to get those hours due to the job prior had me til 6pm and some really negative things were happening in my family.....you're so lucky!!!!!!!
well off to do some work on the computer....
ok... again... where have I been?
I am a complete nutcase at this point...... can't catch up.....
Stephanie.... I have to ask....
why do you want to lose weight? you look gorgeous..... athletic eat right, but I guess that's why you stay that way... do you ever just CHEAT?????????
I had to ask from a Fat person!!! LOL
Leigh Ann, and whomever else asked...
Marci
Hi all! Just a quick hello. I havent worked out this week. Things a bit crazy around here. Good Luck this week and I will be back when I can!
Tina
Thanks, Stephanie - I will have to try those.
Brenda, Barbie is NOT eating anything good for her! My two classes are tomorrow night - hence no Survivor:(
Marci, I am going to give it a go with you next week!
Marci...My husband and I will join you and your menu next week in food spirit :D
Then the following week, we are going to join Steph and her menu :D
Tina...miss you and await your return...
sounds great!
Marci
I am with you, Marci - stick with what works...I hope it works for me!
no walking today; and no doctor; but if i can get my ass up in the morning, will do it tomorrow; i have to go to get my pot (LOL) checked again. and then next week i have an appt with him (doctor) to discuss the potassium and my feet hurting when i walk (i have tight heel cords; don't ask what they are, cuz i'm not even sure); but despite them hurting, i still do it - no pain, no gain.
Richard Simmons cracked me up; and with Barbie eating eating so much shit, perhaps she'll gain some weight, instead of looking gross (?).
Morning Stephanie! And I think Kathi may be on to something with Miss Barbie...stay tuned.
Good morning everyone!
Do ya'll sleep!!! Steph you must have been up with your little one...
I just ordered a birthday bouquet for my 19 year old!! Happy B'day Sam!
Hope everyone has an awesome, hunger free day, filled with lots of water and exercise!!!
Marci
No, the baby slept through the night, which is actually rare! I work at night; well super-early morning (start around 0200).
I am actually about ready for a nap! I just finished my run and shower, and I think I can try to lie down for a few when the baby goes for her morning nap at 10, then it's back to work!!
Good morning, Leigh Ann! I hope to see Barbie in some sweat pants and a stringy pony tail soon...the way she is eating, she deserves it! (just kidding; I love Barbie and I hope she gets through whatever emotional crisis brought on all of this binge-eating!) :)
Have a good day, everyone!!
Happy Birthday, Sam! Damn, were old.
Yes, Barbie needs to hit the treadmill, cause we all know what happens when you eat this way:(
WOW!
You are amazing!!!!
I've got to find my will power, it's hiding somewhere!!! LOL
Marci
yes Leigh Ann, we are getting old!!!!!!!!!
shit, I'm starting to feel old too.....
Marci
yes...something better happen to Barbie!!!!! with all that food around her looking so good LOL
darnit!
I just want to snap Barbie in two, or maybe let my dog chew on her!!!
Built up frustration and anger!!!
LOL
Marci
Marci LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! Oh myyyy
clap clap clap
I know Brenda, I have moments where I lose control!
Leigh Ann, can you send me some pics of those diaper cakes?
Hopefully I won't try to eat it afterwards! LOL
Marci
Marci
those weenie dog stories are very funny LOL
the suspense is killing me Leighann...has Barbie fallen and can't get up???
Hey Marci, love how you write southern :) it's cold, wet, rainy and interrferring in my daily plans LOL...but I do love the rain :D
Hello Ladies - checking in!
What's up with bimbo Barbie?! Just because something is non-fat doesn't mean you can eat the whole thing! Calories - duh!!
Angela :o)
Angela
too funny Angela,
Brenda,
I always write like I talk and talk like I write!!!!
and don't hold my hands down, b/c I can't say a word without waving my arms and hands! LOL
I thought I saw some discussion about figuring out some foods to eat. I've got this 'code word' list that might help when buying things or eating out. It came from weight watchers.
