First Check In Tomorrow...Weight and Miles

Getting weighed scale smiley
Hi everyone,
We have added another girl, YAH! Welcome Stephanie - read her bio, she is a runner. So, we will be encouraging her as she increases the miles she runs...hence the check in for either miles or weight. I am still missing the information needed to create pages for Mandy and Heidi - come on girls! So, tomorrow you can email me your data (I am scared!) and I will transfer that to your ticker. Also, you can email me a little note about your week (if you want) and I will post that on your personal page as well. Any suggestions, just let me know.

Thanks Leighann for everything you have done for this blog :) Without you, we all wouldn't be here together as a group!!

Leigh Ann said...

Your welcome! You guys just tell me here in this comment section how much you lost/ran this week and I will do the tickers. Nevermind about the email...this is what the blog is for!

Tina said...

Hey... I think Im gonna start watching inches too. Since we know muscle weighs more than fat, I want another metric. I want to FEEL good AND LOOK good! :o)

here's another thing Dana told us to watch out for in addition to high fructose corn syrup...we need to watch out for partially hydroginated oils (sp?) I broke out the salad dressing spritzer last night all proud of myself, and Dana said NOPE, NOT GOOD!! I read the label and it has high fructose corn syrup :( SOOO I grabbed, I think some lite viadalla onion sressing...and it wasn't listed in the ingredients :D
I will log in with the weight in the AM :)

Hopefully our first week will get us in the groove.... I know I have messed up a few times.... but getting there.... the weather is not so cold, so hopefully I can get outside more and get more walking in.
Leigh Ann, you are the best!

Go there and see this :) I found it as I was toodling around one of Leighann's links...the weight watcher one..somehow..I found this LOL...This lady is smart, imaginative and is making money LMAS...I thought of all the treadmill women here :D

Leigh Ann said...

I will have to look at that. Thanks, Brenda.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Brenda, those salad dressings are bad stuff, and a definite no-no to the health and waistline-aware! You can make your own pretty easily, and add fresh herbs which is really good, or you can do like me and go with no dressing. Sounds gross, but you'd be amazed at how the flavor of the salad is better when not drenched in goo. :) I like the hot stuff, and add red and banana peppers and even jalapenos to my salads.

The starling fitness site is good!

Mandy, your bio picture is hilarious! Tell us more about the paddling. That sounds like a lot of fun. Oh, I don't guess there's a way to do it without being on the water! (I'm not so good with water/motion sickness!)

Leigh Ann said...

Ok...I will go first, I lost 2.4 lbs. I am ok with that, not thrilled, but ok.

Tina said...

WAY TO GO Leigh Ann!! If you think about it, its not even a week! So 2.4 is great!
I Weigh in at 145, thats 2 lbs. I am getting a new scale today, so if it says something different... i will post the new again. :o)

Leigh Ann said...

GREAT JOB! That "no smoking" weight is leaving our backsides:)

Tina said...

And my ass will soon be Friendless!! Oh glorious day! ha ha ha

Anonymous said...

Great weigh in Tina and Leighann!!! clap clap clap clap!!!
I weigh in 1/2 pound less this AM it's funny because when I signed up at the gym, the guy looks at me when I say my goal is 35.5 pound goal...well dammit...there's my 1/2 pound right there!!! WOOHOO...I didn't burn enough calories this past week as I took in...so, that's what I"m going to work on this week :D

Leigh Ann said...

Good Job, Brenda! Like Tina said, it wasn't a full week, either.

Tina said...

WAY to GO Brenda!!! *whistle* (and if you are wondering how loud the whistle is... Ask Leigh Ann... hehe)

Leigh Ann said...

Jeez, open a window, I am sure you can here it!:)

Anonymous said...

thanks to you all!! I saw something interesting yesterday as I was sitting in the cell phone lot at the airport...it was raining...not heave but more misty/drizzle and this guy was running...made me think that he doesn't use excuses for himself...SO, with that...I'm going outside to walk :D

Stephanie said...

Way to go, girls! And Leigh Ann, if you can maintain the 2.5 a week, you will be there in 8 weeks...way ahead of schedule. That's awesome for 1 week. Remember that the books say that weight loss over 2 pounds a week is unhealthy, and most likely will come back! Stay slow and steady!

Leigh Ann said...

Thanks, yes, I know it's best to go slow and I always seem to lose more the first week.

Anonymous said...

did the walk and used an umbrella for part of it...just a mist out there but I do feel like I gave myself a prize for this goal...walking in the rain (well, almost rain...it was misting)...Steph, I did see somewhere you mentioned the salad dressing issue...I think I'm going to make my own instead of going naked salad...the naked salad could be a goal for me to reach, but that's going to be awhile LOL baby steps, for sure

Tina said...

I just got back from my 25 minute walk/jog/run. AND I did 8 minutes of weights. Fred got me a book called New Year New You... and it has great food and snack and "belly buster" exercises! Cool!

Anonymous said...

oops...Stephanie...I called you Steph in my previous comment....

Leigh Ann said...

Nice going girls!

The Johnson Family said...

Sorry I am just getting in from church!! I lost 1.5...congrats to everyone we are on our way!!! The mothers in Bella's dance class yesterday picked out a mommy and me dance for ballet...on june 7 I will be on stage in a white nightgown with 2000 people watching!!! Pressure is on!! However the song is god bless my little girl and I am sure it will be a tresured memory even with my fat booty :0

Leigh Ann said...

It will be a skinny booty by June! Congrats on the weight loss!

Stephanie said...

Brenda, calling me Steph is cool. My friends call me Steph! :)

Kathi said...

ok, so i'm lagging a bit today...if brenda and the guy she saw at the airport can do it, i can also walk in the rain/mist/cold...so off i go; don't have a scale, or i'd weigh in; leigh ann, just use what i weighted at my doctor's appt last week as my weigh in

Noboyz said...

Go girls! I am jealous.

I only lost 1 lb as of my scale, my gym's scale is 2 lbs off of mine, (more) so I will go off of my scale :)
that was the first time I weighed at the gym. it shows decimals also, which I like....
1 lb. at a time, it didn't come on over night and it's not going off over night.... wishes, wishes, wishes.....

Marci

Leigh Ann said...

One works! Good Job!

Kathi said...

lol marci; ok, finished my walk...this time, I not only walked around the entire complex, but i walked around my building as well (mainly because I hadn't picked up yesterday's mail...lol)

Kathi said...

walked around my level, sorry

Leigh Ann said...

Good going, what is your weight today and I will update your ticker.

Anonymous said...

I've learned how to truley benefit from a work out using free weights and floor exercises...Leighann showed me her worout and I did most of it..between that and that scary machine at the gym....this is for me and I know I have to do it.My fellow blog friends...I'm tired, drop dead exhausted, wiped out..nothing :( I'm gonna do it and keep doing it...but my spirits went right down the drain...I'm going to log off now....and go do it (some of it) again

Leigh Ann said...

Ahh...you poor thing! You did so good!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Leighann!! I went and did one set with 12 reps each of the hard ones you taught me...I'm good until tomorrow at the gym...darn, the exhaustion. Where the heck did that come from?? Don't recall feeling this way before...could it be age related LOL

Leigh Ann said...

I think it could be...I am emotionally DONE! Check my other blog later or tomorrow and you will see what I am doing now...LMAS!

Kathi said...

I don't have a scale yet :(, so can't weigh in; I may have to go to the doctor just to get weighed until I get a scale; I'm feeling pretty great though, so I know I'm losing

Anonymous said...

OK, after my devastating 1 lb....
I went to the gym and worked out for an hour this time.... I FELT the burn! LOL I then went home and did some exercises and sit ups... and walked around the house with my ankle weights on the entire evening... my legs felt like rubber bands last night...
hoping for at least 2 lbs next week... but it better be 4....

I had a salad last night, (with no dressing Steph).... :)

Marci

Leigh Ann said...

Great! Marci...LMAS! The ankle weights are good idea.

Leigh Ann said...

Kathy, we will have to get you a scale...we need data:)

Stephanie said...