Usually Higher in Fat & Calories:
Au gratin; Battered; Blackened; Breaded; Buttered; Creamed; Crispy; Fried; Hollandaise; Parmigiana; Scalloped; Scampi
Healthier Options:
Au jus (in its own juice); Baked; Boiled; Broiled; Grilled; Poached; Roasted; Steamed
Enjoy! -Angela :o)
Marci
Do you type with your nose too?! I have too - I also talk w/my hands (it's the Italian in me).
Angela :o)
Angela, too funny about the HSM song...I hear those in my sleep with the little ones. I am sure if you and Marci got together and you conversation got too animated, someone would get hurt with those arms flailing (sp) around:)
From the desk of Brenda:
Other Benefits of Flax seed
Aside from alpha linolenic acid, flax seed is rich in lignan.
Too sweet...I am off to run a couple of errands before school. I have two classes tonight, ugh! I will check in with you guys between classes.
OMG...I just saw Barbie...I think she OD'd on bad stuff LOL
I was looking into the DASH plan for my BP but I'm seeing it's WAY to much work involved in achieving that on so many levels...gonna stick with each week rotating to another meal plan...Marci's, then Stephs.then etc....I got really bummed when I saw what the DASH
entails...gonna have to go and pick myself up and shake it off
BTW...thanks Leighann for sharing that from my aunt up there
Brenda, how is it going with the nicotene????
going better?
I'm going to rotate ideas as well, that's a great idea.
Marci
Hey Marci...I'm Nicotene free/and pretty much caffeine free(although I may have one to none on a day..but nicked that too)will be one week tomorrow :D I'm eating ALOT....not too bad in my choices but ALOT ...sigh...I'm now going to work in that area...my BP I thought was going down but it's up and an occassional drop...maybe in time (?)
Thanks for asking Marci :)
Great Job, Brenda!
Brenda, it will come in time...
I had High BP for almost 4 years, and on meds.... It's a rare occassion now that is gets High, usually b/c of the hubby and kids!!! LOL not really, just everyday stress...
I am so proud of you! Hats Off!
and Lbs. Off!!! LOL
Marci
So, Marci, your B/P is good now? On or Off meds?
Angela,
Hope you were able to work out this evening.
Brenda,
So there are three of us for next week doing the reduction plan, yah!
Marci
Yes, I'm in for the reduction next week :) you know my goal has been to get off the meds for BP and Marci...you just inspired me that, that can happen :) my most recent doc gave my kudos in the way of encouragement that it could happen but it may be short lived...I'm here to do it!!!! wooho clap clap clap
Brenda,
it's all a combo of everything...
and Stephanie would agree, my MIL was been out of our lives for 7 months and that has helped tremendously.... she's such a sour puss mean witch...... you just have to break free from the negative people and things in your life, and I promise, the stress and BP will evaporate as well...
:)
Marci
Angela :o)
Good morning, everybody!
LOL b/c of my oldest 2.... funny....
Marci
AND why after I work out... im asleep by 7:00. lol
Well ladies i will see you all at check in on
Sunday!
BTW has anyone noticed one of Barbie's eyes has glazed over
Barbie looks like she in in a sugar coma..... that's good for her, since she eats all that and still has a killer bod!!! LOL
I'm going to try and do a detox on Saturday and Sunday to get myself 1/2 ready for Monday's regimine.
Marci
LMAS about Barbie's glazed eye!
Angela, too bad about the work out last night - I love your quote, however! And you gadget does sound neat and I hope you are able to reach your goal - the weather is not making it easy, thats for sure.
Stephanie,
I haven't done that squat exercise...but, I am doing 3 sets of 15 guy push-ups/5 times a week. I can usually pump out around 50 for my PRT twice a year - in TN, I did 80 something, the guys were in awe! If I could only do a sit up!
Tina,
I know your strong, girl, never doubted it. I am really sorry about your thyroid, that just makes everything a struggle - even to stay awake! Hopefully your increase in meds will help ASAP.
Marci,
Great advice about the negative things in life...some people are just mean and want to make everyone miserable.
Ahhhh...poor Barbie! That's hilarious!!
Barbie is overweight! I can't do a pullup, either. But pushups, yes. Situps, no...
ya'll are too funny....
I can't do any of it....
Mike holds my feet, and I can barely get my top section off the ground for a damn crunch!!! LOL
I blame it on my boobs!!!