Rock on, Marci! Ditching the dressing is not so bad! :)

Anonymous said...

well, I just recently started eating dressing, and its usually lite caesar, but I will do without alltogether.
yes, Kathy needs a scale, maybe a neighbor close has one?
I am going work out tonight, even though LSU is playing in the championship!!!! Now, that's dedication! LOL

Marci

Leigh Ann said...

That is dedication!

Anonymous said...

I knew you would feel that way! Ha

Are you finished with school yet?

Marci

Leigh Ann said...

No, I have one more semester...I am fixing to register for it today. I will graduate in May! And then we transfer back to Nashville (me in Pensacola) I will commute on the weekend. Then, after 3 years, I retire.

Anonymous said...

That is awesome! I am so proud of you. How far is Nashville to Pensacola? That will be hard, but worth it to retire in 3 years! I am truly a jealous bystander... LOL
I will retire at 80, if my kids keep on like now.... ha

Marci

Leigh Ann said...

Oh, I will retire from the Navy and get another job! It's about a seven hour drive. Hopefully, I will be flying - we will see, I know kids are expensive! The older they get the more they cost - emotionally and financially.

Anonymous said...

well yes hopefully you will be driving is right.
KateLynne goes to the doctor on the 15th, so we will confirm whether it is a girl or not.

Leigh Ann said...

Let me know and I will make the baby something!

Anonymous said...

cool!

KK actually knitted a little beanie cap at my mom's the other day... precious!

Marci

Anonymous said...

Hey all...great job Marci on your workouts, I too, like the ankle weight idea :) the scale spoke to us this time around...now we can go back and tweak our plan LOL...I'm sure with what Leighann taught me, I'll do better weighing in..you too, Kathi...if you're feeling good!!! WOOHOO! I'm feeling better than yesterday, Powder (the dog) had a seizure last night during my restless night of sleep so that has me tired but I'm not exhausted, heading for the gym after work :)

Kathi said...

Yeah, I do need a scale. Not sure I have the money this month AGAIN. God, I need a job.

Leigh Ann said...

Poor powder, how is she today?

Anonymous said...

Poor Powder is right, does she take medicine for the epilepsy?
My sister's dog used to.

Leigh Ann,
everytime I pull up the blog I laugh at the little smiley face running... I just think, I wish I had her energy!!! LOL

Marci

Anonymous said...

Hey Kathi...maybe you can do measurements instead of weighins?

Leighann,Marci...Powder I'm sure is outside right now...I'm at work..she spends hours after a seizure walking it off...she's at the max limit for seizure meds, in fact, she's toxic..but there is no longer anything we can do...but love her through the rest of her time with us :) she is still such a happy go lucky dog with life let to live!!! (she's a shar-pei lab..labs are genetic for seizures)

Kathi said...

poor baby, brenda; how old is she? Oh, if she's got shar pei in her, i get she's got all kinds of folds of skin to her, huh? I love those dogs; I feel so silly; I don't even have a tape measure here at the house. I like the weighins better, anyway; think it's more of a motivator for me. Thanks anyway, brenda. I think I'm gonna actually go tackle my hill that I live on (Leigh Ann, you know the one). Luckily, there's a fire station just down the street from me....lol

Kathi said...

paramedics, i mean

Anonymous said...

too funny...

Leigh Ann said...

Kathi, be careful on that hill! Isn't too wet right now?

Tina said...

I am off to the park for my walk/jog/run thingy. LOL. Lets hope I dont get rained on... after all... I am as sweet as sugar and I might melt. *GAG*

Tina

Leigh Ann said...

HAHAHA - you make me laugh, it's really cold out today.

Tina said...

Whew. I did a 30 minute walk/jog/run. And 10minutes of it carrying 3 lb weights in each hadnd!! I feel GREAT!! *oh... there are a few songs on Britney's new album is GREAT for working out to.* Wanted you to know! :-) And hey... you KNOW im good for a laugh! hehe

Tina

Kathi said...

no, it wasn't too wet; and i went down the hill; walked to arco and back (that totals a mile people; takes her bow)...and no paramedics needed...lol; now all i need is a damn scale...i want to see if all this walking is paying off; the funny thing is, i'm really not all that tired from the walk; i felt the burn, but not tired at all.

The Johnson Family said...

Okay so first Brenda I am so sorry about your dog :(

Kathi so glad the paramedics did not need to help you!!! keep it up!!!

Stephanie I would love any tips you have on running, I have never been able to run but I am trying!!

Mandy ..how have you been i was keeping up with you somewhat through christine!!

Leigh Ann thanks for all the hard work you have put into this it is so helpful for all of us!! you have done an amazing job!!

Looks like everyone had a good first week!!!

The Johnson Family said...

oh yeah.. I am doing the weight watchers program but not actually going to the meetings cause of the cost!! is everyone else doing atkins?

Leigh Ann said...

LMAO...that is great Kathi - no paramedics needed. Tina, good job to you as well. Hey Crystal, good to hear from you, I know your busy, how is work? I just go back myself and I am starving.Sent Paul to get me a salad from Rubios - had one the other day and it was yummy. Not fish taco yummy, but good none the less.

Noboyz said...

Back from the gym, I did 25 minutes on the treadmill, 10 on the bicycle, a whopping 2 minutes on the eliptacle (SP.)... I will do my sit ups tonight and yes, I have my ankle weights on....
I am watching the LSU championship game, and they had better get their heads in the game fast... oh, and I am not drinking a beer...
:(
Marci

Leigh Ann said...

I am not drinking a beer either! Damn it. My husband has talked me into drinking a glass of red wine a night (I don't like wine, I like miller lite) for health benefits. If I could put an antioxidant in a beer, I would be rich.

Noboyz said...

I know, I LOVE my beer... it relaxes me in the evenings... but I know, bad for me.
I may have a glass of white zin after my bath...
I am going to try my hardest to work out everyday this week and see how my weigh in goes...
My thyroid test last year was within normal range... but I still think it is off...
My mom and 3 of my 4 sisters have thyroid problems.
enjoy your salad!
I made a veggie soup...

Leigh Ann said...

My thyroid level has to be between 1 and 2 for my symptoms to go away. They can take their normal range and shove it. This time it took 17 months to get there. Finally switched to Levoxyl and I love it. Thanks, Tina:)
BYT - we are watching LSU, YAH, they just scored.

Kathi said...

don't know if this has anything to do with the walking, but i found out today that my potassium is a bit low; any body got any idea as to why or what the potassium is good for? i may need treatment; have to call the doctor tomorrow to find out what's going on...will keep ya'll posted though; i'm still gonna walk though, until i'm told otherwise

Leigh Ann said...

Uhm, I don't know about potassium...anyone out there know?

Kathi said...

crystal, with you being nursing assistant, would you know?

Noboyz said...

potassium is lost due to blood pressure being up and down...
eat a banana... that brings your levels up.. if you are on any type of dieretic your potassium will be low....
banana, banana, banana
:)
Marci

Noboyz said...

I had to take a beta blocker with my last pregnancy, I was high risk and they put me on a dieretic which caused my potassium levels to be low. They told me either a banana, orange juice or orange. but banana worked best. I knew my levels were low when my joints would ache. Like being over exercised. (like now) ha
Marci

Kathi said...

yeah, that's how mine feel...i just thought it was the extra weight i'm carrying around; that's an indicator though, huh? ty marci

Anonymous said...

All's good here on my end...did go to the gym for 30 min due to having a meeting tonight...did 10mins on the tread/stepper and the machines and the floor/weight combo...drank my limit in water plus some today :D
Congrats to all who did their share of work outs!! You too Kathi, for that hill...and Marci and Tina with weights strapped on! Leighann...did you eat the chopped chicken salad?? That one is my fav!! BTW Kathi, Powder is about 9 or 10 ..she doesn't have full on wrinkles but loose neck skin LOL..

Kathi said...

dogs have a special place in my heart...grew up with them

Kathi said...

my hill isn't nearly as long or hard to walk up then yours, brenda, but it's certainly a hike

Kathi said...

that running smiley is pissin me off; don't see a bead of sweat comin off of her

The Johnson Family said...

Kathi I was gonna suggetst the banana as well but Marci has it covered!! Hope that helps!!

Kathi said...

i asked my mom to get me some nanners the next time she goes to the store; so gonna try that; but i'm also gonna call the doctor to see if i need a shot or anything