Marci
LOL...I am heading to the gym now, although, I don't want to go. But, I have to work out every day if I want to drink miller lite tonight and with wine tasting tomorrow...going to try and not miss a day of cardio/core and I am alternating weights for upper and lower body...we will see. If the scale hasn't moved on Sunday, I am going to eat with Barbie!
Oh Barbie, you are a mess LOL...she just fell over on herself
Although, I do feel like her right about now
you guys..whew...pull ups, sit ups, push ups...guess that's the way to go
Ohhh Miller Lite!!! See you at 6:30 so I can join you...Leighann, where are you going wine tasting at??
I'm with you Leighann on the daily workout :) I'm logged in for it myself...
I am not sure where we are going...I will show you the print outs that Paul has tonight - and he bought a new deck of cards!
right on~ working OT..then off to the gym...then I need to get some things together for my dad's bday gathering tomorrow....I've waited until the last hour it seems...I never do that!!!!!!!!!
Angela :o)
Angela,
Yes, me and Stephanie were talking about the almond champagne on my family blog...We brought some to TN last Thanksgiving - it is my favorite...I will be having some tomorrow. Not a lot, Mackenzie is playing in that tournament up there, is your son? If so, we could maybe meet...
Crystal,
Praying that you get the paperwork for Savannah...I can't imagine the wait - it would drive me nuts. And don't feel bad, everyone needs a jammie day once in a while. Enjoy it while your kids are little, cause when they get older, they will be doing thier own thing and you will be sitting in your jammies alone, now that is depressing!
Brenda,
Hope you have a great workout...and I sure your dad's gift will be wonderful!
Happy Friday ladies.
Angela :o)
Well I actually got my walk/jog/run done today. Did the stair stepper... and had salmon and pasta for dinner.
Hope the lack of workout this week doesnt put me in the negative sunday...
Happy Friday everyone.
I hope Sunday will be good for us all:) You have had a week from hell, so be nice to yourself.
You should come drink with me and Brenda right now.
I wanna come drink with you and Brenda!!!
Marci
not doing to well today; had one of my episodes today and i'm recovering from too much ativan, so very tired...so no exercise today (i'm suprised i'm typing as clearly as i am) this detox stuff is hell. but i'm doing ok; muscles are sore, but i''m fine; just gonna spend the day in bed sleeping it off. i'll hopefully be back ready to go tomorrow.
Hi Ladies! Well, I got my workout in today. Thank goodness. That right after the haircut and dye job for the trip! ha!
LeighAnn... i didnt see your invite to drink beer till this morning!! Or I would have been there in a flash! lol!
Good Luck to everyone tomorrow!!
Kathi,
take care of yourself, take it one day at a time... that's all we can all do....
hopefully tomorrow will be a wonderful day for you.
Thanks
Marci
Marci, I found this info on a weightloss board:
“A diuretic is a medication or chemical that promotes the elimination
of fluid in the body. This can lead to an accelerated metabolism that
seems to flush out the fatty deposits that may lodge themselves on
cells. Diuretics break down fatty deposits into small chunks and make
it easier for your body to flush these nasty little things out of your
body.”
It’s recommended that you drink a LOT of water when using food as a
diuretic to make sure you do not dehydrate and you flush your system
out. Here is a list of foods that are natural diuretics
Asparagus
Beets
Brussels Sprouts
Cabbage
Carrots
Celery
Cucumber
Garlic
Horseradish
Lettuce
Onions
Radishes
Tomatoes
Apple Cider Vinegar
Kathi..What happened??? I didn't understand what kind of episode you had (?) gosh, hope you're ok!! Hang in there...you too Crystal..enjoy your jammies!!!!!
Heck...Tina....you too, should wear your jammies all day too...I remember all that Leighann has been through with her thyroid...I sure hope it doesn't take long to get it in control
Hey Angela...where can I buy one of those monitors you have.
too too funny...found it on the web:
Building a snowman can burn about 285 calories. So, when it’s to
cold to walk or jog outside, you can still have some fun and exercise
at the same time.
ok..we don't have snow...how about a SANDMAN!!!!
